This is good shit, but if you are known to do this stuff a lot it can get u in a lot of trouble. The advantage to this is that ppl aren't prepared for it when it happens
I worked all of them. The first one isn't as successful.
The second works like a charm. Askren does it a lot and i saw it in the ncaa finals last year.
Instead of that first one, it is better to do a freestyle move. When they sink in the single, drop on top of his back, grab his left ankle (if he shot on your left foot) with left hand, block his right knee or ankle with right handand turn him to your right.
I think the first one is the most successful of them all. especially if they get really deep and you can't sprawl you hit it and get into a good scramble
Thats good! I wish it would have worked for me. It works when I go back and wrestle with my old high school buddies. haha But, it has never worked in the ncaa for me... lol But, then again, you probably are doing it beter than I am if you are having success..
bubba jenkins used the first move twice to defend a shot in the 2008 final. fist time he gets the takedown, second he doesn't have the energy to base up, and he gets a stalemate. good move though.
The second one looks risky and tricky. you'd probably just get a stalemate every time, or you'd end up on your back..
The Askren video is unbelievably good. I knew he was a great wrestler, but he has thought throught funk so well and so thoroughly and teaches it great. It was a fantastic investment.
cant they refunk roll you?

can you do that one where you grab the inside leg and do a roll while they have a single on you and not just a wizard ? or is it wizard based only?

how is Ben Askren funk DVD? I hit the roll but I have trouble finishing when I try to build into him, does it teach how to finish that?

this was used along with an iranian dump to win the california state championship at 135. Not just for fishes.
Check it out:

This is great scramble technique. Watch some NCAA D1 wrestling and you will see a lot of this. NOT just against "fish" wrestlers.

very creative

not very smart though, if he hips down halfway through this hell pin the guy doing this
building7911 4 years ago
the punch throwing part does seem like the other guy would have to be reacting slow
yppers 4 years ago
yea alot of techniques are like that, look cool but they only work if your opponents a fish
building7911 4 years ago
no he wont, u can bridge out, this is a win win situation, if his hips r down, it would b a stalemate
