Just what the f___ does Ray Thomas do besides dress in stripes and hit the tambourine? If he is sick, do they cancel a show? It aint like they'd miss him!

Ray Thomas was their flutist from 1964-2003. If their was no flute solo in the song then he would just play the tambourine or the saxophone. he retired in late 2003.
