On of the best places on earth I have been to. Lake Mc Kenzie is LIKE PARADISE really you can drink the water while you swimm as it filtered through the sand

when coming into the lake ..Absolutely amazing. Beware when driving around in a rented 4x4 the "huge 4x4 tourist buses" zoom around as if there is no one else there. I was met by one driving down a sand dune road and I was on the way up. I went into reverse as fast as I never have.

about 2 hours, you'd leave from Hervey Bay with a ferry or with the Helicopter.

It's actually 4 hours drive from Brisbane to Hervey Bay... I live in Hervey Bay. Usually people take the Barges over which can take up to 45 minutes depending on the kind of day and which part of the island you go to.

@tomtravelman haha try 3 hrs from brisbane buddy and i would go on the barge from inskip its alot cheaper and you get to see more of the island
