The paintings were done by my great grandfather, Oskar Gross. He would be pleased that you enjoyed his work. :) I will have make a trip here to see them in person
This is an interesting bank and I enjoy seeing the ornaments. The one he did in Grinnell is nice too with the 2 terra cotta lions out front, but one was severely damaged a few times and they were quoted some outlandish amount to make a "replica" in concrete, no idea if it's been replaced or what.
One of my favorite memories from childhood...going to this bank with my father. My favorite part was the painting of the cows. We had to go close out my Dad's safety deposit box at the bank when he died in 2005, it was really sad to end my memory that way, I haven't been back since. Thanks for sharing the video.
i live in owatonna and it is sad how the residents (and myself) take this place of history for granted and people from all over come here just to see the bank.
Yeah, it seemed odd that it actually functions as a bank with people coming and going as though it were an ordinary building. No doubt they too stood in awe their first time inside.
lol. i go to owatonna to see my grandparents. and my dad(who grew up in owatonna) always get mad when i call it a small town. supposedly its a small city.
if you come to see the bank please ask about going up stairs to see more . You well not be disapointed.

I work at the Wells Fargo branch in Grinnell Iowa and ours is a Louis Sullivan Jewel box as well. Come and visit ours too if you enjoy his work!

Your film is very nice, however I wish you would have included footage of the paintings in this building! They are also fabulous.

Love the video but you must understand....the style is called SULLIVAN.
Sullivan is the source of Art Nouveau source the other way around.
And obviously Sullivan was the genius spark to Wright's genius blaze.
