I had a small window to see it here in Colorado, right after the sun went over the rockies, the twilight lit up the comet for a few minutes. It was very small but still really cool to see.
It saddens me that there is so much nonsense swirling around the internet regarding the relatively puny comet Comet Elenin. It's only 2~2.5 miles in diameter and the closest it will get to our Sun is 23,000,000 miles. Comet McNaught, on the other hand, is 15 miles in diameter and during it's last pass through our inner solar system it got as close as 16,000,000 miles of the Sun. Were there any catostrophic events caused by it's passing by ? No. We can expect much the same from Elenin = Nothing.
can someone please give me some good information on the significance of this comet in our solor system... where it travels,, and where it may end.... thanks , i would greatly appreciate it,,,, beautiful pictures btw.
this is the best song it remind me of hope and when i was little i used to look up on the blue dark sky and see the milions of stars and say there im going one day
wow I find the music so beautiful. who is it? the commet seems like life itself, life passing by. every minute we pass through life we lose a little bit of ourselves. I hope this video will remind some of us that life is precious. thank you for posting this
That was BEAUTIFUL, _plasmoman_! You got some gorgeous views of the comet above the open terrain, and lights of habitation as well. The music added just the right touch. Thanks for sharing!
A southern hemisphere comet? Because I live in Southern California on the Mexican Border in the United States and I don't remember seeing this comet, though I read about it in the Sky and Telescope magazine.
I think I saw a comet 1 nite while takin out the garbage. I saw a quick ball of lite with a tail and it went by so fast but I didn't hear any noise so I don't think it was a meteor
thanx :P. I saw that someone thinks that I was being measn...well you know what? I was just saying the TRUTH. at least I'm not lying okay? she/he probably wouldn't live long enough to even tell people about it :P
Visible in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere in January/February 2007. The long tail and bright coma you see took shape as it crossed into the Southern Hemisphere, but the tail became so long that its end could be seen in the Northern skies!
where abouts in central vic was this taken? i am from echuca n it was huge from there... i think that southern australia got the best veiw of that :D we so lucky lol
The music is by the artist Enya. =) The best modern day musician on the planet. The song is called "To Go Beyond". She has many other amazing songs. 90% of the songs on all of her CDs are top quality tunes.
how about a comet is never lonely due to it being a big piece ball of ice. nice video btw, we were lucky indeed, i saw it every night riding home from work on my pushbike. best tail ever!
Last time I saw something like that was back in March of 1997 in Las Vegas,NV. It was the Hail-Bopp comet and it was amazing. You took some hell of good pictures.
it was indeed for us lucky enough to be living in australia... im in south australia and saw it clear as day with the naked eye and it was massive... i think parts of south africa saw it also
it was a truely amazing time when this was happening.. this song is so peaceful...... was anyone else hoping the comet would hit earth and wipe out the middle east?
Oh you lucky lucky people! What a show! I am in midnorthern latitudes and only got to see the comet one night! Beautiful photos! Beautiful video! Congratulations!
At 3:43 the line in the top right hand corner is most probably the international space station. I caught it a little late and unfortunately just on the edge of the frame.
The 3:29 pic shows planes incoming to Tullamarine Airport
Lovely images!!! and what a show it was in central Victoria. I think we got some of the best and brightest views of it being so low in the southern hemesphere. Nice work, thank you!!!
