I doe's not matter how much they earn at UFC if they sign that contract it is enough for him like choosing any other job, and as they say you just get pay more if you do well I would do the same thing I would not pay a dude 1 million bucks in the beginning of his carrier because there is no guarantee it will pay off that how business works..
ESPN is scared of the UFC. They keep on asking questions about fighters pay because they learned the hard way that promoting they're boxers pay would ruin some of the boxers careers and most of their live
Pretty sure this reporter has no idea what he's talking about. Every time he mentions some unidentified fighter, in order to propose a question, he sounds as though he is faking. What a poser. I guess the nature of seeing others succeed is to try and crush it. I believe those other organizations need to mind there own business.
Of course fighters want more money, and wont go on record saying so.Lorenzo is right, without the UFC fighters would not be making anywhere near what they do now. They might for the fight, but not the bonus's or the big sponsor money. The one thing that Lorenzo only touched on but I would of made a huge point off,is the fact that lots of boxing fight dont/wont/cant happen because of all the different entity's. WBO,WBA,IBF etc. Then there are the TV rights that wont let a fighter fight for another
Why does ESPN gives a fuck how much UFC fighter gets paid!? It their bussines! They were smart, invested money, worked hard and were succesfull. If I was in Lorenzos shoes I would spit this fucker in the face. But he handled it like a gentelman. They gave opportunity to fighters to make money which they could only dream of, not just the fighters but also other people that work for the UFC. ESPN and other haters are just JEALOUS, and they cant handle it like grown people.

Must respect to Lorenzo. He carried himself very well. But no fucking way the UFC pays 50% of its total revenue to its fighters, even with its discretionary bonuses.
is it me or is the commentator talking absolute shit. How many times can you ask the same question? Lorenzo smashed the itnerview a true ambassador of UFC. ESPN clearly don't want the UFC to succeed and focus on fighters salaries rather than the viewer understanding how the UFC was nothing and became something. Its a good job UFC recorded the interview as the edited version is skewed. May the UFC live long for a very long itime. Once again this interviewed is a d*ckhead,
Lorenzo is very civil and professional. The Fertitta brothers and Dana White balance each other out. I wish more milestones for the company. Go on with what you are doing best, UFC!
This interviewer.....he must be mildly retarded. Lorenzo explains everything perfectly, but some how, this guy just can't understand a fucking thing he's saying. Lorenzo might as well be speaking Japanese.
something a lot of people don't understand is that the fighters that come into the ufc and start on these 6 and 6 contracts will probably fight 3-4 (36k) times in the UFC if they perform and chances are they already have a job on top of this, if they perform 3-4 times a year they will go up in the pay scale, also, bonuses in UFC are crazy, as well as sponsorships. they are getting paid well to compete in a sport they love, whats problem people?
i like how the interviewer got a little defensive when fertitta mentioned how much ESPN fighters get paid...20:15...big gamble to get the company started...talk about balls of steel
Lorenzo is playing stupid when asked about a Union...how would we crush it? Just as any big business crushes it....the fighters would love a union but they would get stomped! Lorenzo doesn't want a union! He's neutral!? Please...Lorenzo is against it!
If the fighters really get 50% of the total revenue, then they would have no problem showing their books!
The fighters can't possibly get 50% of total revenue when the fighters don't even make more than 15% of each fight card revenue! The UFC sells each PPV for 50-60 bucks...lets say each card, on average gets only 1 million PPV buys....that is 50-60 million total revenue for each card...at least! The 20 or so guys fighting on each card don't even see 5 million of that!
I like Lorenzo, Dana not so much but the point is they are saying everything a typical business man would say about saying they don't know how much its worth which is BS...they have their eyes on the bottom line and how much they make in profit each and every year and they have a good idea how much the UFC is worth
They are paying fighters just a few thousand bucks for training and fighting for each fight which doesn't come that often for the lower level fighters..u can't live on 10grand a yr!
i really like how lorenzo speaks. him and dana really compliment eachother well. one who is the face of the company and isnt afraid to say whatever he thinks (and in this world of over sensitive people is very important) and then there is lorenzo who can speak really well and educated (no insult to dana about tht) about things. xx
Is anyone surprised that fighters don't want to talk about their boss in an interview? Does anyone here who has a job want to do an interview where you are supposed to criticize the company you work for? It makes sense that fighters want to stay quiet.
His father Frank began his career as a Bellman at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino whilst learning to become a dealer. Over the next 16 years to 1976 he worked as dealer, pit boss, baccarat manager and general manager at properties including the Stardust, Tropicana, Circus Circus, Sahara and the Fremont in downtown Las Vegas. He took a chance and opened Station Casion. Work hard and take some risks in your life. Go out there and start a business and apply some entrepreneur skills.
As a sports junkie, I use ESPN as a primary source for sports news, results and information. This chop piece really disappoints me. E$PN took a good interview and completely distorted it in the editing room by slicing out every valid point that Lorenzo made. Gee, I wonder if this has anything to do with the UFC's Fox deal?? E$PN sure as hell wouldn't run a piece like this if the UFC cut a 7 year deal with them!!
love how the fertitta asked the douche bag interviewer for examples and names but he couldnt give any but as soon as fertitta was asked to give an example took him no time at all to come up with something. great job espn SMH
no, not true. fighters are paid less than 5% of the total revenue from a pay per view. look at the pay scale from ufc 100 which the athletic comission forced the ufc to make public. that event made about 70 million, and they paid their fighters less than 2 million total. if you think that your money is going to the fighters when you purchase an event or ufc merchandise your wrong. ufc fighters pay is predetermined and they can get a bonus plus sponsors but thats usually $ in the thousands.
But this interview is about UFC not MMA. and secondly $6000-$20,000 is not at the top of the UFC. The top is $300,000 to $500,000++++. Of course the top boxers are paid more.
Lol, holy shit i cant believe that the boxing commision is going after the UFC like this. The entire time the interviewer tries to paint the UFC as slave owners when in fact they are just the opposite. Boxing is such a corrupt fucking sport that no matter what fight you watch you can bet your seat ass it's been rigged. I couldn't imagine a worse thing happening to the UFC then trying to structure its model like boxings is. The reason it is so good its because the fighters are motivated to make $
@AllupinyomouthBitch I couldn't agree more! Of course boxing pays Mayweather, and Pacquaio HUGE money, because they pay the undercard crap! UFC, the money is more distributed.
Espn clearly never talked about the positive side of UFC and clearly UFC is competion to other sports and them and doing deals with FOX and others can only make espn worried..Lorenzo came off as true pro and clearly got he message out there ...UFC is a winner for us, the fighters and MMA in general...
So that is a valid reason for supporting an act against humanity, an act against freedom of speech? I understand that they want to stop piracy, to squeeze out some more money, but at what cost is that acceptable?
@MarkHorp When did piracy = free speech dip shit. SOPA and PIPA definitely have some flaws int he legal language, which is why the White House isn't supporting it. The bills are a mess, and this is common in the senate. It'll take a good 12-18 months of them working on the language of it so it protects what it's intended to protect.
Piracy is not the main concern for the big players.. the main concern is that people are able to spread information and news trough other channels than the controlled mainstream media.
The whole piracy thing is just a front, to get popular support.
@Eels88ya why am I a troll, because it's good to see the whole video, and not just ESPN's version, cut as to create their picture of the UFC? I was in no way sarcastic, just saying it's good that they had their people tape the entire interview, which in the end proved to be the right step. They knew ESPN wanted to make the UFC seem like a despicable organization. They questions weren't just randomly chosen, they wanted answers they could use to create a bad image of the UFC.
Fertitta is a good debater, but when you hide the numbers on your books, and it's widely understood that the percentage of your payout vs your revenues is skewed...I can't side with the guy. Especially when the majority of fighters, a large majority, will retire from the sport and will need to have second jobs in order to to live after fighting.
Lorenzo made the interviewer look like total douche. UFC is doing everything rights and if you are a fan and complain you really should STFU. Since you clearly have no idea what is good for the sport and good for the fans.
what the sport of mma needs is mark cuban and vince mcmahon to come in and start their own fight organization and start buying out the best fighters and paying them more money. they can obviously afford it and fighters arent getting paid much right now anyway. they could start off with just a few divisions like heavyweight, light heavyweight, and middleweight. and with their TV leverage they could get a TV contract with a major network and easily compete with the ufc.
i mean its clear to see the fights have gotten bigger and bigger. so if thats happening its safe to say the ufc is doing good. espn is trash, ive never really liked espn only thing ive ever been into was ufc.
Espn has never shown love for the ufc or mma. I remember a few times on my dish network listing it would say mma live would come out at a certaint day and time and espn never showed that weeks episode plus don't let me get into the way they feed views of certain athletes down our throats. Like the way they disrespect quarterbacks legacies by saying well he had so and so reciever so i don't respect his acculades fuck you skip bayless and collin cowheard. Peace all
If a fighter is cut from the UFC, they usually sign with Strikeforce and work their way up to prove themselves again. If AJ loves fighting, this is what he'll do. Now if you're cut from the NFL, 6 times outta 10, your career will simply end. And that sucks. Speaking of the NFL, a football player can make up to 310,000 dollars a year but somehow, 70% of retired athletes go bankrupt after their 3 year careers. Where are those poor guys' interviews, ESPN, you fucking snakes
Waah waah waah SOPA means you cant watch their pay per view fights for free. How can you blame them? Plenty of websites have the video for you. Ive watched the recaps on Yahoo and Deadspin with the highlight clips. They might have a deal to pay the UFC to show it to you for free. So go there and give them the hits and cry up a more important SOPA tree.
@Paulied526 poor argument. SOPA may not affect UFC at all but it will affect YouTube, Wikipedia, and many other sites. Yesterday a supporter of SOPA said it would not affect YouTube, how often do we get lied to by the government though, right? You may not have any comments to troll and bitch in if SOPA and PIPA get passed. Bet that makes you really think about it doesn't it? "NO, i couldn't care less FAGGOT!" = your response...
Good job Lorenzo!!! You made them look like a bunch of scared assholes!!! You have built a WONDERFUL company and should be proud of everything you have accomplished. I would be great at picking fights if you are interested!
theres favorites everywhere u go be it school, football or any sport those who are favored get more its life all u can do is do ur best promote urself well and dont piss off ur boss like any job.. if ur a carpenter and u piss ur boss off dont be surprised if ur not called for a job and its the very same here
I can understand why the UFC supports SOPA, if people upload their fights on youtube all the time they would make less money. However, SOPA is not the way..
“The problem is, who decides what is copyright infringement? … If you’re setting up a system of blacklisting websites at the national level you’re basically installing a censorship mechanism that is almost identical, technically, to the mechanism the Chinese use to
censor their Internet, that the Iranians use, and so on,” says Rebecca
MacKinnon, a former CNN journalist, in a Bloomberg interview.
@MarkHorp go fuck yourself, i hope the internet is taken away because everyone now days relies on the internet and has GOTTEN SOFT. i think everybody should stop whining and quit being pussies
This is one of my most favorite of the UFC's videos in a long time.
As anyone who knows me I am not a sympathizer of private sector, corporate greed; and I am completely a proactivist for fighters being paid fairly. At the same time I thoroughly understand Lorenzo's business logic, and I have a new level of respect for him because of this interview. I also love his team for what they've done to a almost dead sport.
I believe that open communication like this is the key for future relationships
the interviewer is a big flesh diamond... stupid fuck had no idea that lorenzo is a god damn genius... wow, who knew the bob arum haterade had made it into the espn corporate water coolers... fuck those greedy farts, fuck espn.

GrapplersQuest 1 month ago
@GrapplersQuest EPSN doesn't pay undercard fighters, promoters do.
ESPN pays around $100,000 per show, and that's to pay for everything.
When a boxer gets paid a couple hundred for a fight, he's a warm body there to make a young up and comer look good.
When a UFC fighter makes $6000-20,000 on a PPV card, that's a fighter AT THE TOP OF THE SPORT.
Know what boxers make at the top?. MILLIONS!
What do non-UFC MMA fighters make per fight... I can guarantee you it isn't UFC's $6000 standard pay.

MarkHorp 1 month ago
@MarkHorp When did piracy = free speech dip shit. SOPA and PIPA definitely have some flaws int he legal language, which is why the White House isn't supporting it. The bills are a mess, and this is common in the senate. It'll take a good 12-18 months of them working on the language of it so it protects what it's intended to protect.
NeoOsiris19 1 month ago
@NeoOsiris19
I have never said piracy = free speech.
I have said SOPA is against free speech.

Especially when the majority of fighters, a large majority, will retire from the sport and will need to have second jobs in order to to live after fighting.

what the sport of mma needs is mark cuban and vince mcmahon to come in and start their own fight organization and start buying out the best fighters and paying them more money. they can obviously afford it and fighters arent getting paid much right now anyway. they could start off with just a few divisions like heavyweight, light heavyweight, and middleweight. and with their TV leverage they could get a TV contract with a major network and easily compete with the ufc.

Peace all

@aron1977

Paulied526 1 month ago
@Paulied526 poor argument. SOPA may not affect UFC at all but it will affect YouTube, Wikipedia, and many other sites. Yesterday a supporter of SOPA said it would not affect YouTube, how often do we get lied to by the government though, right? You may not have any comments to troll and bitch in if SOPA and PIPA get passed. Bet that makes you really think about it doesn't it? "NO, i couldn't care less FAGGOT!" = your response...
