  • good Harrier, not fighter. It has been proven inferior to competing fighters in speed, climb, and turning. Do people really expect the f-35 to beat a su T-50 in a dog fight?

  • For replace the Harrier... its a good idea, scice versions of the F35 can fly as the harrier, plus supersonic flight and advanced avionics... but as a FIGHTERJET I wont recommended. Better option as a fighterjet for nations to buy... the New F15 Silent Eagle.

  • I think somebody miss undersoot some facts here... first of all, the F36 have not the most powerfull jet engine ever maded FOR A FIGHTERPLANE. Youd better check the specs of the engine of the F22A Raptor far surpases the F35s... Second the F35 lack of super cruise, Third the F35 is not as stealthy as the F22A or the B2 Spirit, fourth is not as fast and maneuverable as contemporany fighterjets. It does have the most advanced avionics.

  • It looks like its going to be the Fighter of The Future for quite some time...

  • This is a bad plane, too expensive and its characteristics do not meet the requirements of 5 generation VTOL technology was purchased from USSR. I'd better bought Su-35

  • @KostEnRusFed It s amazing, shut up

  • 121 Russian and Chinese..

  • russias fighter is better, faster and cheaper

  • After reading some of these comments I have to laugh its a good thing I work at LM I know better unfortunately the general public don't!

  • The Raptor is NOT grounded

  • It looks pretty damn sexy though

  • it is a wonder and great confidence that to drive a middle or heavy airplane by only a huge power engine.

  • I dont think anyone gets the purpose of large military 5th generation fighters. These aircraft will never see large scale operations and their not meant too. The world nowadays is a world of talk and threats, the F-35 is meant to intimidate and deter. in the future the U.S, China, and Europe will stare each other down in wars of words and technology, using third world nations as their testing grounds to prove whos better. thats why the f-35 exists, to be a showcase.

  • well..............the F-22 took over

  • @cstac21 Yea the Raptor is a great plane but it is grounded right now for some technical difficulties.

  • @Hollarn28 WHAT!!!!!!!!!! I thought it was awesome. I went on Airforce.com and it showed me everything about the F-22. You should check it out unless you already have.

  • @cstac21 Yea it is an awesome plane, but I have some friends at the Academy and when I was up there in November they said it was grounded. That might have changed though.

  • @Hollarn28 You have some cool friends. My dream job is to fly and pilot a F-22. And i'm only in the 8th grade.

  • @cstac21 I'm 17, hopefully a future cadet

  • @Hollarn28 Cool. if you have anymore news on jets or anything about the airforce email me.

  • @utubeifuwant (2) not to mention the electronics on this plane are superior to any other plane and will undoubtably take the first shot long before its detected. dog fighting honestly is becoming more rare because of the incredible technology on these aircraft, they can take shots from such long ranges that getting close enough to where maneuverability will even be effective is something that probably wont happen.

  • @utubeifuwant (1) well i don't know to much about radar capabilities and the different kinds but just from examining the incredible capabilities this plane is capable of, not to mention the ones still concealed from the public, i highly doubt all the engineers involved with the project overlooked those different things.

    Cont:

  • @utubeifuwant you got to think about it though, a missile is going to be a heck of a lot more maneuverable and faster then any plane. its much smarter to put more emphasis on stealth technology then maneuverability cause you have a better chance of not getting shot down. the electronics is what is going to separate this plane from anything else. the electronics makes it so it won't need to be maneuverable.

  • @jakeDUHsnake2011 ( 1) My argument is that true stealth is not, in practice, possible. Microwave transmission from a plane such as ranging and terrain following radar, communications and transponders can locate the aircraft and its direction and speed computed. Also, weather radars, capable of detecting atmospheric turbulence can be tuned to detect the turbulent wake left by any body moving thru' the atmosphere, no matter how invisible to radar it may be.

    cont:

  • @Utubeifuwant (2) Let's assume in the future, that all combat aircraft are equally invisible to radar. Where does that leave us? Back to pre radar days and engagement by line of sight? What will be the most important characteristic of a combat plane then? probably manouverabiliy. Stealth technology isn't owned by just one combatent - everyone (of importance) has it.

  • Mission Impossible: F-35C jet fighter unable to land on carriers Published: 16 January, 2012, 22:59

  • You sir, impressed me, As of today, Volkswagon4 gives you a like.

  • not stealth to the russians.

  • the cRaptors little brothers. Lockheed is turing out crap. This other guys said don't need a f-22 killer, rain is enough. Wonder how true this is for the whole family.

  • Can't climb, can't turn can't run. fighting it is like clubbing baby seals all that for cool 130 mil a pop and going up.Wow, congrats and good luck especially to the poor pilots

  • @gabamate you honestly make it crystal cleay you know nothing about jets. this can outturn and outrun almost any jet on the planet. you make no sense

  • Stephen Harper is an asshole for buying this thing, it's too damn expensive and it's really only good for ground attack, it doesn't have the power or agility if it comes down to a dogfight.

  • @MrROTD you dont know what your talking about. look at the specs and you will see this dominates in a dogfight. uneducated fuck

  • A very bad plane to buy for 125 mil.

  • @pakruy just another hater hating, typical

  • @pakruy and your suggestion to buy is?

  • @atomicfarren The Rafale, wich is the best multi-role plane in the world.

  • @pakruy it is still in development and will be much better in the near future

  • @pakruy um the plane cost abiut $50 million

  • @728harsh Unit cost F-35A: US$122 million (flyaway cost, 2011)

    F-35B: US$150M (avg. cost, 2011)

    F-35C: US$139.5M (avg. cost, 2011)

Note: Average costs excludes development cost

F-35A weapons system unit cost is US$183.5M (FY 2011)

  • Designed and built by the British (though operated by Americans) and first flown in 1965, Thunderbirds 2 is still the worlds best VTOL aircraft

  • Comment removed

  • That's because Americans are the only people crazy enough yet cool enough to fly these things.

  • @DannyFischarge you sir, are very, very wrong...

  • @acmadsen why?

  • @acmadsen Why?

  • @DannyFischarge wtf is that?

  • Russians came up with concept of stealth, German Jewish scientists began work on stealth, but the US perfected it and put it to use. It's like Russia came up with the wheel but the US came up with the car to use the wheel on

  • Will this plane be as expensive and flawed as the F22?

@macw0407 "Perfected"? Like how the F22 can't fly through rain without being detected on old Soviet radar?

  • @macw0407 I thought da Nazi guyz made that one stealth bomber made outta wood..

  • Liked the music but, this weapon is designed to kill humans only! Our, the United States, next war will probably be with the Devil himself, whom we can't kill! Pray for us.

  • the best fighter in the world

  • fasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr hover

  • this plane is somewhat stealth. Just not full stealth such as B-2 or F-117

  • This gun would pretty much beat the F-22 if its thrust vectored.

  • why is it that all of us came to see the F-35, yet all of you bitches are arguing about 187 F-22's? Yes the F-22 is probably the most advanced fighter ever built, but it costs a shit ton, which is why we are building the slightly less advanced F-35 for alot cheaper. i do not know exactly how many F-35 we plan to build, but one thing is for sure.... Noone will want to fuck with a country called The United States of America ;)

  • @str8upkill3n The U.S.A lacks the need for air superiority, for now. All air superiority fighters are the most expensive fighters. If the U.S is to go against a worthy adversary in air-to-air combat, we need to build a cheaper version of the F-22.

Anyways...the F-35 is supposed to replace the F/A-18 Hornet, A-10 Thunderbolt, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and the AV-8B Harrier.

  • @bigchiefmingingbolok the face of war will have changed beyond all recognition by then, my friend.

  • the reason why most ppl have no money any more

    fuck you militairy industrial complex

great flying brick by the way

  • All the trillions of dollars spent on the war machine in this world, when it could be spent on making the place more beautiful. But I guess that's the price to be paid when there is so much evil going on in the world.:-(

When Jesus returns, which will be soon, things will be made much saner, safer and better.

  • @guyNbluejeans Thats cute, you still believe in fairytales.

  • @LanThaKid That's cute, you're ignorant.

  • Got a question.Is it possible if all 187 F22 were to dogfight all 75,000+ WW2 Era planes,the F22 could come victorious?

  • It will blend, correct?

  • Great Job Chris! Ben Riggi, USAF '71/'75

  • Hey, look, a flying turkey!

  • Too much trust placed on stealth and performance neglected. An F-117 stealth fighter was shot down over Kosovo in 1997 when it was detected by the Russian VERA radar but no lessons seem to have been learnt.

The English Electric Lightning of the 1960's could out perform the F 35 .by miles.

  • @Utubeifuwant prove it

  • Comment removed

  • @Utubeifuwant Because they know stealth has proven itself invaluable. 1 stealth aircraft shot down in tens of thousands of hours in combat sorties? And that's just the F-117 which is first generation.. tech from the 70's, not to mention subsonic. Stuff today is much better.

  • @OlderG0ds I agree that the technology has improved but so has the detection methods. Even the USA purchased the Tesla radar responsible for tracking the F 117 so I expect they have been developing it since then.

  • The only thing I liked about this video was the Clubbed to Death song from the Matrix soundtrack.

  • The F-35 is supposed to replace the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt, and F/A-18 Hornet, and AV-8B Harrier. Supposed to be ready by at least 2016....

  • @NatedogJr that wont be happening considering how ineffective and next to useless the F-35 is, cant beat an SU-27 the very aircraft it is meant to take on if air to air combat haha american what were u thinking

  • @torque2802 SU-27 is an air superiority aircraft, while the F-35 is a multi-role aircraft.

  • @NatedogJr is air to air combat not part of its role or will it just try and turn and run away if it sees another enemy jet?

  • @torque2802 The only thing that can go up against "your" SU-27 Flanker would be the F-15 Eagle or the F-22 Raptor.

The SU-35 Flanker-E is a multirole aircraft, like the F-35.

"haha american what were u thinking" Fuck you, do you realize that tihs is not my place to say what replaces what. The governments says so, NOT ME. Now keep drinking that Vodka, bitch!

  • @NatedogJr the su-27 will never have to go up against f-22 as the f-22 is discontinued and has never and will never fly any missions. It is not cost effective. F-15 was americas last great jet. and even then the su-35 still outlcasses the F-35.

and that was meant to say "america" not "american" my bad and im not russian im british so dont make the assumption cause i dont like the american aircraft. just because u believe american propaganda doesnt mean the rest of the world does

  • @torque2802 Air superiority aircraft: a type of fighter aircraft intended to gain air superiority in a war, by entering and seizing control of enemy airspace. Air superiority fighters are designed to effectively engage enemy fighters, more than other types of aircraft. They are usually more expensive and procured in fewer numbers than multirole fighters.

  • @torque2802 A multirole combat aircraft is an aircraft designed to act in at least two different roles in combat: 1. the primary role is usually a fighter—hence, it is as often called a multirole fighter. 2. the secondary role is usually air-to-surface attack. These two roles can be named "major roles".

Sub-roles are Close Air Strikes, air interdiction, suppression of air defense, air recon, forward air control, electronic warfare.

  • @NatedogJr you have just given me a definition of multi role and air superiority fighters doesn't change the fact that the SU-27 is better in air-air combat than the F-35 which is what i said from the beginning so you saying all these definitions isn't really defending the F-35 more just a brochure for people looking to buy 1 and letting them know there should buy more

  • @torque2802 *It all depends on how trained and skilled the pilot is*. "War is fought by weaponry, but won by men!"

F-35 have AIM-120 AMRAAM, AIM-132 ASRAAM, AIM-9X Sidewinder. The F-35 can engage air targets. Also, the F-35 has stealth tech.

  • @NatedogJr you do know stealth tech was created by a russian? and stealth tech doesnt make you invisible to enemy radar just makes your radar signature smaller than your actual size. and radar takes longer to lock on so it can be shot down, the f117 nighthawk was a stealth aircraft and that was shot down by radar. R-73, R-27ER, R-27ET, RVV-AE list of A-A missiles the SU-27 carries, a counterpart to every1 of the american missiles and if i am not mistaken i believe the su-27 can carry more.

  • @torque2802 *It all depends on how trained and skilled the pilot is*. "War is fought by weaponry, but won by men!"

  • @NatedogJr tht is true but until the day that america and russia go head to head in real combat we will never know and will just agree to disagree on who we think has the better air craft

  • @torque2802 Radar stealth was not invented by Russian, when U.S. developed it many decades ago, it was top secret for like 30 years, I only know because I have military family member that was part of engineering it.

  • @weseyedwalk and russians did come up wit stealth but lik wit everything USA stole the idea and told every1 they came up with it, they did the same with their B2 bomber, based off stolen german designs, and they did the same with designs for a rocket to the moon stole that off the UK when the 2 nations were meant to trade information.

  • @torque2802 I doubt the SU-27 is even close to the F-35 even F16 can out manure the Russian SU-27 and F35 is new superior advanced replacement of F16. Sorry but although SU-27 is pretty nice and awesome plane, it cannot hang with the F35 in dog-fighting and it's dated by comparison. No offense. Russians are good engineers, I'm pretty sure they have a plane better than the SU-27 by now.

  • @weseyedwalk the SU series has constantly been developed, the su-30, su35, su47, etc have all been developed from the su-27 and all of these outclass the f-35, and if the f-35 is so amazing why is that tht when the australians who are meant to be buying the jet say it was next to useless when they tested it in a combat test against russian aircraft? still have the video i can send you the link if you want.

  • @torque2802 don't worry my friend we have something better than F22 and F35, but you won't know about for another 10 years.

  • @weseyedwalk you had better or you guys can no longer state you have aerial supremacy wit you aircraft, f-22 cant handle rain, has never flown a mission and was discontinued because the military lied about it and knew it was going to be rubbish, it was just a nice idea and a way to get americans to give the military more money

  • @torque2802

It wasn't discontinued, it CAN fly in the rain. And no, it hasn't seen any combat yet because we don't have any wars going on with enemy air power.

The Taliban lost most of their very little fixed wing aircraft in the first years of the war so we don't really have any use for it there and were not in conflict anywhere else. We're leaving Afghanistan in 2014 too so no reason there either.

And it has flown missions just hasn't seen combat.

  • @torque2802

And yes, it has been discontinued off the production line because it hit the limit of requests for 187. The reason why they took it off was NOT because of problems it was because of military spending cuts.

  • @GameReviewer1987 wow you just believe everything the american government tell u too dont u. f-22 was meant to replace the f-15 so why is the f-15 still flying in the air force? and 187 jets to replace the f-15, really? even you should know that is not enough. and they are no longer continuing production even though more thn 187 aircraft was what was ordered so i call that discontinued. and if the taliban have no more air craft, why are f-15, and f-16 still flying?

  • @GameReviewer1987 the A-10 is more than capable of providing air support to troops so why bother paying for f-15 and f-16s to keep flying send them home. what combat mission did the F-22 fly? it is an aerial supremacy fighter not ground attack, with no enemy planes why is it flying? in fact there are so many problems with it i cant be bothered to list them /watch?v=KaoYz90giTk&list=FL1xgVMbNc8p6m7k7YeWiEIw&feature=mh_lolz watch that on youtube and dont believe everything your told

  • @torque2802, the A-10 is suppose to be replaced in 2028. Nobody knows what CAS will look like. The Apache D block III ability allows the co pilot to control sensors on drones so it can engage in CAS from maximum missile distance or pass off the targets to other weapon systems such as artillery or even nearby tanks.

  • @orlock20 why is the apache, artillery, and tanks coming into this? i never said the A-10 should be replaced some idiot thought the F-22 was going to provide close air support to ground troops, had to let him no it wont be doing tht or flying any combat missions as it is the biggest military flop in american military history, even worse than vietnam, the plane is useless and the F-35 will follow suit

  • @torque2802, The A-10 was first made to take out Soviet tanks in Eastern Europe and then went on to peerform CAS missions. The air force has always hated CAS and that's why the A-10 has been on the chopping block so often and why the F-15's pitch was, "Not a pound for air to ground." The F-35 has an extremely limited abilty outside of air to air and bombing fixed targets. Without drones, the air force and navy won't be involved in CAS beyond 2028 because of the limited ability of the F-35.

  • @orlock20 so what your saying is that in about 2028 jets will be pure air to air combat vehicles and the military will hav new ways to provide precision fire support to ground troops?

  • @torque2802, Yes. It looks like drones and helicopters will be the CAS vehicles of the future. There are several major flaws with jets and CAS. The two major ones are expense and timing. A lot of the expense in Afghanistan is due to jets providing CAS. The second problem is most CAS calls are called off because the enemy left before the jets got there. The loiter time for jets is about 15 minutes. The drones now can last 4-6 hours.

  • @orlock20 someone needs to go and tell the USAF this so they stop investing money into these pointless air craft which will be redundant in 10yrs (about the same development time for your average day fighter jet)

  • @NatedogJr Beware of Russian/British propaganda! Waste of time arguing with an ignorant overly prideful nationalist anyway. The U.S. always set the standard for air superiority and we've never rested on that title.

  • great planes, but with russian air defence missiles S-400 Triumf they don't stand a chance...it actually reveals a lot about the mindset of the two powers. US invests in aggressive machines while Russia is interested in defensive systems. i wonder....

  • It's a piece of junk

  • @avro1001 The F35 is a very good plane it has some growing pains much like the Arrow, but when it come thru its was superb

  • da mieeeedo.

  • I still hate how Russian Air Force are more superior in flight with their SU-37 and SU-35's makes the JSF-35 Lightning look bad

  • @sunxiong30 Is this a professional comment ur just ur opinion ??

  • @sunxiong30 The Russians are still stuck in the WW2 days, making planes for close fights. While US planes will destroy them 150 miles before they see it

  • @Slash396 Russians and Chinese Have built some Deadly Jets.. Which Overwhelm the F35, F22...But too sure abt the F35II

  • IT AS A TWISTING ASS HOLE . HEY

  • this plane looks like a shark!

  • US and UK will be so powerful after they have these F-35 Lightning II to play with

  • Oh i love this f 35 it's better than F 22 Raptor .

  • Why is not this a multi-role combat aircraft?

  • Comment removed

  • It and the harrier are basically tanks put into a plane. I heard the harrier took down 2 MIG's just by stopping. You could land this and the harrier on a helicopter pad with ease. And you could also land it in a large clearing of trees. Can the vulture do that? Noooooooooooo......

  • How they have managed to build an aircraft capable of vertical take-off and landing and also capable of supersonic flight blows my mind! Good Video too!

  • @Capt4Edwards Except they didnt. It cant take off vertically with a payload. It can take off in a shorter distance though.

  • i love how ppl have no idea about air warfare (including me) but say things like why not keep the harrier, the f-xx is way better, just because they flew it in a game or saw it in a movie or like the way it looks. ridiculous. this is a war machine, 99.999% of the ppl here have no idea how it works and what its + and - are.

  • @zimThuet Amen to that :3

  • This is what happens when you have multiple nations working together on a joint plane, every country is going to want something specific and the plane will just be mediocre with a lot of varied specifications.

  • LEMON of the future! lmao

  • Sukhoi's are gonna eat these if it comes down to it...

  • @m0nkey1eader cite

  • why is the british gunna buy these, keep the fucking harriers!

  • @Rikiman96

    harriers are old.

  • tax dollars at waste

  • @mannie071

these are no waste (unless you consider saving lives a waste) of money. They are the most revolutionary fighters ever, by far. And are probably the last manned fighter produced. These will be cheap, compared to the unmanned fighters, that we will soon have, anyway.

  • @jimbalo56 Cheap? Have you not seen the latest figures involved with this plane? Cheap is not the word thw senate uses it was supposed to be cheap but budget blowout after budget blowout has seen the cost skyrocket!

  • we with a sheet from our vultures we can derrive your "sophysticate" plane. hahaha...

  • @SuperAmerican111 the f-35 is not an effective plane, is extremely espenssive because of the sofisticated avionic system.

And it can't take off vertically with 1000lbs of ammo, and if it can it consume a great ammount of fuel to do that.

This plane was introduced with the purpose of leech the money from the tax payers.

the maintenance of a plane that can take-off vertically is 3 times more espenssive than a regolar plane.

  • @MrElmataviejas

This coming from a person that spells regular "regolar"it's much more than just a vertical take off plane, those have been around for decades. what you don't see here is the F-35's incredible stealth capabilities. it has the same as a stealth bomber and at the same time it is the most maneuverable fighter jet there is. maybe research your shit before you talk about it.

  • @lukemwp This plane is not match for our vultures.

With a shoot of shit from our vultures we can shoot down that pigeon.

  • there goes my takes...

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not here to really contend anything, but supercruise is defined by the ability to accelerate to and maintain supersonic speeds without the use of fuel chugging afterburners, however this is mainly a feature on the F-22 Raptor and not the F-35 LightningII.The same also is true about the engine being one of the most powerful, but it's not in the F-35,it's in the F-22 Raptor, which also uses a technology known as thrust vectoring. If you don't know what that is,look it up on your computer.

  • That idiotic f-35 plane can't take off verticaly with 1000 lbs of ammo.

  • @MrElmataviejas Like your flying taco machines can do any better? bitch please...

  • The tecnology of war in the hands of zionist controlled governments is against the evolution of the human being and is a treat for the planet and the human specie.

  • @MrElmataviejas HEY YOU fucking mexican why you don't better go to your asshole country to clean it up from drug dealers instead of talking just shit here on you tube?

  • @tankerutyewuueye I don't go to my shinning and superior country because I love to fuck you!!!,,,

  • all that is shit.

  • your fight of future has a better opponent - Su-50 (PAK FA, T-50)

  • @RUSBERKUT "your fight of future has a better opponent"

Given PAK-FA's complete lack of modern avionics, it is no competition for the F-35 in ANY role. Trust me, the US is more interested in the J-20 that the PAK FA.

Our existing Superhornets have the same radar signature as the T-50 and our F-22's already know how to deal with those.

  • F35's are the same as the F22's. Junk, right ? The F22 is scrap now, isn't it ?

  • nobody seems to know that the F-35 and F-22 will not be competing for the same role the F-35 will be the new multi-role fighter to replace the F-16 and the F-22 is the new Air superiority fighter to replace the F-15.

  • @k2477456 The F-35 will replace the A-10, F-16, F/A-18, AV-8B. It will be used by the Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy. Reminds me of the F-4 Phantom on how it was used in by Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. Should be available in 2016-2018...

The Navy is also building a new carrier class, The Gerald R. Ford class. It can launch this aircraft.

  • @NatedogJr nimitz class can launch them too and i dont see this replacing the A-10 its not.. "ballsy" enough but its faster so idk

  • @k2477456 the a-10 will be replaced in the next decade, but oh well. Cool jets though..

  • @NatedogJr Unfortunately, I am not convinced that this is the right direction. I don't see what this plane does for US strategic interests or how it adds any capability to justify its expenditure. Improvements to existing fighters would meet requirements for CAS in a low threat environment just as well for a fraction of the cost. I am also worried that this plane is not well optimized for either air superiority and is ill equipped for dealing with next generation integrated air defenses.

  • @NoOne3234 "existing fighters would meet requirements"

VLO airframe design is seen as a "requirement" for future air power. Modern air defences can detect legacy aircraft at maximum range. Also, the old fighters can't just be improved. All 3 services must REPLACE them....all....now. Block 60 F-16's and Supers cost $60m +.

"ill equipped for dealing with next generation integrated air defenses"

The F-35 is the MOST equipped manned fighter ever made for air defence suppression.

  • @FXWorldBeater "existing fighters would meet requirements" Read the quote in context. If SAMs remain, it is no longer a low threat environment. Modern air defenses are really nasty and hard to dismantle.

  • @FXWorldBeater

I agree with you that legacy fighters won't do well against modern air defenses and that a VLO airframe will be important, but believe it has limitations on such a small plane. It will not prevent near-future air defense systems from locating the f-35. There are several VHF target acquisition radars on the market. These should get scattering in the resonant region and should see the f-35 very well.

  • @FXWorldBeater Once detected, the f-35 will need to rely on electronic warfare and its VLO airframe to defeat fire control radar. My opinion of the f-35 swings heavily on how well the F-35 defeats the final stages of the kill. While the f-35's EW suite is impressive, systems are much more robust than they used to be so the question remains. The F-35 seems less optimized for all aspect stealth than the f-22 and has a lumpy underside, potentially undermining its effectiveness in this role.

  • @NoOne3234 A Kopp fan I see. Kopp loves to push the whole lumpy underside line as well. The underside of the fuselage is designed to maximise its high AOA ability (53 degrees departure aoa at combat speeds, very impressive).

What Kopp didn't account for is that the F-35 as you said has a very good EW system and excellent networking. The lumpy underside of the aircraft can be turned away from threat radars by subtley banking 5-10 degrees.

  • @NoOne3234 All aspect stealth is not the realm of conventionally shaped aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35 in any case. These are used for kicking in the front door.... knowing where the enemy radar threats are and attacking them head on.

Flat, flying wings such as the x-47B or whatever comes out of the navy's ucas program will be responsible for the deep strikes.

  • @FXWorldBeater hey i am all for the f35, and i am sure it will be excellent for the next couple decades, because it is so advanced and sophisticated. however, apparently some fight in australia between JSFs and sukhois broke out, and the sukhois won. Why is this?

  • @fatty1443 "however, apparently some fight in australia between JSFs and sukhois broke out, and the sukhois won. Why is this?"

Its a fanboy story which twists and changes every time its told. There is a so called "military" analyst in Australia called Carlo Kopp from ausairpower which made up a story about Su-35's being able to beat F-35's in combat, that is all. He was only trying to get the F-35 canned for australia so the F-22 would be purchased instead.

  • @NatedogJr damn shame

  • @k2477456 ....the USN might replace the F/A 18 Super Hornets with the F-35. The Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier will replace the USS Enterprise (CVN) and the Nimitzs. Naval warfare is not like it was during WW2. Aircraft carriers, subs, and cruise missiles dominate the seas. I think the Navy want an aircraft that is used for strike and air defense. MANY HARDWARE are to come soon... to replace the other. I have some ideas, but oh well...

  • @k2477456 the A-10 will be replaced in 2028. The f-35 will replace it. The F-35 can launch JASSMS, JSOWS, Brimstones, SOMs, JAGMs missiles for a CAS mission, unile the A-10. F-35 can also use JDAMs, Laser guided bombs (Paveways), Small Diameter Bombs, and Cluster Bombs. I'd take a F-35 for a CAS than an A-10 because of its weapons, new weapons like the JASSMS.

  • @NatedogJr I don't think that will happen. More likely, A-10 CAS responsibilities will be taken by helicopter gunships(AH-64), existing fighters, and UAVs. After all, most A-10 targets don't justify a $700,000 JASSMS missile or a $200 million plane and should be taken by less capable assets.

  • @NoOne3234 The F-35 will replace the F/A 18, Harriers, F-16. The F-35 really isn't an air superiority aircraft, rather a multi-role aircraft. The F-15 (Eagle) is an air superiority aircraft and so is the F-22 (Raptor). The F-22 is supposed to replace the F-15, but it is too expensive. I also hear the stealth tech needs more work. Gunships like the Apache and Cobra can be use as CAS, but the A-10 was the 1st CAS dedicated aircraft. I can't say what is to replace what...

  • @NatedogJr Yes, it's a multi-role fighter. It has to meet both threats. (Will the USN have anything better for air to air?) In my understanding, the F-35 is built to increase survivability when faced with increasingly lethal air and surface threats. If it cannot operate in hostile air space or confront new air to air threats, it hasn't addressed the shortcomings of the legacy fighters it will replace.
