If these guy threw full power punches it wouldn't be two guys just playing around, it would be two guys going for a KO. You do not throw with power when you are sparring with someone, unless you are training at Chute Boxe or something. But then that might explain why Wandy slurs his speech now.

Really expected MUCH more from these two, Oleg is an MMA fighter, Lundgren is an ex-Karate champ. Thin action, too much holding, most of the shots either missed or landed on guard. Oleg's defence stank, any of the top 20 pro fighters in his division would have KO'ed him in the first, and the next 20 in Round 2 etc. Lundgren was chasing him down but threw no power shots of note until the very end.

He had one professional boxing match, but that was against a powerlifter with no prior professional experience. Lundgren was a champion in Kyokushin, where punches are only allowed to the body in competition.

Honestly, this fight went about as well as I expected.

The punching training they did in MMA and karate was not the same as the training a boxer does. For one, it's not as extensive because Taktarov and Lundgren also needed to train grappling and kicking. In Dolph's case, he probably trained karate-style punching which I believe is different than boxing punching (Not to say it's not effective). You can't expect either of them to be polished boxers.

I've watched dozens if MMA guys turn their hands to Boxing, and they all, ALL put on a better show than this. I'm only an amateur myself but I have absolutely no doubt even I could have outpointed either. There is simply no excuse for the poor standard of pugilism delivered above. They disgraced themselves.

You overestimated how their experience in other martial arts would translate to boxing. Taktarov came from a time in MMA when fighters could be one dimensional, and Lundgren's style was strictly body punching. It's not the same.
