I still think UFO has the most atmospheric music in the series. You actually know you're playing an epic game. And a Touhou game dosent need Sakuya to be good. Sakuya is annoying and overrated.

This stage's difficulty is so overrated. Long, yes, but compared to SA's HELLACIOUS BS stage 5, this stage is nothing. No annoying cat boss, no suicide bomb enemies, no extreme streaming, just simple bullet dodging and the BZZZM bullets that can be dodged with practice. Shou's nonspells are the only thing I find difficult about this stage.

I actually practice Touhou a lot, but in the end I always panic and bomb my way. A perfect example would be Kanako; I once practiced Stage 6 for over 4 hours but when I got to her, I bombed even the non-spells. I got to her final spellcard with no lives, I was dodging like crazy, my heart beating so quickly, I almost died IRL. -_- ( She had very very little life left but due to intensity, I started mashing random buttons and ran into a blue amulet ;_;)

11/8ths isn't an entirely unusual time signature, especially for a Lament, Romantic (emotional, not sexual) Ballade, Serenade, or other such emotional piece of music. It isn't very common, but there's nothing unusual about it by any means especially in a moving theme like this.

PCB: debatable, I like 6th stage as much as 5th.

IN: Extra stage theme without a doubt.

MoF: 3rd stage theme.

SA: also debatable, I love 6th stage theme and extra stage theme as much as 5th one.

UFO: 6th stage theme here for me. And possibly 4th.

I'd say that 5th, 6th and extra stages have the best music, not only 5th ones to be fair.

IN: Song of the Night Sparrow (Stage 2) or Voyage 1969 (Stage 6)

MoF: Cemetery of Onibashira~Grave of Being (Stage 6)

SA: Lullaby of a Deserted Hell is awesome, but so are Heartfelt Fancy (Four) and Last Remote (Extra)

Looking at the comments again, it's pretty interesting to see how different everyone's tastes are. All of the Stage 5 themes are fantastic in one way or another, but its fun to see how varied people are in their tastes.

I've seen people prefer this the most, or SA's, or EoSD's, or PCB's. I'm one of the few who favors Kagome-Kagome the most, even.

One of the reasons you have to love Touhou, everythings so varied, yet so good.

I've heard people say that this is one of the blandest soundtracks in the series (which I strongly disagree with), but when this music kicks in around 1:13 it sounds phenomenal. Gives me the chills every time I get to Nazzy at the midboss.

UFO's soundtrack is hardly bland at all - it's stylistically different from most of the series, which I believe is what people perceive as bland. It can sometimes be hard to accept change, and that is a fault.

And imo this is the best stage 5 theme of windows era. To me nothing else comes close except maybe Ancient Temple. Also to me 2nd best in Touhou 12 only behind the stage boss' theme, Shou's.

@Lordgalex Pocket Watch is great, and it really sets the mood for the stage. But when you're playing and you have your volume cranked up, the hook in this song is infinitely better than alot of other music in the series. And that is why I love it to death. Same thing applies to Flowering Night, which is the best theme in the entire series, bar none.
