I saw Tommy last night in Portland Maine with his brother Phil and a group of backup musicians and he was absolutely incredible. He is such an excellent entertainer. You can instantly tell he's in love with his music because he is always smiling and truly enjoying his time playing for the audience. He also told us he will be releasing a new DVD soon and I can't wait to add it to my collection. A true gentleman, and a MASTER guitarist. God bless you Tommy. We love you.

I believe that there is no finer guitarist on this planet than Tommy. This video is pretty impressive but I saw him play last week in Sydney & he was on fire!!!! He is so much better now than he was a couple of years ago & that is saying something.

He has so much heart & feel in his playing even putting to one side his devastating speed. He is a great human being as well.

I marval at Tommy's technical skills - unparalleled, but (and I know I'm in a minority here), I haven't seen any of his videos where he shows the soul to go with the technique. It's as if he's just saying "look at how spectacular I am", rather than saying "listen to the depth and breadth of this music". Just my opinion.

Hey Mike,

Do yourself a favor and see him live. After that, please return and drop another comment. The bottom line is this: as with any musician, he feeds off his audience (everyone needs a sounding-board). What youtube fails to capture, is his sheer enthusiasm. Trust me, when you see him play up-front and in-person, you'll sing a different tune. There's a valid reason why he's widely considered to be the quitessential acoustic guitar player on this planet.

Saw Tommy last night at Flynn Center in Vermont...first row. This is absolutely NOT sped up. He plays this fast.....even the part at 2:12. He is the one speeding it up himself with his talent and I saw it with my own two eyes. He really is that unbelievably good.

You don't have to be a "full on muso" to know that tunings don't exist for no reason. Tune a guitar the regular way and tune it to 444, you can hear a difference. Tommy likes the sound and he likes the way it feels when playing. Nothing wrong with that, while Tommy loves to put up a good show, this has nothing to do with that.

I have the CD. I have tried to slow it down one frame at a time. His hand is just a blur. And if that isn't enough, he's combining numerous techniques including percussion in this piece. There are a lot of good guitar players out there but I have never seen anyone as good as Tommy ... ever!
