Yes. It's an official requirement, and you'd need to be extremely skilled not to need it. Many trials bikers will run v-brakes in the back, and huge high powered discs in the front.

BMX=acrobatics

Trials=raw control

dude i have a saracen amplitude i did not know any thing about trials when i bought it from halfords they told me it was a trials bike and i wos told by some one in edinbough cycles that it is not and i was told by edinborough that i was better off getting a new frame or a new bike but my dad said that im not allowed to buy any parts for it so im pissed off is there any way i can make it more like a trials bike can someone help me p.s. its not the suspension version but the 24" vesion HELP!!

its a dirt jump trial bike not really made for this type of stuff but the first thing you want to do is lose to seat and as much weight as you can so you can pop the front end up easly also keep your tyre pressure on the low side to give you better balance hope this helps :)
