The reason that Japan is shocked is because here murders are usually normal murderers such as a man shooting a woman but in Japan the murders are more bizzare Jefferey Dahmer type murders such as Tsutomo who put a Lens cap in a six year olds Vagina after killing her and Molesting her the last time a murder has done that here was like a year back but the murders in Japan like that happen about 5 times a year.

Yakuza are basically mobsters. The American parallel would be what you can see in The Godfather.

The difference is that in Japan the Yakuza, or "Yaks" as resident foreigers sometimes call them, are more public. Their top members are publicly known, the locations of their offices are publicly known, tabloids write articles about them all the time.

Yakuza violence when it happens is generally targeted, not random like this guy or say an American-style drive-by shooting on a crowded street.
