  • You've got have an extremely strong lower back in order 2 do this exercise!!! And looks easy but it really isn't.....

  • Leg raises is a fantastic exercise to get those abs working. I was amazed that the weight of my legs alone could put so much stress on my ab muscles. There is another leg raise excercise where the bench is at an angle sort of like this / . At the top of the bench there are two handles to hold and support you as you lift your legs. Doing the leg raise combined with an oblique excercise will dedvelope the stomach muscles quickly

  • I used to do these for very high reps but after a while I found out they weren't hitting my lower abs as effectively as other exercises and they stressed out my legs too much so I quit doing them.

  • Do about 200 to 500 of these and you'll see how.

    I had to keep upping the amount I did because they weren't targeting my lower abs how I wanted them to and eventually I did so many that the emphasis switched to my quads rather than my lower abs. There are much better lower ab exercises out there than this one in my opinion.

  • That's not the point... either way the legs are going to be used way too much in the movement taking the strain away from the lower abs.

    Overall, this exercise fails to target the lower abs as well as other exercises do.

  • That makes no sense. Abdominal muscles support the back during lifting by stabilizing the spine during things like squats and deadlifts. So having abs is more than just having a 6 pack to look good. If you wanna have a big anything you do core and full body mass building like squats.

  • Thats why you will never have a 6 pack!! The only way you will ever get a six pack is by setting yourself up to get there. That means strict workout regimes, strict cardio (interval training) and most importantly a strict diet!!! If you can do these things you can get a six pack!!

  • I do 7 reps of 20 normal crunches, and 10 reps of 20 lateral crunches

  • When you say reps, do u mean set?? and crunches are not going to burn any fat away at all!! they are good for toning and thats it!! to get rid of your fat really, you need to do some resistance training and do some mega cardio such as Interval Training which will seriously increase your metabolism and start to burn away that fat !!!

  • No, the only reason you sweat is to cool yourself down!! Your muscles are working which creates heat and because they are internal muscles around your major organs, you will sweat!! you will not lose fat by doing sit ups at all!! if your really want to lose fat you seriously have to do some resistance training which includes weights and machinery and also some high end cardio such as interval training, this is the only way you will lose fat!!

  • Actually, you do lose fat in your sweat while you work out. when you train, the muscles you work give of heat, which heats the fat around them, causing some of it to turn to oil which in turn leaves through your sweat. Also, by doing a high rep/set workout, you burn more calories, which your body stores as fat, as well as tone the muscles. As far as cardio goes, if you do extreme cardio wokouts, you will lose fat, but your muscles will deteriorate faster and you will have to eat more.
