The cool thing is the scholfield was a pretty rare gun to see in the "old west" The Smith and Wesson model 3 of course was a very popular gun and outproduced in numbers the Colt SAA well into the 20th Century. The model 3 is the frame size not a specific model, Like a S&W "N" frame or "J" frame today. There were many model 3's. The Russian, American, Scholfield and the NEW model 3. the scholfield was slightly different becasue the latch was on the frame instead of the barrel And shot the S&W 45
i got a .357 Ruger Vaquero. its stainless steel with faux ivory grips and gold inlay on the cylinder. i still think just about any long barreled form of the schofield is one of the most if not the most beautiful revolver designs ever made. they just look awesome. i gotta get one.
It's a truly remarkable gun rig. i don't know if anyone else has mentioned it, and if they have, i apologize, but those aren't roses. Believe it or not, they're flames. the rig is called the Flames of Hell, according to Will Ghormley, who made the holsters for Ben Wade Charlie Prince , Johnny Ringo from Tombstone and Brad pit when he played Jesse James. but i must say i envy you, and want that rig for myself... if i get it, i think i'll stick with the Denix Schofield in black and gold, though.
Eagle Grips make grips for your pistols. You might like their Bufflo horn grips which are black and you can order them checkered. I have some of their grips on a S and W I have.
@bigdirty59 Those were made by Uberti Now owned by Beretta also available through companies like Cimarron and such. The leather for the entire production was made by Will Ghormley, who also made the leather for "Ringo" in Tombstone, and the Jesse James (Brad Pitt) movie as well (his guns were manufactured by US Firearms and I think done up by Doug Turnbull). Ghormley makes reproductions of the movie originals. So, everything the actors used in the movie is available as they used them
Charlie Prince inspired me to track down a pair of these fine weapons right now i found a site called Uberti that sells them my question is in the movie its kind of hard to tell are his .45 schofields nickle plated or blued with a worn finish? if anyone knows please let me know. Awesome video! Amazing gear =]
@CatcherInTheFry Actually, because of the top-break design, the fed the .45 Schofield, a round weaker than the .45LC (which was used in the Single Action Army) ;) The .45 Schofield round would fit in the SAA, so when the army purchased a batch for testing in field use, .45 Schofield became temporarily the standard round for logistic reasons (once again, it would fit in both guns). However the army never adopted the No3 on a larger scale, because of the realatively weak round.
@Masonlukedeane When you have the gun in firing position, just let it fall forward and hang on your trigger finger with the barrel pointed down at the ground. Then, put a little horizontal rotational spin on the gun with a counter-clockwise flick of your wrist (assuming you're right-handed, clockwise for left-handed). The gun should rotate around your trigger finger (horizontally, barrel still pointed down), with the trigger guard acting as the hinge against your trigger finger.
Nice pistols :) like the rig too. I have one old peacemaker then a second which is similar to your barrel colour that blue finish. rig only takes one pistol so usually tuck the other in the back of the belt/trousers band. Hes spot on about reloading i can do it fairly quick but not as quick as that pistols able. why i'll favor one gun over two by the time i've reloaded both you've unloaded yours in my direction lol i may have to get that type now. anyone wanna exchange? haha
Man, those are so sweet. How much did they set you back? Did that holster come with the pistols? It looks like an exact replica of what Prince wears in the movie. I'd love to have a pair of Schofields like that, but from some of the prices I've seen listed online, I'll probably just have to settle for non-firing replicas.
I have some Federal .45 long colts that are 225 grain jacketed soft-points. They are not +P loads, just standard. Could I fire these through a schofield?
The one thing that i thought was really lame in the movie 3:10 to Yuma was when Peter Fonda was shot.....there is no way a man could live very long at all gut shot and the horse doctor surgery was a joke....but other than that the rest of the movie was great .
Charlie,,,,my favorite bad guy! Recently bought the Uberti .44 Russian with the guard extension which really helps with the balance of the gun. Personally I'd rather go around looking like Charlie Prince than a Goth with black fingernails and studs stuck in my face..........just my opinion.
Excellent video, I have two of these with the "Wells Fargo" 5" barrels and they are in .45 Colt made by Uberti. Mine are all blue and do not have the heritage case colored frames like yours. Just a suggestion, if you do hard chrome them, make sure that it is a polished prep before chrome as it makes it look just like nickel which is period correct. The hard chrome will also make the guns last longer as it reduces wear and has superior rust resistance. Show them to us when you have it done.
Very good video! Better than most of the junk you see on youtube now a days. It actually had a general point to it. I enjoyed watching it.
I, too, am looking at getting a Schofield revolver. However, I think I'm going to get the New Model Russian version from Uberti. I used to own a genuine Colt Single Action Army with a 7.5" barrel. But it didn't do it for me, and I think it was the slow reloading process. The top-break design really sings to me.
@mtsEnrique beautiful guns. i couldnt ever have 2, i wouldnt be able to pick a favorite. :P how do you find them when shooting? i heard that some early top-breaks tend to stretch at the hindge, and also gum up after 50+ shots at a range.. is this true?
AWESOME collection, i envy you, i got a couple questions though.where did you purchase the snap caps at, and how much were they? and wat was your local gun show called

i heard that schofields were so powerfull, that if you shot them too much in short amount of time, that would start to develop carpal tunne.

It seems like it would also be more sturdy than a 'standard' revolver where the cylinder is on a crane that can bend or get put out of tune.
