I adore the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Nothin' like it in the whole wide world. :-) (I'll tell you a secret, it's actually my favorite spot in the whole city! In the summer, if you sit at the turtle pond, you can sometimes hear the actors rehearsing, and that's a real treat!)
Thanks, Andrew, for reminding me of how lucky I am to have such a great theatre in my town! Saw the show when it played the FOX last month, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
why don't you give us a tour of the MP set and the Banks family house plus backstage? we would love that and how about teaching Ashley's dance steps for Step in Time?
when is Ashley's album coming out? it is not on sale yet?
There's a little old opera house in my town. TINY little town in upstate NY, but this theatre is so amazing. It's called Hubbard Hall and not only is it amazingly beautiful, but for the size of the town, and the tight budget they are on, the shows that they put on there are absolutely fantastic. I'm proud to have it in my town, and it will always hold a special place in my heart!!
Yesss! That is the coolest backstage of any theatre ever! I pretty much love the Pantages in Hollywood. I mean, everybody loves that theatre, but I think the location and the interior design just create this amazing energy! I've never been there when you couldn't feel these amazing vibrations just coming from everybody there. Cool place!
Haha great vid. The renovated Hippodrome in Baltimore is reallly breathtaking..i think you were there during the "Grinch" last year. A very special theatre.
omg elevators r the easy way and there's no way that being a broadway actor is easy. and anyway it's a pretty kick ass work out good luck w the rest of the tour -alice
I live in St. Louis and have been backstage of our lovely theatre more times than I can count. I understand your steps-induced pain.
And yes, I've been all over the country with theatres and it's hard to find one more gorgeous and historical than the one in my own backyard. I hope you've enjoyed playing here!
I'd have to say the Masonic Temple in Scranton, PA. It was designed by the same person who designed the Radio City Music Hall. They're in the middle of a restoration but it still is beautiful.
well, i live in St. Louis and my family owns season tickets.... but i was stupid and let my sister's friend have my ticket for Mary Poppins... but i think i did see you for 25th Annual at the Fox.... I LOVE THE FOX THEATRE
I've been to the fabulous fox before and they gave us a backstage tour. It truely is a beautiful theatre. Hhhmm, i think the Orpheum in Memphis is pretty as well :)
I love the Elgin theatre in Toronto...it's so old, it has one of those cage style elevators that has an operator! I saw RENT there (its set looked so out of place with the rest of the theatre) and I'm pretty sure I saw Spelling Bee there too!
I'd have to say The Orpheum, in Memphis, is my favorite. Well I'm slightly biased because I live in Memphis, but still it's a gorgeous theatre! Hahaha I believe you were there AKB when you were on the Spelling Bee tour! Next time you come to Memphis, PLEASE make a Memphis blog! :D
I personally hate the Academy of Music. You don't have a good view unless you're in the orchestra. [Or on stage.] One of my favorites is the Imperial [NYC].
I got to go to the Royal Haymarket Theatre in London this summer while I was studying there and saw Waiting for Godot. That theatre was gorgeous and it set a really neat contrast to the dilapidation of the set itself.
Holy crap, that backstage is GORGEOUS. I'd pay just to go backstage. One theater that always makes me smile is the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT. It's not the most lavish theater in the country, but it doesn't have to be, it's simply beautiful. It looks especially gorgeous at night from the parking lot because it sits next to a lake and with the lawn lights shining on the building looks so lovely. Also you can just FEEL the history in that place when you walk in.
Id say the Academy in Philadelphia. My friends and I saw Legally Blonde there, and while waiting, we atempted to run from the orchestra to the top of the 5th level, in under 5 minutes. My friends succeded. Me...Not so much haha
I would have to say that the FOX in STL is the best theatre I've seen, but maybe I am bias because I live there. Radio City Music Hall in NYC, which took insperation from the Fox Movie Palces, is also pretty awesome.
It use to be an old Opera House and is said to be haunted by several ghosts. Did someone tell you about Mary, the little girl ghost? Did you experience any super natural things when you were there for Spelling Bee?
Every theatre I've been in has somewhat amazed me for one reason or another. But mainly because theatres seem as if it's a living breathing thing for me. Especially when I' backstage.
If I had to pick a favourite though, I'd say the Opera House in Paris. I'm a sucker for grand architecture.
Yay! I'm so glad you made this video! I've seen many shows at the Fox (I live in St Louis) and I certainly loved seeing you in Mary Poppins! I got the privilege to meet Ms, Ashley Brown and her adorable dog who you featured! (Laird introduced my sister, mom and I) Unfortunately though I didn't see you! :( but I've thoroughly enjoyed your St Louis video's and pictures of your adventures here!
The Orpheum Theatre, the one you're in right this very second is PHENOM. The glass chandelier in the middle is gorgeous, and the wall backstage boasts so many big names.
They host "Spotlight Awards" every year in June. It's basically the Tony Awards for high schools in MN. Awesome experience.
And my parents are deaf, so they come see interpreted performances. The ASL interpreters in MN are wonderful people. So fantastically great at their jobs!
I've been on tour with a kids show for the past 2 1/2 years, no it's not "Muppet Babies Live," hahaha. Anyway, I would have to say my all time favorite theater we performed in was the Tokyo International Forum in Tokyo, Japan. It's a new modern venue, but it was so architecturally impressive I just couldn't help being in awe of the fact that we would performing there every time I walked into the building. AMAZING!
Thanks again for another great video. I can't wait for the next one. :~)

Great Blog. Well I havent been to many theatres, but the BEST one i have gone to was the HOBBY CENTER in HOUSTON. Which i believe you guys are coming to (and i plan to see the show). I was actually nominated for a tommy tune awards and got to perform on that stage in front of a full house. It was such an amazing experience and just the beautiful stars on the ceiling look so great! I believe you would stare at the stars as Leaf Coneybear when you sat in the audience during spelling bee tour :)
My favorite theatre probably is the Orpheum (where you're at now... haha) I know it's nothing too grand but I've had a lot of amazing memories there :)
