1:07 - 1:15 why do I have to hold my index finger up higher on the strings when its just one fret at a time? Have I been playing guitar wrong this whole time?
Great lesson!!! ... but it would be better if you use a guitar with dot inlay to make easier to us to see where is the finger position. any way thanks for lesson ... ^_^. Subscribed to this Great channel!!!
@benwilshire Well, you know, when I see a tablature or a music score, I kinda happen to know which fret I have to press on without needing someone to tell me... the ''video'' way is just way longer as I can't really visualize the whole lick and I have to click on pause every time I play one part of it.
@benwilshire your a fucktard, you can learn a shit ton from tabs.... and all your rock god founders learned by taking their LP's and slowing the speed on their record tables down and listening and picking out each note. thats how my dad learned, thats how i learned. and it works. you can play scales all you want but if you dont play with feeling your just some guy who can play some fast scales. and benni, that is why you are not a god like hendrix
Thanks very much mate! means alot coming from you! your a brilliant player and ive watched your videos for a long time! Really love all the stuff you and your band do aswell :)
I have another yngwie lick lesson that you might find useful. Its not too difficult but sounds good. Try learning as many licks as you can but start slow. its better to be slow and clean for a while than fast and sloppy.
Check out that other lesson and my picking technique lesson. That should help you on your way:)
If any of you guys are having trouble with this lick, one thing i done that really helped was play the first note on the e string with an up stroke and hit the second note on the b with a down, so instead of down,up,down,up. you would be playing up,down,up,down etc. Just a tip if you are having trouble like i did. Starting with and up just seems much more natural.
Hey Ben, awesome lessons! I've been getting into Yngwie alot lately and they have really helped. When you started playing neo-classical, are there any songs that helped you really progress? Thanks :) Keep Shredding
Good to see some new malmsteen fans out there. I think far beyond the sun was a brilliant song to work on for neoclassical because theres so much in it. Theres sweep sections, fast run sections and many other different things. It is an epic song though and takes so long to learn but is well worth it.
Hey ben have you ever tried Jazz 3 picks, and if so, do you have any thoughts on them? I got one recently, and i seem to be playing a lot cleaner with it than my standard big pick.
Yeah back in the day about 3 or 4 years ago i used those and those tiny little stuby picks but grew out of them. Once you start playing with those playing with a big normal sized pick is really strange feeling and difficult so your sort of limited with your playing if one of those picks is available. Loads of people use them though but i idnt like the limitations. 1.5mm dunlop standards are my favoirite now.
@sportsportsport just play it as fast as you can while still playing it clean to a metronome. then increase the speed by 2-5 bpm and get it clean. if you keep messing up slow it down a little and do it again
More Yngwie licks please ! You are a great teacher

@rickyjshiznit I don't use a metronome. A drum machine if anything. Guthrie ;)
