  • the voice one it gets to 50 ft it sounds like jeremy clarkson

  • @DJGCInDaMix 'once' SORRY

  • @THEQWERTYJAX Trisomic boy !

  • Microsoft flight simulator 20: Out on March the 23rd in 2024!

    Pre-order now!

  • ATCHOUM........check!!!XXDD

  • @TheSuperpilote loooool rofl

  • MANN, this is real life...WOW!

  • How did you get permission to be inside the cockpit for landing ? Or are you an employee of EasyJet?

  • lol the pilot say or cabin crew say that you have to turn off your electronic devices how come this guy is using one infront of the pilots loool

  • @florentlondon perhaps it's an approved radiation free device?

  • The airbus callout "Retard" means to "retard" or pull back the throttles to idle before landing.

  • Good video, but the Retard part made me laugh :P

  • Who is Darth Vader calling a retard?!

  • Retard retard retard :D !!! LOL

  • 0:18 + 0:24 bless you!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrTillster Recharge? Are you serious? Are you sure that I'm the Goon? Lol

  • The retard call just informs the pilots that the thrust ie power - is still there and it "reminds" the pilots that they need to reduce thrust before or at touchdown. You do not have to retard the levers at this time - I have done before and after the call it depends on the conditions of the day. Today I flew an airbus and "retarded" ie reduced power before it even had chance to tell me to retard the thrust levers ! Hope this helps regards flyinga320

  • @flyinga320 cool! thanks for clarifying

  • @rpg481, in plain English (or should that be 'plane' English lol) I believe it basically means 'you are about to touch down and turn the engines off'!

  • what does retard means?

  • @rpg481 RETARD THROTTLES TO IDDLE (0 THRUST) .

  • @larrybueno oh ok thanks!

  • Why did you look at it then?

  • can you still go out and look in the cockpit? . i though they did stop that since 2001

  • made it look easy

  • im a air cadet was was just wondering that if i take my 3822 will i be aloud in the cockpit. i can use it at air-shows to get into VIP areas and most planes that public arnt aloud in. thanks in advance and im asking because im going to new york and Amsterdam in august

  • @nathan13593 no, i've tried it already...they'll let you dpo it after the flight sometimes though

  • wow, big sneeze @ 0:20 and 0:26 !!

  • So the cabin crew tell you to turn of you cameras and ds of yet the pilot doest give a hoot when your recording this video. They should make up there minds

  • wow ... :)

  • nice video Christopherwoo

  • It says retard reatard retard

  • bless you!

  • wonderful landing

  • nice landing. i wana see a clear cockpit view of BA A318 landing at LCY!

  • Is this an easyJet flight?

  • that's right "retard" you retards, just kidding its funny tho..

  • I have always wanted to be an airline pilot since I was small. I LOVE flying!!!!!

  • pretty sure everyone has haha

  • manual landings are much sought after as you need a certain number to stay current/qualified, this can be a problem on longhaul.

  • the landing system detected a fart and tried to insult them :)

  • what plane?

  • why does it say retard!

  • Lol, good question....it's to advise the pilot that it is time to reduce the throttles to idle to allow the aircraft to settle onto the runway.

  • it knew nathan waswatchin so it called him a retard :P

  • @e14kid100 Throttle retard. It's not being rude!

  • @e14kid100 It is telling you to put the engine levers to idle

  • That was one of the best videos i have seen of a plane landing it was a view i have never seen before of Gatwick thanks for that and lets have some more

  • 2 of oncles[Co-Pilots]and my dad[Captain] wprk for easyJet

  • when do pilots put down the gear

  • @reedgsxr roughly 5nm from the runway ;)

  • Best cockpit vid i've seen yet, great steady camera work, gives a real insight.....curious as to what the computer says 3 times around 1 min 50 sec....sounds like retire or something..

  • It's saying "Retard"

    Great Vid!

  • Smooth Landing

  • ha ha the plane said RETARD

  • do the pilots use autoland to line up with the runway and then disconnect autopilot to land it??

  • They use autopilot to align the aircraft with the runway. Now, if they use autoland that means the aircraft will land by itself, autopilot will land it. They usually disconnect the autopilot at around 500 feet and land manually.

  • thanks a lot.!!

  • I mostly disconnect when I have the runway in sight. I'm copilot on B737NG. Mostly you intercept ILS (if possible) and then fly manually.

  • okay...thanks a lot.!!

  • no, disconnecting autopilot varies on conditions+pilot choice.. most disconnect on 10+nm and some do from 20000ft.

  • okay....thanks.!

  • welcome :)

  • 20,000 thousand feet? i think u mean 200 feet!

  • No i ment 20000ft Fl200

  • but dont u keep it all the away on ILS untill 200ft or whatever altitude u picked?

  • No not neccassirly,,

pilots will normally fly the ILS and around 10dme on average will disconnect the autopilot, flying the aircraft manually. Following the Flight Directors.

It is also likely that on the manual approach and visibility is good, the flight directors will be taken off, and the aircraft will be landed using visual flight rules.

As stated, a pilot could take off the autopilot anytime he wanted.

  • some pilots do it for the kick, they fly the whole STAR manually.

i like to do t on the sim, on in real

  • 148 :L

souns like hes sayin RETARD retard

  • the GPWS is saying retard, its saying retard because it means for the captain or co-pilot whoevers landing the aircraft for them to throttle back completely for touchdown

  • That's true. They only say that if you had disconect autothrottle. It's called Pilot flying and Pilot non-flying

  • yeah, planes say "retard" to remind the pilots to slow down on touchdown, I think.

  • kool :)

  • This is Absolutly FANTASTIC Approach.

  • Bless you !!!

  • A319...

  • a330?

  • hehe yeah parking ..train railway ... sometimes i stay after work to se like they landing ...:) this is samll machine i think ...respect 4 all pilots !! piss to alll ignorants hehe!

  • Tell me about it chris!

  • at last someones said it, simple things please simple minds i guess

  • @Christopherwoo:

I like how you specify "Real life cockpit landing" in the title. So many people uploading flight simulator videos out there!

  • @Christopherwoo Looks like the Microsoft flight simmulator!

  • @swordpalme not the simulator I got running lol

  • LOL ! the retard bit did make me laugh

  • haha 50 40 30 20 RETARD RETARD RETARD!!

  • the pilot has swine Flu!

  • why does the computer call you a retard? plus, it looked like a smooth landing but its always bumpy up back!

  • It's because he had to do all the work for them!!! He'll always complain just before hitting the runway!! hahah

  • man when you say real life you start to give me doubts, whether its a simulator but i'll believe you.

  • Ah man!I miss England! =(Went to England last year, stayed at East Sussex,Horsham. I flew with Sterling, they dont exist anymore(dont remember why)and I remember landing at this airport.

  • 0:19...was that a sneeze??

  • yes

  • Yes lool, u can hear after he says excuse me :D

  • I think it was because he said " 'scuse me"

  • was two sneezes! lol

  • hehe..

  • bless you!^^

  • 50, 40, 30, 20, retard retard retard

  • looooooool exactly what i was about to write hahaha

  • Lol thats cuz airbus are retarded planes

  • and the loud sneezes at 0:20 and 0:25

  • What?? Clearly never flown a thing...

  • lol the system calling the pilots retard that's just hilarious xD

  • Hey. How come the autopilot started calling the pilot a retard repeatedly, while touching down. Was it jealous or something?

  • no retard means throttle idle and flare

  • haha, i know, funny, but it's to tell them to start breaking. Just in case they forgot to stop the aircraft. Easy mistake, i always forget to break when i land, and it's keeps on calling me a retard.

  • You probably got it set up on your FS to call you gaytard

  • actualy i do. I've just got fs2004 and it's shouting gaytard at me.

  • It's not to do with braking at all, it means move thrust levers to idle for the flare and touchdown. They don't need to be reminded to brake, autobrake will already be set if needed as part of the landing checklist.

  • its the flaring system for autoland

  • lolhahahahahahahaha

  • Who says im a passenger? Dumbass.

  • hey how did you get to sit with the captain in the cockpit

  • He blowed him

  • thanks everyone!!!

  • i believe it's the ILS from gatwick. might and probably am wrong if someone else knows better

  • nice vid!!!... uhmmm I would like to know something... does somebody know what's the li'l sound (like a telephone ring) that all Airbus make when they approach??

  • Autopilot Disengage I think

  • It's a MASTERWARN

  • Yep the first one is a MASTER WARNING for the Autopilot Disengage and the Second is the MASTER CAUTION for the Autothrottle disengage .

  • If you're talking about the sound at 35 seconds in. Its the Autopilot disengaging. Once they have gear down and flaps set, if they can see the runway they usually disengage it to land it manually.

  • wicked vid cheers,

  • 0:20 .... Bless you...... 0:26 .... Bless you.

  • bit of a random question,,,,,,does anyone know what determines which runway would be used as the active one ie, at london gatwick 26L or 8R is it to do with weather or just a certain time they switch over. also in the vid it looked liked they turned onto the other runway so does that get used as a taxi way when it is in active????

  • From an atc perspective there are a number of things to take into account with regards to the runway in use. the main one being the wind - a/c prefer to land into the wind, and take off into it, all to do with principles of flight. Not an aerodrome controller so cant really comment with regards to the use of the runway - but I cant see it being used as a taxiway. Mainly because the pilots will have a book detailing the landing procedures and taxiways at each aerodrome.

  • How did you get to jumpseat, you just asked, I'd like to do that on my next flight.

    Any tips? lol

  • How on Earth did you manage to jumpseat an Ezy flight ?

You must be one of them :)

  • Retard is 'airbus's' term and instructions for the crew to push the thrust levers to idle. The GPWS at the required height will configure the warning to retard the engines during the flare.

  • Did you ask the captain or did you just start filming?

  • Did you ask the captain or did you just start filming?

  • Aer Lingus are opening a new hub at gatwick in April. They will base 4 Airbus 320 aircraft and fly to

    Malaga ,

    Faro , Nice ,

    Zurich ,

    Munich ,

    Vienna ,

    Ireland west Knock

    and Dublin.

  • retard?

  • that's what pilots call it when they flare for landing

  • Retard is when pilots close the throttle when they flare the airplane

  • bless you

  • airbus

  • looks like a 747 cockpit to me

  • No. It's an Airbus A320.

  • its an Airbus A319

    Check out the tags

  • its an A319, look at the tags, thats mainly what easyjet operate, and u cant just look at the flight deck and say its an A320, cos the A318 A319 A320 and A321 all have the same cockpits!

  • You're right. I said A320 just to inform it's not a 747 as buukyak reported. The correct anwer without knowing it's an EasyJet should be that it's a A318/19/20/21 family airplane. Thanks for the info!

  • airbus, right?

  • hi iam just waundering if monarach airlines travel to sanford airport in orlando thanks

  • i love the way the computer calls "RETARD, RETARD, RETARD" lol

  • bless u lol

  • HUH? Is that supposed to be english?

  • That was a greaser bro! Nicely done.

  • loooool sneeze hehe but cool video

  • ROFL at the sneezing ba ha ha ha

  • how did you manage to get the jump seat? do you ask cabin crew or somthing.

  • no, it doesnt work like that. You have to know the captain and the captain only. the F/O cant invite anybody into the cockpit.

  • well i think it does because i emailed Virgin atlantic about me doing that with my next flight with them and they replied ask cabin crew and they will ask the captain.

  • hmm...thats weird...

  • No wait..that must be the crap flightsim I played..LOL. Yep - it does mean retard the throttles to idle on the whole..although some texts do explain this differently.

  • Sorry you're wrong. Retard means to close thrust levers=idle thrust. It's a reminder not an order. No jet aircraft ever (to my knowledge) approaches at flight idle. With high lift devices and the resultant drag a fair amount of thrust is needed to maintain speed whilst keeping it on a stable trajectory (typically 3 degrees). In an A319 (this video) around 50%(N1) thrust is required.

I'm an airline pilot with over 10 years experience on jets so this isn't rubbish gleaned from flight sim! Cheers!

  • Yeh I know I was wrong.. i explained that in my second text before you posted that ! Read below !

  • Gesundheit!!

  • Bless you mate! Nice video! :-)

  • classic sneezing there, lol

  • lol

  • i was watching this and sneezed right when he did. It was really wierd.

  • Otherwise, anybody know a pilot schools, or trainings that's teaching from zero to ATPL...in Europe, and of course the prices doesn't gonna be same for an Lambo Murciélago price...:D i know that is a stupid question but i need some info, from the big world...if you know something fine school, training, pls write me :) THX a lot.

  • try oxford aviation acadamy

  • Mattinhk are you an A340 pilot really??? U are 21 yrs old, but it's ok, i belive, just it's really intersting for me, usually the young pilots got a job on a320 and 737, but on the a340 or the other bigger plane like ,,triple seven,, or a330, 747... require a lots of hour on type...but it's all right i heard that somebody got a F/O job on 744 who was 22 yrs old...but i say again i belive, just it is a very unsual thing, and of course i'm very envious :D:D:D anyway the video is great. :)

  • haha!!''thirty....twenty....retard retard retard!!'' lol!! JKS!!!!

  • beautiful landing

  • Is sneezing (19 seconds) a good thing at this point?

  • Yeh they get the bird down on instruments these days ;)
