  • Badass. That's all!

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw

  • Bliss!

  • "Bring me a pint of booze and a John B. Stetson hat..." The hat was legal when this was recorded, but the booze was not.

  • @marykmusic Damn prohibition law.

  • pops!

  • this song is so damn cool. country mule dude don't give a fuck

  • I remember when we lost Jimmie, I was 6 years old. Great memories.

  • listen to Hobo Bill's last ride. Haunting whistle chorus conveys engine knows someone's dying.

  • if blues and country were still this good, I'd still be listening to it.

  • This is who my father named me after.....Jimmie Rodgers....

  • jimmie invented the modern blues writing format of repeating the first line of a verse

  • @otisday68 No, he didn't. And it's not a modern format. And on this song he doesn't repeat the first line.

  • Love this music. I was raised on it. My grandpa had a "record makin' machine" that made 78's. He played the banjo and my dad and aunt played guitar. When I was a kid I was fascinated by those old old records.

  • I wish he could have recorded for ten years! Especially with his strength! He had TB bad and was weak on many of his records! What a set of pipes!

  • hmmmm....not bad, but think i prefer bill munroe's version from the late 40s

  • Both of my Grandaddies could pop their initials on a Mule's behind

  • yes!

  • No notes muted here at 1:42

  • This is badass!

  • Great pick and strum guitar - loved it

  • This is the one and only version of this song that matters. I've heard so many others try to cover this song and they all pale in comparison.

  • @Rodinia79 cramps. i love jimmie too

  • JR is da fuckin bomb

  • excellent tune! thanks for posting it^^

  • C&W has its roots in the blues. Louis Armstrong played on Rodger's 'Blues Yodel #9'. Back in the day, there was no visible line dividing black and white folk music. I just love it all! And edi, yeah what a voice! Esp. considering he suffered from TB all his adult life.

  • he accidently muted a note on 1:42

  • @RankielGuitar

ya he did... the recording techniques in 1930 were defenitly not the same haha!

  • great voice

  • father of country music
