In response to 'God Bless you all', I pointed out that nobody actually sneezed.
The 'Hargreaves' I referred to is the person speaking on this video. You can sort of work this out, from the way it says 'Reverend George Hargeaves' - at the start.
He sounds hateful because he is more full of hateful opinions than a month's worth of Daily Mails, is a homphobic bigot, and actually tried to get the Red Dragon removed from the Welsh Flag in 2007 on the grounds it's 'satanic'.
Well even though I am a Christian over my dead body will I allow the Welsh dragon to be removed from the Welsh flag, I'm Welsh and God damn proud of it, but what evidence is there that he wants the dragon removed? Can you at least show me a video?
Since youtube doesn't allow links to be posted, look up Hargeaves on Wikipeda and follow the links there instead and get back to me. Charlie Brooker's column is one of the best takes on Hargeaves.
Over the past 50-60 years, Afro-Carribean people have successfully integrated into, and been accepted by British society.
I was wondering what the reverends` take is on the observation that the large majority of followers of Islam have neither attempted to, nor wish to, integrate into British society? Can he explain why?
This moron's political party wants to replace the Red Dragon the Welsh Flag with the cross of St David, because the dragon looks Satanic. How doe he expect to get elected?
This guy is a stupid prick, he should butt out of politics the seperation of church and state is too important. He wants to brainwash people to become prolife freaks
hey I'm trying to be a christian and I would like to know when should I kill my kid if they wear different fabrics or when they talk back to me probably both huh?
OH BTW i think I got the stoning of my wife down now thanks!
He was the one and the same person who wrote Cruisin and So Macho. It is a big irony. So, gay people should not buy Sinitta albums, because they are funding him
I'm a christian. I lie and i can be selfish and unkind and do the rubbish same stuff everyone else does. so do all the christians i know. i have gay christian friends as well. so what? we are all equal in the eyes of God, and it is up to neither you, nor me to condemn or judge anyone.
im not judging anyone-im explaining what the bible says about salvation. and what it says, to sum up, is that an all loving god allowed hell to be created, oh for our own good 'free will' although it does say 'most shall perish there', and it goes on to speak about sinners with sustained disregard and superiority throughout the new testament-using terms such as 'fool' would suggest the bible judges the sinner as much as the sin, however it contradicts itself in the odd verse here and there.
im not trying to have a go at u personally but i think alot of young christians are fed all these lines about how wonderful god is & how its important to show ppl that theyr wrong if they think that the bible is all laws etc,its actually 'full of good news'. lovely, until u read the thing,& realise that largely, sadly its actually not.its mostly bad news for most people. read some of the new test it explains that u cant conciously sin & 'count' on gods forgiveness in there somewhere.
if u had of used the space inside ur skull commonly known as a brain to read the debate i had in full, u might of noticed i was actually critiquing the bible, and further more people who try to live by it when even they cant deny whats wrong with it. if ur too illiterate to pick up on that, i would suggest you are the cunt who should be living in america.
4 eg alot of the laws in the old test are overuled in the new when jesus comes and changes things such as animal sacrifice, dietary laws etc.that doesnt mean they were 'wrong' at the time they were writen.also there are many accurate prophesies some about jesus in the old which would suggest it had divine inspiration.
it makes more sense to learn how to interpret the bible in full, then how to decifer which bits are right and wrong i think. if ur going to be a christian that is anyway.
i didn't say that they were 'wrong' at the time, i pointed out that (since they were overuled) they arent right now,&i didn't say the whole of the old testament.
but you're right. i could do with knowing a lot more about the bible, and reading more into it and whatnot. but luckily for me, christian doesnt equal manic bible reader. you are still missing the whole point i am trying to convey- we can call ourselves christians, not because of what we've done or do, but because of God's grace for us.
u said that sections of the old testament might be wrong, because the men who wrote it may have made mistakes. i just pointed out what i saw was wrong with that.
gods grace is for everyone, u call yourself a christian when u 'repent from ur sins' and accept that grace. u cant be a christian if the bible condemns ur lifestyle which prevents u from accepting that grace in any kind of meaningful mannor, ie if ur gay. which is my point on why the msg of salvation isnt quite so gr8 for everyone.
No, you're wrong. God's grace is for everyone. 'hate the sin not the sinner'. we all sin,be it lying, theft, murder.. God sees all of these sins on equal grounding.if His grace wasnt for sinners, then it would be for no one.
Jesus said that even when we sinned the same sin over and over and over, we would be forgiven. Anyone can be a christian, no matter what they've done. who are you or anyone else to say 'you can't be a christian' to anyone? Anyone is free to accept the love God has for them.
But to sin over and over again in full knowledge that what you are doing is not what He was talking about either. Ignorance is one thing, intentional sin is another. And there are certain things which are not just "sin" but are "abominations" to the Lord our God. Those are, I think, the ones that Nousvolons... was talking about.
then why didnt u just say 'ive asked myself that question, i havent got an answer' when i raised my issue with what u said, rather than being defensive about it?
to paraphrase what u wrote 'the bible is written by god through men, but men make mistakes so its ok for me to say some bits arent right, especially in the old test', to paraphrase what i said 'if the bible is inaccurate bcos its written by men, then not only did god allow mistakes to be made in his holy book, but who is to say whats right in it and whats dismissable, where does that leave ur faith'?
no that wasnt really what i was saying. i was saying that some bits could be wrong, and more importantly some bits (although translated right) are controversial since people have different takes on it. some people take some things to mean something different than others would. i have my own opinions of what the bible 'guidelines' ask us to do, and believe that they are right, but since im nothing, i wouldnt feel comfortable laying down them as 'rules' that christians are supposed to comply to.
the interpretation issue is a sound enough point- some parts may be literal or metaphorical etc fair enough.
but what u actually said, and then repeated, is that some parts 'could be wrong'.
how can u not see that its illogical to follow a faith based in a book that might contain errors-not only does it imply that when god claimed it was his word in the bible, that his word was flawed, it has reprecussions for the credibility of the bible itself.
my taking some of the bible with caution rather than blindly following certain parts written by men who believed that they had words from God, merely demonstrates that I am thinking about what I am doing, and not robotically following everything in front of me.i am still human, and it is in our nature to question.
Certain parts of the Old Testament are impossible to follow since they go against what Jesus said. eg'an eye for an eye'is a direct contradiction of'forgive others as i forgive you'
i honestly dont mean this to sound patronising but i think u might benefit from doing some research in2 christian theology in specific regs to the old testament-there is alot of insightful theories about how it should be interpreted in context, and how the divisions between the old and new testament can be accounted for-none of which use the argument that the old testament is 'wrong'...
i think u either accept the idea that god is all powerful, inspred the bible in full and made no mistakes in it (hence the verse this is MY word let no man add or take from it), or u leave urself on very shaky ground where nothing said in the bible can be trusted.
i get so fed up of weak christians who dont have the guts or conviction to stand by the bible in full and so make ridiculous statements about which bits are reliable and which arent despite the gaping hole this puts in their beliefs
im simply pointing out a fundamental flaw in ur belief system under the impression that scene as ur on a public website posting about it, you might perhaps want to discuss it?
my life doesnt revolve around picking holes in peoples beliefs, but i like debating religion as im curious about it, hence why im here.
u dont have to resort to characterising me as some looser because u cant find a response for the actual content of the discussion...
I have not characterised you as anything, 'loser' is your word, not mine. you have attempted to pick holes in everything i have said, you have attempted to hurt & insult me, & i have nothing further to say to someone who starts building up a counter argument with someone before they even attempt to understand it.
if you ever want to discuss God in an open and genuinely curious manner, then feel free to comment me.
i am finished commenting here, as it is clear that i cannot get through to you.
i cant handle being disagreed with, so therefore u are mean
if u ever want to agree with everything i say, contact me again.
i cant convert u because u know more about my faith than i do, so therefore ur not even worth speaking to im not here to discuss the possibility i might have anything to learn.
and you have just proved all the points my previous comment stated.
you are very wrong if you think after 2 years of being a christian i can't handle being disagreed with.
but no, i can't convert you. i have asked myself all the questions that you are asking me, and they are not answered by becoming a christian, you learn to accept that it is through faith & not proof that we believe. faith is the first step towards becoming a christian. only then can answers start falling into place.
Anyone who tells you you have no morals or values because you dont believe in God is speaking rubbish. i really disagree with that. christians are just as good and bad as everyone else, and we would do well to remember it.
As a non believer I thought that this series might just change my attitude towards religion and I watched it with an open mind.
How wrong was I????
I have no problem with people believing in something that I dont, thats a personal choice.... but to make it look like you can only have morals and values if you follow religion is scraping the bottom of the barrel.
I hope that people on the show will be saved. You know its not untill jesus comes into your life that you really know the true meaning of salvation. My testimony is not a fabrication, thats really how it happened, one minute i was a maybe person the next Jesus totally turned my life around.I am now a more relaxed, kind and gentle person.I am humble in life. Some people in my church have been cured of drugs and alcohol abuse.Jesus is there for you,all you have to do is ask him into your life.god bless
After watching the show I found that I didn't like Christianity any more than I did before (:
I Disagree with the Homosexuality part and I think he was too harsh on the big guy. He is right he wasn't explaining anything, he was just Forcing people to believe in God and not helping at all. Coming back to the homosexuality part, I don't see how it is harming our world today. I mean there is an increased Birthrate anyway.
Oh! and by the way George let something quite telling slip in the first show "B.I.B.L.E basic instructions before leaving earth" that was the mantra of a certain Mr Hovind (creationist nutcase) who is currently doin' ten in the pen, I wonder if George has been influenced by the ridiculous "Dr Dino"?
It's ironic that the "witchcraft" practiced by the girl on the show is condemned as being "sinful". Paganism was THE religion of this country long before Christianity came along & began burning, drowning & torturing innocent people. Modern Chrisians may not torture & murder anymore, but their arrogance, ignorance, puritanism & bigotry is alive & well. To condemn a person for being homosexual is unjust, violent & utterly wrong. Put down your fairystory Bibles & behave like decent human beings.
i'm not condemning every christian at all, i'm condemning the hypocrisy of institutions like the Anglican church who openly denounce homosexuality & i'm condemning the general hypocrisy of christianity writ large...my views may well apall christians, but they are only seeing their own hypocrisy reflected back at them. I won't be told by priests, vicars, bishops, popes & church attendees how to conduct my life, especially when I find their own views abhorent in the extreme.
"Modern Chrisians may not torture & murder anymore, but their arrogance, ignorance, puritanism & bigotry is alive & well."
Your post clearly puts all christians under one heading. Priests, vicars, bishops and the pope are all to do with one type of church so obviously they have the same views.
Perhaps you ought to get out and actually speak to some everyday christians, and see that everyone is different, with different views about different subjects. You would be surprised.
Christians may well have differing views, but dogma isn't about differences of opinion. For example, divorce & Catholicism are incompatible, yet many Catholics divorce...making them either hypocrites or people who reject Catholic teaching. To pick & choose what you want to believe is hypocrisy, you either agree with a dogma that condemns homosexuality or you don't. When thousands of ppl share the same fixed view, something is rotten. I call religion moral tyranny.
adj: Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
key word there being OR.
christianity isnt like other religions, because all that is required of you is belief in Jesus. There are opinions and guidelines that are considered to allow you a better way of living, but in the end, all we are asked to do is believe in God. check out john 3:16 if u want the best proof i can give you.
Few people emulate the life Christ is said to have lived according to scripture. A life of poverty, humility & self sacrifice. I don't see much evidence to suggest that this is the model that most Christians follow. Belief in God is enough? It is our actions that define us, not our beliefs. The actions of the religious hierarchy have for hundreds of years been the actions of murderers, oppressors, tyrants & thieves. I live a blameless life, without God & without Christ. Let God judge me for that
No one can fully imitate th life that Jesus led because we are human.
The point of him dying on the cross was so that we would be forgiven for our wrongs.
christians are normal people who try to become better & put others ahead of ourselves because we want to imitate Jesus. we can never fully succeed at that, but we can try. we do not deserve the labels that were given in your previous comments,& you can never justify labelling millions of completely different people under such crude headings.
quoting the bible out of context will 'prove' anything you want it to, looking at it holistically will explain to you how you, as a christian, should be living your life.
to state you are a follower of christ on the one hand, yet to denounce the rest of the requirements set out in the bible as 'optional guidelines' on the other, is surely foolishness in the extreme.
yes, christians try to follow how the bible ( basically how Jesus) wants us to, but we do not do this in order to be 'saved', because it is by God's grace alone that we are saved. we are not special, we have done nothing to deserve anything, and God did not give conditions on his love. God's love is unconditional; amazing grace.
ive always considered it misguided nonsense when christians say that salvation is a free gift. its a free gift that requires u to DO something; 'repent and turn from ur sins'. that becomes a little complicated when ur 'sin' is being gay,4example.so in order to marry outdated laws with modern soceity christians say 'its ok u dont have to follow all the rules salvation is free'.
i have more respect for zealots really at least they understand their own religion and follow it as it should be.
what it means is that by gods grace, through faith in jesus that we are saved,we have no right to get to heaven, because we are all sinners.heaven is a perfect place, why should we all get to heaven if we are not perfect. But Jesus is showing us that we can all get to heaven through him, because, because he died on the cross for us, took all our sins, and said he that beleive in me,shall be saved. And he proved is love for us for us by dieing on the cross at calvary.
i understand what the concept of salvation is suppose to mean, did u actually read the comment i wrote? looks like u typed this in some sort of frenzy?
I can't say that certain 'rules' are the law of God, because there is a lot of controversy over the bible between christians. Since i have an open mind i would not go as far to call anything that could merely be my own or other people's opinions 'law'.
i think calling it God's 'law' gives the wrong impression as well, as it implies that if you break this law you will be punished. But God does not punish, He forgives us no matter what.
ur philosophy is the hard thing 2 get my head around
r u now saying that chunks of the bible which is supposedly written by god is actually subject to the mistakes of personal opinion?in which case is god lying when he says he is the author of the bible,or is he just such a crap god that he allowed mistakes to end up in there?IF theres a god,i doubt he would waste time making laws if they were'optional',i think christians who cant cope with the ugly parts of their religion use that as a cop out
God did not write the bible, never claimed to and you are the first person iv ever known to think that.. it was written by lots and lots of different people.
The bible was translated and can be taken in different ways , which is what i mean by controversy. and yes, God forgives us no matter what, all we have to do is ask Him.
I think you should do some research into things before opening your mouth. You clearly do not know enough about christianity to be commenting on it.
did i say god physically wrote the bible? erm, nine. hence the semimoron
so if god wrote the bible through men, and allowed them to make mistakes whilst translating what he inspired where does that leave u. with a crappy unreliable book in which to base ur faith, and a shoddy god-hence the 'sweetie'- i feel for ur confused philosopy.
if men make mistakes, perhaps they were wrong when they said salvation was free, or that there even is a heaven and a hell, and that god made the world in seven days etc. do u see where im going with this
either the bible is infalliable, or your faith is worth nothing.
and if the bible is infalliable u need to accept some of the tougher issues that arise from that
and if its not, theres maybe not much point in saying ur a christian at all
anyway soz to be rude before, very unagnostic of me just got a little irritated when u LMAO at me when of corse im not so daft i think god physically wrote the bible! im not completely blonde... :)
"a lot of the bible is direct quotes from Jesus, in which case these are obviously correct".
well think about that for a second. aside from the fact its not actualy strictly true (the new testament has five books of eye witness acounts with some refs to what jesus said, hardly a bible full of quotes) there reamins the issue who recorded these quotes? MEN. so if u can dismiss parts of the bible because men might not be accurate, u can dismiss it all.
If god is all powerful and god is all loving, why is there so much suffering in the world?
If you say it's the price of freewill as many god squaders do, how does that encompass the suffering and distress caused by mudslides, earthquakes, smallpox or spina bifida? is there freewill in heaven?
Most of the suffering we see in the World is as a direct result of organised religion. Religion depends upon the oppression of the masses in order to survive. The channel 4 prog. is a joke. It paints Christians as figures of ridicule & those who are not Christian as promiscuous & gay. "Making" ppl Christians is what the colonialists did in the developing world...they destroyed indigenous religions & cultures and enslaved & murdered millions. There is not an ounce of goodness in Christianity.
There is a serious flaw in the series from the outset, the "Christians" are all skilled and experienced manipulators and the members of the public are just that members of the public, I guess it's just light entertainment and not to be taken seriously
Last week George told the fat biker bloke that it was a sin to interupt him, I think George is suffering from delusions of grandure. amongst other delusions
I only hope the interesting debates that I had with you and Wally discussing the Bible will be aired and not just the sensational bits that really have no relevance. By the looks of things anything really relevant won't be addressed!!! Laura from the show
It was an incredibly horrible Series, and I AM a Christian, he was not loving imo, thats what christians should all do!

you are very wrong if you think after 2 years of being a christian i can't handle being disagreed with.
but no, i can't convert you. i have asked myself all the questions that you are asking me, and they are not answered by becoming a christian, you learn to accept that it is through faith & not proof that we believe. faith is the first step towards becoming a christian. only then can answers start falling into place.

I dont believe in heaven and I am not fussed about being "saved" as I believe that when I die thats it... the end.
I just cant get to grips with the fact that because I dont believe I am told I have no morales or values... please explain.
Squealer01 3 years ago
Anyone who tells you you have no morals or values because you dont believe in God is speaking rubbish. i really disagree with that. christians are just as good and bad as everyone else, and we would do well to remember it.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago

Put down your fairystory Bibles & behave like decent human beings.
longdaysdying 3 years ago
and yet to condemn every christian with labels such as 'arrogance, ignorance, puritanism and bigotry' is acting like a decent human being?
Take a look at yourself and your own appalling views before condemning other people.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
i'm not condemning every christian at all, i'm condemning the hypocrisy of institutions like the Anglican church who openly denounce homosexuality & i'm condemning the general hypocrisy of christianity writ large...my views may well apall christians, but they are only seeing their own hypocrisy reflected back at them. I won't be told by priests, vicars, bishops, popes & church attendees how to conduct my life, especially when I find their own views abhorent in the extreme.
longdaysdying 3 years ago
"Modern Chrisians may not torture & murder anymore, but their arrogance, ignorance, puritanism & bigotry is alive & well."
Your post clearly puts all christians under one heading. Priests, vicars, bishops and the pope are all to do with one type of church so obviously they have the same views.
Perhaps you ought to get out and actually speak to some everyday christians, and see that everyone is different, with different views about different subjects. You would be surprised.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
Christians may well have differing views, but dogma isn't about differences of opinion. For example, divorce & Catholicism are incompatible, yet many Catholics divorce...making them either hypocrites or people who reject Catholic teaching. To pick & choose what you want to believe is hypocrisy, you either agree with a dogma that condemns homosexuality or you don't. When thousands of ppl share the same fixed view, something is rotten. I call religion moral tyranny.

Christian
adj: Professing belief in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus.
key word there being OR.
christianity isnt like other religions, because all that is required of you is belief in Jesus. There are opinions and guidelines that are considered to allow you a better way of living, but in the end, all we are asked to do is believe in God. check out john 3:16 if u want the best proof i can give you.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
Few people emulate the life Christ is said to have lived according to scripture. A life of poverty, humility & self sacrifice. I don't see much evidence to suggest that this is the model that most Christians follow. Belief in God is enough? It is our actions that define us, not our beliefs. The actions of the religious hierarchy have for hundreds of years been the actions of murderers, oppressors, tyrants & thieves. I live a blameless life, without God & without Christ. Let God judge me for that
longdaysdying 3 years ago
No one can fully imitate th life that Jesus led because we are human.
The point of him dying on the cross was so that we would be forgiven for our wrongs.
christians are normal people who try to become better & put others ahead of ourselves because we want to imitate Jesus. we can never fully succeed at that, but we can try. we do not deserve the labels that were given in your previous comments,& you can never justify labelling millions of completely different people under such crude headings.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
this is a very weak argument.
quoting the bible out of context will 'prove' anything you want it to, looking at it holistically will explain to you how you, as a christian, should be living your life.
to state you are a follower of christ on the one hand, yet to denounce the rest of the requirements set out in the bible as 'optional guidelines' on the other, is surely foolishness in the extreme.
Nayzbabe 3 years ago
i am not 'denouncing' anything.
yes, christians try to follow how the bible ( basically how Jesus) wants us to, but we do not do this in order to be 'saved', because it is by God's grace alone that we are saved. we are not special, we have done nothing to deserve anything, and God did not give conditions on his love. God's love is unconditional; amazing grace.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
"There are OPINIONS and GUIDELINES that are considered to allow you a better way of living, but in the end,all we are asked to do is believe in God".
so the supposed 'word of god' is now not law, but opinion and guideline.i would say that denounces the value of the bible somewhat.
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
ive always considered it misguided nonsense when christians say that salvation is a free gift. its a free gift that requires u to DO something; 'repent and turn from ur sins'. that becomes a little complicated when ur 'sin' is being gay,4example.so in order to marry outdated laws with modern soceity christians say 'its ok u dont have to follow all the rules salvation is free'.
i have more respect for zealots really at least they understand their own religion and follow it as it should be.
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
what it means is that by gods grace, through faith in jesus that we are saved,we have no right to get to heaven, because we are all sinners.heaven is a perfect place, why should we all get to heaven if we are not perfect. But Jesus is showing us that we can all get to heaven through him, because, because he died on the cross for us, took all our sins, and said he that beleive in me,shall be saved. And he proved is love for us for us by dieing on the cross at calvary.
welshhedgehog1 3 years ago
i understand what the concept of salvation is suppose to mean, did u actually read the comment i wrote? looks like u typed this in some sort of frenzy?
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
I can't say that certain 'rules' are the law of God, because there is a lot of controversy over the bible between christians. Since i have an open mind i would not go as far to call anything that could merely be my own or other people's opinions 'law'.
i think calling it God's 'law' gives the wrong impression as well, as it implies that if you break this law you will be punished. But God does not punish, He forgives us no matter what.
It's a hard thing to get your head around.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
ur philosophy is the hard thing 2 get my head around
r u now saying that chunks of the bible which is supposedly written by god is actually subject to the mistakes of personal opinion?in which case is god lying when he says he is the author of the bible,or is he just such a crap god that he allowed mistakes to end up in there?IF theres a god,i doubt he would waste time making laws if they were'optional',i think christians who cant cope with the ugly parts of their religion use that as a cop out
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
LMAO
God did not write the bible, never claimed to and you are the first person iv ever known to think that.. it was written by lots and lots of different people.
The bible was translated and can be taken in different ways , which is what i mean by controversy. and yes, God forgives us no matter what, all we have to do is ask Him.
I think you should do some research into things before opening your mouth. You clearly do not know enough about christianity to be commenting on it.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
oh dear
im actually debating with a semimoron it appears
sweetie, the WHOLE idea of ur religion is that god wrote the bible THROUGH MAN
i think u need to go back to church.
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
yes, through man. God did not physically write the bible. men make mistakes.
the whole idea of my 'religion' is that God loves us no matter what, we can do nothing bad enough to change that.
call me a 'semi moron', 'sweetie' whatever you want, you only increase my want to explain what God is really about.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
did i say god physically wrote the bible? erm, nine. hence the semimoron
so if god wrote the bible through men, and allowed them to make mistakes whilst translating what he inspired where does that leave u. with a crappy unreliable book in which to base ur faith, and a shoddy god-hence the 'sweetie'- i feel for ur confused philosopy.
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
if men make mistakes, perhaps they were wrong when they said salvation was free, or that there even is a heaven and a hell, and that god made the world in seven days etc. do u see where im going with this
either the bible is infalliable, or your faith is worth nothing.
and if the bible is infalliable u need to accept some of the tougher issues that arise from that
and if its not, theres maybe not much point in saying ur a christian at all
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
anyway soz to be rude before, very unagnostic of me just got a little irritated when u LMAO at me when of corse im not so daft i think god physically wrote the bible! im not completely blonde... :)
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
and im sorry that i misunderstood your saying 'God wrote the bible', i took it to mean physically.
a lot of the bible is direct quotes from Jesus, in which case these are obviously correct.
However a lot of the old testament is made up of prophets, where i believe that mistakes could arise.
I don't care whether you think i am what you think a christian is, i am far more concerned about what God thinks of me.
iamsuchahobbit 3 years ago
"a lot of the bible is direct quotes from Jesus, in which case these are obviously correct".
well think about that for a second. aside from the fact its not actualy strictly true (the new testament has five books of eye witness acounts with some refs to what jesus said, hardly a bible full of quotes) there reamins the issue who recorded these quotes? MEN. so if u can dismiss parts of the bible because men might not be accurate, u can dismiss it all.
nousvolonsbateaux 3 years ago
he forgives us no matter what
just a shame theres a place called hell then really isnt it or that would be a lovely little argument
what u believe in isnt 'nice', deal with it.

If god is all powerful and god is all loving, why is there so much suffering in the world?
If you say it's the price of freewill as many god squaders do, how does that encompass the suffering and distress caused by mudslides, earthquakes, smallpox or spina bifida? is there freewill in heaven?
EmailEunuch 3 years ago
Most of the suffering we see in the World is as a direct result of organised religion. Religion depends upon the oppression of the masses in order to survive. The channel 4 prog. is a joke. It paints Christians as figures of ridicule & those who are not Christian as promiscuous & gay. "Making" ppl Christians is what the colonialists did in the developing world...they destroyed indigenous religions & cultures and enslaved & murdered millions. There is not an ounce of goodness in Christianity.
longdaysdying 3 years ago
There is a serious flaw in the series from the outset, the "Christians" are all skilled and experienced manipulators and the members of the public are just that members of the public, I guess it's just light entertainment and not to be taken seriously
