  • this is what my grampa did in ww2

  • Well... would you belive it? HaHaHa, classic

  • instead why dont they put the jeep on a sled with a lot of padding because that is a waste if your only going to use one of thoose once.

  • imagen that u are a german trooper and u get that thing on you

  • Luftbåt!

  • Welsh Aircraft Company WACO-

I knew the "sister of WELSH - Mrs Drina Welsh Able -

She told me her brother invented the first "VULCANIZED TIRE" for the war effort -

  • The men who rode these things said that if you made it back to the ground in one piece, combat was a piece of cake.

  • i was next to one of these in a museum it was all original and some dumbass didnt heed the do not touch sign, he leaned aginst it and it gave way his arm fell through creating a hudge hole in the side that cant be repaired

  • lol

  • seems like a suicide mission to me, even a

total moron could take down such a glider with

a flak, or even with an machinegun...

I would prefer to jump with a parachute 100 %

  • parachute causes serious injury to 10% of the men each jump, glider a lot less

  • A couple of years ago I had the job of rebuilding the fuselage of one of these from a twisted steel tube frame wreck. When the wood workers hav finished with it it will be the most complete example still in existence

Google 'Assault Glider Trust' If you want to see it (They also built a horsa from scratch which I made the UC for.)

  • There is a complete one at the SF Airborne Museum in Fayettville N.C. out side of Ft. Bragg

  • noe thats pretty sweet.

  • Wow!! Old is Gold

  • Glider pilots had to have balls! Only one shot at the dead stick landing in enemy territory, often at night, and once you landed you didn't take off again you were right there in it with the troops!

Hal olbrook said the G stood for Guts, I agree these guys had to have balls of steel!

  • @DEP717 Glider pilots still have balls of steel

  • My unlce was a polit for these kind of glider. He has some awesome stories.

  • It's spelled Pilot.

  • It sure is. Oops....

  • It sure is. Oops....

  • Haha, really cool :P

  • Keep 'em coming, Bomberguy! Incidentally, if you want to see a Waco glider being "snatched" or picked up/retrieved from the gound by a C47/DC3, watch the very end of the Errol Flynn film, OBJECTIVE BURMA, when one is retrieved from the battlefield.
