If I hear another comparison about which version is better, I'm gonna puke. The original version always has something special, especially to those who grew up on it.

Covers range from terrible to awesome, but why compare to the original or between versions? Apples and oranges cannot be compared.

I love this version, it's heartfelt, clean, and EJ really gets behind the song. Lovely.

as great as e. johnson is, and as many "thumbs down" as this comment has gotten, i have to agree w/ theslian here. nobody beats paul simon at his own game. simon up there w/ joni mitchell, james taylor, dylan, lennon, etc etc... one of the greatest pop singer/songwriters in history. covering his classic material is a great thing to do, but pretty much nobody will ever top his own original versions. they're often essentially perfect.

He was doing another Paul Simon cover on that tour as well: "April Come She Will." I saw him on that tour and he played it at The Roxy in Southern California. I had never heard the song before, but it gave me goose bumps from head to toe. I've since heard Simon's original, and I have to say Eric's version blows it away. Some artists just know how to take a good song and make it a great song. I dare say it was as good as "Kathy's Song," if not better. He is such an under-appreciated singer.
