I just remembered - I very nearly ordered tickets for the Shepherds Bush concert, but decided to go the Hyde Park concert with Queen and Paul Rodgers which was scheduled for the same date, and I ordered tickets for Manchester and Leicester instead. As it turned out, the Queen/Paul Rodgers concert was postponed at the last moment for one week to the following Friday, because of the London bombings.
I flew over to London from Chicago for the SBE gig, and I'd only found out about the bombings a couple of hours before my flight took off! I remember that PH started the concert off with a moment of silence. I also remember having a sinking feeling because there weren't too many people at the gig about a half hour before it started. I went and chatted with some people at the bar and when I made it back to my 2nd balcony seat, the place was pretty much filled, thankfully!
I was working in London at the time, so Shepherds Bush and Hyde Park were just a short train journey away, but luckily I was nowhere near the bombings.
I was also working in London (on a different job) at the time of the Kings Cross underground fire in 1987, and went through Kings Cross station (on an underground train) about 20 minutes before the fire occured.
I thought this version was not so bad. I was at Leicester, but I didn't take my camera, although I do have an 'unofficial' live CD of the concert (recorded not by me), and I will probably upload one or two tracks from it at sometime in the future. However, I did take my camera to Machester (Bridgewater Hall), and I uploaded the footage to YouTube some time ago.
The concert itself was good (although they got totally lost during the instrumental part of Killer, which I remember them laughing about upstairs after the gig), I just thought they were a bit more untogether than they were at the RFH. I was also at the Manchester gig and very much like your uploaded footage (which I've seen quite a few times!)
I was at this concert (which was okay, although they were much better the next two nights in Leicester and Liverpool). La Rossa is one of my all time faves, but they sort of butchered it at SBE... it just sounded under-rehearsed. That's probably why they didn't do it again on the '05 tour (but at least it's cool that I saw them attempt it the one and only time with the four piece in '05).
VDGG is no doubt THE GREATEST rock band of all times !!!!!!!
