  • respect man

  • finally an honest bench press, soo many videos of fakers with spotters sporting all the weight

  • So when are you competing :) I wanna see you in your undies LOL

  • Damn

  • Awesome video wedge!!!

  • @Renard1071 I appreciate your words my man.... wedge

  • Hey man, I have a bet with a guy that ends thursday- mine is 225x 20. I use a wide grip as well and are only stips are ass stays on bench and lock out everyone. I do fast reps as well, and lock out- it may look like a short arm but i know im locking. Do you agree there is a difference between locking and extending?

  • @Sonnen3434 Locking out is for a single rep max. Repping out for reps, one should come close to a lock. ( 95-98 percent of the rep ). No half rep stuff. You know what I mean...

    take care, wedge

  • great form again. what's your weight, age, height?

  • @mcortezzzzzzz 5'8 231 lbs 47yo when filmed. wedge

  • @wedge2420 i'm 5'11" 180lb age 21 and i can only do 225 for 10-12. any tips on how i can get my bench up high like you wedge? please and thanks

  • @mcortezzzzzzz I trained under Jeff Feliciano in the early 90's under 100 rep routine for several years. This work out is not for everybody.... Takes hard work and dedication and good supplements. I think there is a book published by Jeff and Dr. Jim Wright. If you can't find it let me know. I can give you his email addy.... wedge

  • @wedge2420 oh wow you've been training for a long time. I've only been training for about 3 years. is this 100 rep routine similar to the German Volume Training?

  • @wedge2420 Don't know anything about the German Volume training. You train each body part for 100 reps with up to 2 10 sec stops. you will drop down to 40-50 % of the weight you normally do for 8-10 reps. Anyway, you want to know more let me know I will get you all info. Can't be long winded here.... wedge

  • @wedge2420 sure. i can be open minded when it comes to my training. not very many can do 225 for 50 reps so learning from you would be good advice. thanks

  • @mcortezzzzzzz no lockout, great form? it's impressive but i wouldn't call it great form.

  • @djndubya1 well he's reppin it out with good form. can you even do that?

  • Comment removed

  • its amazing how the upper body responds from the lower body.. I hit a plateau years back and couldn't get past it until i started squatting.. So work those legs guys...

Awesome rep set by the way...

  • BeAsT!

  • NICE JOB... BROTHER...

    I set the NCAA record in 1998 for 57reps @ 225lbs.

    My max was 680lbs.

  • Whats the best way to train for reps with 225. That is my goal right now, and I am hitting 22 reps and weighing in at 185lbs. I couldnt do 135 50 times, not because the weight is heavy, but because I would get burned out. What is the best way to train for stamina like that?

  • @mtpwrstroke NEGATIVES... and 3 second pause reps... Negatives are done with a spotter and 20lbs less than your max weight on the bar... Do 3 sets of 5, with a 5 count on the way down... Then, the spotter pulls the bar on the way up... The spotter is doing MOST of the work on the way up... 3 second pause reps are done with 225lbs... bring bar down normally... stop and pause for 3 seconds with bar 1" above chest... then, push bar up normally... Do as many reps as you can... 3 sets...
  • @CastingStonez that's the same with squats right? the pause squats?

  • @MrAwesome33100

    That is CORRECT!!!

You do these techniques with squats and legs?

60% of your upper body growth is due to working out you lower body...

Your upper body strength will DOUBLE when hitting squats and legs...

    Peace

  • @CastingStonez thanks for the info, appreciate it

  • @MrAwesome33100

    No problem... anytime...

  • @mtpwrstroke just have days when you do light chest day meaning burn out sets but kinda heavy to the point where you can get (example) 225 for 15-20reps. 15 should be the minimum. When you do chest the next time go heavy low reps. Changing it up helps, heavy to light days and I do chest NOW every 4 to 5 days so I get plenty of rest.Trying to get my bench back up for 300lbs again haha. Hope this helps man.

  • wow! I think he had a good 10 reps left in him too!

  • That's crazy

  • do those elbow wraps help out with the lockout?

  • @Hearmeforblocks Ofcourse they do. None the less, this is a great lift.

  • @Hearmeforblocks yes, wedge

  • Hey Wedge, I've currently been stuck at 225 x 6 or 8 on a good day. Plateau I guess. Any advice on me being able to continue to shoot up because i've been stuck around there for a friggin year. Wouldn't mind being able to do 225 x 50 like you hahahaha

  • @Lejendary2 I'm in the same situation. Worst feeling ever.

  • @Lejendary2 get on a pre workout thats how i got past my plateau at that weight. im now doin 265 for those reps, just a couple months after breakin

  • @bighussey whats a pre workout?

  • @Lejendary2 eat more, change your routine, or do both. If that's not working, you are doing something wrong.

  • @Xb0x540 definitely doing something wrong haha

  • wonder what his max is

  • @avalanchfan1 hmmm.... wedge

  • fucking awsome man, your an animal

  • That was awesome with perfect form too !!!! Cool Man ! :D

  • @BROTHAMAN30 Thanks for posting. wedge

  • @BROTHAMAN30 thanks for posting. wedge

  • pffffffft i can do 50 x 225 way more impressive

  • note to self, dont get into a fight with this guy

  • this is ridiculous.

    do you wear a shirt?

  • @ZamolxisReborn If your referring to a bench shirt. Hell no... I just use inzer elbow wraps. wedge

  • @wedge2420 then this is one of the most impressive lifts on youtube.

    good man.

  • His arms are real short, advantage

  • That's really impressive, but is there any reason they are done so fast? Is it not good form to lift more slowly?

  • @utuber2: If I may (since I asked wedge the same question a year ago): My coaches always tell me to slow down, maintain full range of motion, etc. as well. But wedge convinced me to add some "fast rep" sets to my routine as well. I was surprised by the relatively fast improvements I saw in strength and endurance. Slow and steady is still my gym mantra, form is everything, I say again and again, but busting out some sets as fast as you can works your muscles in other, good ways.

  • @luv853okg hey, thanks for taking the time to reply. There's always something new to learn! :-)

  • @utuber2 You never stop learning something new. Thanks luv853, wedge

  • FINALLY someone who doesnt do 50 partial reps, or half way reps but true form and grit. WELL DONE SIR

  • BEASTMODE

  • awsome lifting man...your a machine!!

  • @taipan342 Thank for the post.. wedge

  • HEYIMATANK

thats the biggest load of shit ive ever heard.

  • @dgl1962 what are u talking about, "at least" thats fucking crazy. my max is 150

  • nice lift man! please check out my combine rep test video!!! i got 40 reps! almost 41 :) what is your weight by the way and how many year you been training? thanks man, -phil

  • Damn, you did more than Larry Allen!

  • I think you need to increase the weight haha Nice lift

  • Thats like a cardio workout haha

  • man so many critics that don't know what the hell they are talking about especially about the term lock out and what it really does to the chest. Not locking makes the stress on the chest much much more difficult. When you lock you are resting your triceps/chest/shoulders making it cake. Another note: this is not a demostration of form, those saying he's not doing it right because he going fast, well shit man its a rep count til failure not form. Count this demo as a warm up or burn drop set.

  • @flipbulance are you saying that 50 reps would be less difficult if he locked out?

  • @mescalito00 Yes. Experiment locking your elbows and not locking your elbows for 50 reps. not fully stretching your arms aka locked elbows during a bench press puts constant stress on the triceps and chest. There is no rest period inbetween each pump except from the negative but this guy here shows controlled negatives without pause.

  • @flipbulance eperimented, and i like doing two of those followed by a lock out repeatedly till failure. really does help to build explosiveness at the bottom. i still don't think i would like the shape or function my muscles would take on if i primarily did this kind of bench, but i did learn something here.

  • @mescalito00 thats why this kind of bench with lots of reps is for conditioning. I still do these types of bench as my primary form. I find greater gain and intensity from doing this form but much slower than doing a full lock elbows each rep. As for shape or function, I highly doubt it will affect the appearance of your pecs and triceps doing it this way. bench is benching, as long as you doing proper technique it should not matter. dumbbells imo does more with your pecs than barbell.

  • @flipbulance i like to train for power and speed for boxing and locking out does have an effect on the shape and function of your pecs if done properly. still, i'm glad i tried it. definitely breached a bit of a plateau i was experiencing.

  • @mescalito00 I see why you were concerned about function and appearance. should of said it earlier, and yes I guess you are right on that since you are training for a specific movement =). Glad you found something to bust through a plateau.

  • @flipbulance half of what you said was retarded..

  • wish i could do 1 rep lol

  • @willskater08 work out.. :D

  • HOLY SHIT! what the fuck.... animal...OMG... o.0

  • Long time wedge I gotta show u my combine tape man !

  • @cktballa That would be cool....Is it on your home page?

    wedge

  • @3mighty3might i like how your run your mouth when u probably cant even do that weight yourself

  • nice muscle endurance. do u do alotta reps in your workouts?

  • @505outlaw Yes. wedge

  • @wedge2420 im 9 years old and weigh 165lbs and can do 83 reps with 225 lbs.

  • Damn! i can't even do this once

  • Damn bro, thats nutts, most I've gotten was 225lb for 20, had a torn bicep about a year and a half ago and had surgery, still can't lift, man I miss it so bad, keep up the good work buddy

  • @alphasig293 Thanks for the post. Sorry about the bicep injury. I know that's a tuff one to get over.

    Take care, wedge

  • thats awesome i hope i can get there soon i bench 225 18 times im 17

  • @victor1993k Thanks for the post. wedge

  • i lost count after the first one hahaha but good stuff!

  • it fucking sucks how i can only do this weight once

  • Haven't looked at this bid n a long time but the shit. Is still sick as he'll see you changed the music from pigs

  • @cktballa Still in Houston? wedge

  • wedge what do u flat dumbell press for weight?

  • @workoutworld09 It has been over 10 years. I used to hit the 200 pounders but when going from gym to gym most every place I would go topped out at 120's so I just stuck to bench press. I do like DB's better for chest.

    wedge

  • You sir, are a FREAK!!! That was crazy! Great lift!

  • @coachsoop Thanks for posting, wedge

  • @coachsoop Thanks for the post buddy. wedge

  • Wowwwww this was rediculously impressive lol! keep it up

  • @DA1NONLYJAMES Thanks for posting. wedge

  • Glad to see you're not bouncing it! great work man.......

  • @samrhaley Appreciate the good words. wedge

  • i can only do it twice but im 110 pounds :p i have a vid uploaded for proof

  • People get a lock out and a full extension totally mixed up a lock out looks like your going to snap your elbows and a full extension is with your arms straight just like when you take the bar off the rack partial reps are ok but the right way is full extension the person that I know that has the best form on bench is kevin levrone by far.

  • You have to go all the way up man but still pretty good though probably the most partial reps I've seen so far.

  • @Mrdbzfanforlife Going all the way up makes for an easier rep and poses too many risks for injury. Do you lock your legs when you do leg press? Of course not, too much risk of buckling knees. Bench is the exact same way.

  • he's using momentum to move that weight if you wanna see how to do it properly check out 10 x225 bench press, now that guy does it THE RIGHT WAY, there is a difference if you lock out, call me a geek, or nerd but I see so many dudes claiming they rep this they rep that when if you did it PROPERLY like in this video I bet he hits like 38 reps, IF HE LOCKED OUT AND SLOWED IT DOWN

  • Hey wedge dude, you tossed a little muck my way a couple years ago when i suggested you were going too fast. You ended up convincing me to add fast-lift sets to my routine. Not a week goes by I am not glad for that tip. My may bench is up from 360 to 415 and I can one-arm curl more weight with either hand 3x10 than I could 1x10 back in the day. Amazing what can come from actually listening to what thoughtful people have to say. Best to ya.

  • @luv853okg Sounds like you are coming along great. A little muck is a good thing. take care, wedge

  • @wedge2420 : 435 today. Life is good. Best part was the high school kids staring at this old man with their jaws hanging open. Couple weeks back one of them got on my case for doing fast-rep sets. I told them I learned it from the Internet and he just rolled his eyes at me. Not today, though.

  • @luv853okg Awesome- Keep up the good work! High school kids ( fuck em if they can't take a joke.... )

  • @wedge2420 : I can't resist messing with them. They show up in little packs with their spotless mesh-back gloves and matching water bottles and huff and huff and then act like Magnus Samuelsson when they actually do a bench rep at 225. Ah well I was young once two. Now I'm older, wiser and a fuck of a lot stronger.

  • Nice man. You do more than everyone at the NFL combine. Beast!!

  • holy shit.. i can only do that like 3 times.

  • thats amazing,i can deadlift 225 for 40 reps,no hope of benchin it for 50,actually i know i can bench 135 for only 25 reps

  • wtf 225 AND THAN 50 TIMES?! ololol

    i work out sinds Dez. 2009 (one Year) and i Bench 140 x 5 XD i´m surely

not able to fucking lift 225 oO benching 225 would kill me

  • Nice job man....I can do 225 around 33-35 times....50 is great!!

  • @bigpuller78 Sounds like you are on your way to pass me. Good job and thanks for the good words. wedge

  • whats he trying to prove? idiot..

  • hey man i am very impressed. what do you eat bro? you are a monster -- i am a big fan now ... i wish i could get like you one day.

  • Respond to this video... Tuna Melts almost every day! Thanks for the nice post my man. wedge

  • i bench 215 now how do i get to 225 ,goto gym 4 days a week

how many total set do i have to do a day like do i start with 135, 5 reps

to 160 then heavy weights 3 reps,

    thanks

  • another good body builder...it's good to know that there's still a few guys that really work out how they're supposed to...good job man

  • @realk5 Thanks man. Thanks for the good words. wedge

  • Hey Wedge, I was wondering what supplements are you taking? And what would be good for me. Im taking Gold Standard right now. Is there anything better?

  • i can only bench 205 how do i get to 225

  • i bench 205 how do i bench 225

  • @princemaster12345 ...if your looking for a one rep max of 225 then you have to be dynamic in your training...for example in stead of hammering away with pyramid sets , try going to the gym opne day and doing sets of 3 reps going heavier on each set until you cannot succesfully do 3 reps anymore. also you can work with percentages... so if you max is 205 then week 1, do a set of 5 with 135 , then do a set of 5 with 142, then 5 with 150 then a set with 158.. literally these numbers exactly,

  • @princemaster12345 and do those reps with speed and power, attempt to throw the bar up off your body. Also work on your close grip bench press and your shoulder presses to help streengthen the associated muscles that are used in benching. ALSO WORK YOUR LEGS!!!! Do SQUATS heavy, leg press, WORK YOUR LEGS if your not, they assist your body in almost every lift, and due to the growth hormone release and the testosterone increase you will grow stronger overall!!! Happy Lifting!!

  • Very nice,easy for you;-))

  • Thanks wedge2420 I will keep training bro and u do the same more.......

  • Good form and set bro... Keep up da good work man...... Check out my video bro....

  • @wwwwalter1234 Thanks man. I checked out you video... Good job and keep up the hard work! wedge

  • You're a tank. How long have you been lifting for? And what is the most weight that you ever pushed on the bench press?

  • @MartinFire13 22 years...My best bench raw is 540 at 5'8 232lbs. wedge

  • amazing brotha keep it up dude

  • beast!!!, what's your max?

  • thats awesome but how

  • thats perfect form!

  • @ashoka22 Thanks for posting . I appreciate the good words.

    Kyle

  • @wedge2420 hey, i see it looks like your using some sort of foam pads, i wondered where u got them or if you made them and out of what. I first saw them being used by bodybuilder roelly winklar, i really want to use something like that.

  • Hey dumb f*cks on an NFL combine you don’t have to lock out. You guys need to learn the difference between bench press types. Bodybuilding, power lifting, and the combine are done differently but most of you are to lazy to google it. And if your completely locking out on your bench your taking strain off your chest and triceps and putting it on your elbows which is bad for your joints. Unless your in bench competition don’t lock out. Nice bench bro!!

  • @gwatson101 Well said brother. People don't know wtf they are talking about. Your dead on with all your points. I'm not the biggest most ripped up guy, but I'm in good shape, but i damn well know my way around a gym. For all the idiots who on here rippin this guy up for "not going all the way up" stfu. He went the perfect hight.

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 Hey Man, thanks for the post. I appreciate the good words. Lots of weight lifting critics here but if you post your video, got to be ready for haters too.

    take care, wedge

  • @wedge2420 No prob bro, There's nothing to criticize about your lift. You didn't slam the bar to your chest, you didn't do a half rep, you didn't lift your ass off the bench, your arch was minimal, and you beasted the weight. I'd like to see half your haters do a third of the reps you did.

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 or 2 of the reps he did.

  • @OWHSsoccer07 Enough with your blasphemy!!! When you bench 225 for 50 reps your allowed.

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 wtf is ur problem?! i was agreeing with you jackass. god ur paranoid.

  • @OWHSsoccer07 WOW!!! who's the jackass? Ease up on the juice pal, it was a fucking joke. As if the word "blasphemy" didn't kinda give it away. Seems like your the one who has some paranoia going on. So why don't you go play in traffic or or pick up a coloring book and control your temper. Ok bud?

  • @CivicSiGuy2007 well then u have horrible jokes...god ur a loser.

  • @OWHSsoccer07 ok buddy... the way you speak in your comments, you remind me of Napoleon Dynamite. "hhhhuuuuuu... god your a loooser!" lmao... stuf up kid.. Now go back to playing pokemon like a good boy.

  • @gwatson101 I appreciate the post . wedge

  • @gwatson101 exactly!!

  • @gwatson101 actually thats the way it should be done and it actually harder i feel and it works the muscles alot harder watch ryan kennelly he does his like that on 405x20 good point

  • put other vids up

  • @gwatson101 what does ''lock out mean''??

  • @shadowvowed187 its when your elbow joint is locked so in otherwords its a full benchpress. pushing the weight until it cant go any higher

  • @gwatson101 what do u mean by lock out

  • don't count! gotta go ALL THE WAY UP!!!

  • bud, you coulda pushed 60 !! you got THAT

  • @grahampr Thanks buddy, I was going for 50 consecutive reps without a pause in between. You're are right on with a pause or two. Thanks for posting... wedge

  • sick

  • hey, what do you reccomend for increasing bench? mines been stuck at 225 for 3 years :\

  • @hysperiona I'm not an expert, but I would suggest the dumbbell press. It has helped me to increase quite rapidly.

  • @hysperiona

Holy crap. Can I ask you, do you do bulking/cutting cycles? Because I have seen people who do that whole in-between thing (where they are kind of trying to stay lean, and kind of trying to gain strength) who get stuck solely due to their diet.

Also you should cycle your training, going from periods of lesser intensity to periods of higher intensity... essentially building up towards heavier, lower rep sets and eventually testing the 1 rep max. To avoid over-reaching/over-training

  • @hysperiona Dumbell bench press for 4 weeks with no standard benching, and increase your shoulder workout, what helped me was power press and military press with free weight barbell. Should see the difference then when you go back to bench.

  • @hysperiona Hey man your in the 225lbs rut. A lot of guys are like that. Try this site

Strongbench. com (Without the space) Lots of great free bench press tips. In 7 weeks I added 75lbs to my max

  • Holy crap...

  • hmm. i shat a brick house.

  • this shit is intense i can hit 225 only for 10 lol

  • wish i had short arms - no not really - wish I had that advantage tho...
