It's not an MMO. It's a Co-Op game. Think Left 4 Dead only with a story and a shit ton of content. So the host can probably set a difficulty grade like any other Co-Op game (Gears of War, Resident Evil 5, L4D, etc).

Just like any MMO, for one, you need a party, tough quest, and for one you can just bring yourself, and handle it easily.

It scales based on players. You can probably solo through the game at a feasible rate like Fallout 3 but when you get more players it changes the environment to balance out, so more mobs and tougher.

Also, please tell me where you found a PVP mode for borderlands. CO-OP means you're fighting together, not against each other

Well I guess since the game is considered a RPG and an FPS the creators call the genre an RolePlaying(co-op)Shooter. But they decided to put in the PvP ability so that players can settle there differences in an quick and...fun manner.But I do agree on it not being massive multiplayer in sense that you don't play on line with around over maybe 100+ players. But the game will be good...maybe if it doesn't crash... or make my TV blow up. But none the less the hype is high and the fans are waiting

In PVP mode there's one of two ways:

One, you melee a player and they melee back. This starts a duel.

Two, there are Arenas that are probably free for all. They haven't given out much information on this type so far.

these would only be between the 4 players in your party though.
