Today on CBS, there was a piece about them. Apparently Bella was attacked by coyotes and died. It seems that Tara carried Bella back to the refuge office. Aw, too bad. And other elephants there are consoling Tara. :(

hmmm. I hope this never went wrong. Elephants are intelligent, but they don't always realize how much stronger they are than other animals. One pull with it's trunk could literally tear a human limb off let alone a dog. Hope Tara hasn't tried to high 5 her little doggie friend and send it flying.

A friend of mine has a border collie. Beautiful dog but unfortunately we think something is mentally wrong with it. All it does is eat, sleep (rarely), and run in circles. The owner says the dog is just "herding" but I think she's in denial. It's so bad that the dog is leaving circular track-like marks in the carpet around the coffee table. Is your dog also such a vigorous "herder"?

i am a huge animal rights activist -- i rehome dogs and cats and volunteer in a shelter don't eat meat -- have 4 animals -- i was criticized by this guy who said i had a "frivolous hobby" mainly reserved for middle aged white women and should get a life - nice eh??? what a bastard -- just do what your heart tells you and be kind to those who cannot do for themselves! thanks so much!

THANK YOU for doing what you do. I feel the same way about animals that you do. Don't listen to anyone like that-it's up to US to help creatures who can't help themselves....it's the MOST REWARDING thing you can EVER do to help a little animal. I just spent 6 months in the summer socializing some stray cats and then I had to trap them--drove 3 hours to Chicago to a shelter that socializeds wild cats--TWO WEEKS later she completed the socialization & got them both adopted TO THE SAME FAMILY !
