@joshcop69 I can see why some people wouldn't appreciate this version, especially if someone had an attachment to the original. My take is that the Unto Ashes reinterpretation is excellent, because it has a much different emotional undercurrent than the BOC original. Also, it is groundbreaking because it is the first neofolk song to obtain any degree of popularity or recognition; this is no small milestone. But music is largely subjective, so I can respect your views.
this was in "Scream". it was incredible as the background music to that certain scene. there are a lot of covers, but honestly, besides the original, this is the best. remember, its about sadness and what one may find as the ultimate solution - the finality of suicide. the other covers dont capture this notion. THIS one does. (this is all subjective and IMO, of course). beautiful rendition (though i see how some may find it a little 'slow'. you have to succumb to the mood).
i guess it had been a while since i had seen one of my favorite moview, fuzunga. i guess i just assumed it had to be this version. idiot me. thanks for telling me. GUs' version is likewise creepy and morose, like this one (OK in my book! )
The only way to cover a classic, iconic song is to try to take it to a totally new place, and Unto Ashes succeeds spectacularly here. Utterly wonderful.
beautiful song. i wish i could be like the seasons, the wind, the sun, and the rain

They wrote new music for it.... Gay..... They made it worse... The original already had perfect melodies... This is so melodramatic.

@SkylarkStudios This was a remake. A different verson. They paid tribute to Blue Oyster Cult.
Thats all i have to know. One of their best songs being honored!!!!
Long live BOC!!!!!!!

I just searched and listened to all of the covers of this song and this one is doubtless the best!! Such harmony and darkness at the same time...!
Jessica151294 10 months ago
Gus Black has done a better version. It's from the Scream Soundtrack.

Lame and predictable.
Slowing it down and breaking the lyrics in bite-sized pieces don't make a song any better, nor your own.
This reminds me of a pointless christmas song one would hear in a doctor's office waiting room.

@BrutalxxxUnicorn well, my original comment - i was referring to THIS, and not Gus'.

...That and the tempo of the song is completely destroyed. Good voice, bad cover.
zoby123 3 years ago
I don't believe the idea was to replicate the song, but rather, reinterpret it. So, in that sense, it is excellent.

horrible? I don't think so. She's got a very beautiful voice. Nice, peaceful song.
