  • Cause of this fucking system with air-ball, is no-limit diving so dangerous. The rope make nearly 45 degrees to the right and therefore he is coming up slowly. Herbert Nitsch is the best freediver of the world, but if the system strikes he will die like Audrey Mestre.

    No-Limit freediving is very Dangerous.

  • nolimitsfreediving . com domain for sale

  • why do they do that with their mouth

  • @zimmcat

it's called packing, you force air into your lungs to expand them more= taking more air.

  • Congratulations.........

  • how does he not die from the pressure changes?

  • Damn! incredible I want to do this.

  • Damn this is incredible I want to do this.

  • Amazing Herbert, both him and William are the king of the seas

  • Has "packing" been scientifically proven to work?

  • My Goodness O_O How did ... OMG. Just amazing! My Respect!

  • Decompression sickness results from pressure gradients. Since the air in his lungs is from the surface (1ATM) then upon his return to the surface he will be at 1ATM. (Unless he breathes compressed air at depth.) He is on gassing nitrogen more rapidly because of the increased partial pressure created by depth but in theory (Haldane's theory) he will not "get bent". If he were overweight, dehydrated and in very poor cardiovascular shape then a distant maybe on the bends at best.

  • could you imagine he gets to the ending of the rope, then the rope gets cut off!

  • What up with "NO ONE TOUCH HIM!!!" is he like their god, lol?

  • @MW2Failure - It's part of the surface protocol that the divers are required to do. Divers have 15 seconds to perform the SP and then they have to be observed for 30 seconds afterwards to ensure that they don't need assistance. If someone touched him, it would disqualify the dive.

    Cheers!!

  • I can do that

  • respect

  • would be nice if somebody could post a video with an introduction to this art or add a soundtrack to what exactly is going on there.

  • some people know nothing about free diving.

  • almost no one knows anything about free diving,

    idiot

  • While free dive snorkeling in a river I indirectly discovered hyperventalating and some extended breath holds of nearly 2 minutes. My wife was totally freaking out. Then when I took some dive lessons I learned about the potential of blackouts with the hyperventilation technique. Scary.

  • In the begining of the video, I thought that it might be easier to fill your lungs and get a bigger breath if your chest was out of the water?

  • I used to be able to hold my breath for almost two minutes. I tried while watching this vid, and i only made it to a min ten. These guys are awesome :D

  • because he breath air from the surface and as he goes deeper the air in his lungs gets pressurized and when he comes back up it returns to the same pressure. unlike scuba diving

  • how do they not have to exhale on the way up

  • friend below 10 mts down water, everthing is going to sink because the little amount of air you have in your lungs gets pressurized, so whe your returning the efforts are worst because you got Diox in your blood and your lungs, but beeing a gas it expands anyway in your lungs bein this way a little bit helpful for you arraiving to the surface. On the other hand at that distance from the surface with only one breath, if you exhale, the needs for breathing are going to be worst

  • I beat my personal record today. 25m pool unassisted, no fins, 2 times. so 50m. I'm happy!

  • whats happened to the bends?

  • amazing!

  • what are you talking about snipershigo????

have you ever been in the water??

The list of things that can go wrong with any sort of diving is incredible,i suggest you hand in whatever qualifications you hink you might have and pay attention next time you do a course, its not you i'm worried about, its your dive buddy.

  • If he's smart enough to have a dive buddy...

  • thats........ya

  • Wow. Amazing indeed.

  • Amazing.....

  • when I watched this video I found myself breathless! respect him, good job or a hobby but I think its not worth it,diving is very dangerous sport..

  • look at the number of SCUBA deaths man. It is a very dangerous sport! That attitude is why many die

  • Ignorant

as long as you know what youre doing scuba diving is pretty safe

a lot safer than getting in your car and driving to work

  • ignorant? Ha. Years in the diving industry and I'm ignorant? You are ridiculous

  • please tell me your not a diver :(

bends is caused by excess nitrogen in your body expanding and forming bubbles in the blood, and that excess nitrogen is caused by BREATHING air at depth. they dont breath, they dont get excess nitrogen, they dont get bent. hence free divers can do dive after dive after dive

  • There is a case of a british freedive, who got Benz, but the case was very extreme. He went down about 20 times in rapid succession. Don't remember the depth, but the amount of nitrogen the his breathing air contained got pushed into the blood by repeated deep dives. So eventually you can get it, but its very difficult.

  • please tell me YOUR NOT A DIVER,IF SO YOUR AN INCOMPETENT ONE,What about the nitrogen levels in the surface air?? and the accelorated absorbtion rates at depth and extended duration??dive deep and long enough and a free diver WILL get bent, do your homework before gobbing off until then stay out of the water before one of your mates has to drag your limp body onto the boat!!!!EDUCATE YOURSELVES PEOPLE

  • no its not dumbass

  • I wouldn't risk my soul to do that

  • Having trouble with current?

  • On the ascent it looked like one of the balloons didn't work, and the other one was caught in the guideline.

That was dangerous to say the least.

  • these guys are fearless

  • thats crazy, respect!!!

  • just watching this makes me breathless...but wow it was worth it!

  • ....and here the link 2 his record :-)

    filmon dot com/?main_menu_show=page_dive

    enjoy it

  • ...sry his new record .....214m :-)

  • herbert broke that record going down to 213m last month.

imagine though the mentality of this man, having been down to 183m and coming back up having to face the rope being entangled with the balloon pulling him up and then having to leave the sled and swim all that way to where the judges were... no panic whatsoever! respect! all i can say...

maybe it helps that he's a pilot... has learnt to deal with various situations calmly...

  • Is that what had happened? I never heard the full story but just looking at it I thought perhaps the currents were very strong or there wasn't enough weight on the line. The way he's ascending the balloon should be pulling towards the surface, the direction of the line, but it's pulling across it. Still, very good that he was so calm under that pressure.

  • whats the difference between all three methods of diving?

  • There are several disaplines, some swimming down and some assisted by a sled....

  • Is this really sport or even fun???

  • It is so peaceful and relaxing...

  • I have seen free diving that looked unbelievably beautiful. That looked like a robot on a string. Like a hot dog eating contest.

  • I agree with mcnizy. It is physically impossible for one to get the bends free diving. Reason, unlike scuba where one gets a nitrogen build-up from the air being taken in from the tank (it's this nitrogen that bubbles in the blood if one comes up to fast), you only have the air in your lungs free diving, so there is no risk of nitrogen build up.

  • Due to the extreme depths we are now getting to Herbert can get bent.. and thus does a 1minute decompression stop in his dives...

  • @FreediverMIG

He does the stop because he has a little bag that he uses to hold some extra air.

As you see he fills his lungs to capacity at the surface then puts the bag in his mouth so as he goes down he collects the air escaping so he can get another breath when he reaches his final depth. In no limits this is Legal.

  • @fushki Why is air escaping?

  • @fushki The bag is equalizing pressure in his mask. He is not rebreathing any air.

  • @rgrab You are incorrect. It is theoretically unlikely but not impossible.

  • you cant get the Benz free diving.

  • he must have had to come up slow to avoid the bends

  • It's true you can't get the bends freediving, but even while diving with compressed air when you are just a doing a bounce it's extremely unlikely that one will end up getting the Bends because it takes time for the inert gases to diffuse into your tissues. However when I say bounce I am talking a dive to maybe 20m.

  • loic leferme ich wünsche dir alles gute, ich hoffe du hast den frieden im tiefen blau gefunden. herbert nitsch, viel erfolg und spannende erlebnisse.

  • that current is hella strong

  • Damn, current was very strong.

  • Respect

  • WHY? :P

  • wot a nutter gd one m8 !!! :D

  • ich sag nur eins schwimmbad blackout :S

  • i can dive over 5 meters, but i think i can dive longer but i've just tried in the bathhall :S

  • he isnt breathing compressed air.. so the pressure has little effect other then equalising your sinus and ear cavities on your way down.. and that is only an issue in the first 10-40m or so.. the deeper you go the easier it is to equalise

  • Thats right except for a little thing called pressure...

  • "the deeper you go the easier it is to equalise"

Well yes and no. The pressure change gets less and less, but you also run out of air to fill with. So you generally must flood your nose with water. You call that easy? :) Its painful.

  • Herbert doesn't use "wet equalisation" The EqEx is designed to allow him to equalise normally to over 200m

  • hey freediver mig i saw the video one doubt, did he use a oxygen mask till bottom of 183 mts,or did he take a deep breath on surface itself to go and come back?

  • @r0ck3tsm0k3 I can't seem to find much info on the internet regarding wet equalisation. Does this happen automatically when you flood the nose or is there technique involved to get water to the inner ear.

  • the pressure must blow up his face
