yup the EBU reaches from iceland in the west as far east as quatar so obviously there are non - european countries included. in my own opinion i think it would be cool if every country that was in the ebu area would compete in one single eurovision thats over 50 countries if memory serves.anyway there was rigging in my opinion because there were countries who did poorly who deserved a better result Poland,Sweden,Andorra and Latvia from 2008 to point out some.

I am Latvian and I love this song, it just a bit of fun, It's a known fact that eurovision winners, win based on a political vote, hence russia winning with their song which was an existing song and rather glim compared to the other songs, but then again Europe depends on Russia, they do control most of the oil. Well, in my humble opinion, the best song has won the competition only twice during this millennium: in 2004 (Ukraine) and 2006 (Finland). Besides, you can't really compare 2008 to 2000 or 1999, as fewer eastern European countries participated back then.

I'm Spanish. Spain won ESC in 1968 and 1969 (in 1969, 4 countries won). That was 40 years ago. Now, Spain uses to appear near the 20th possition of the list. SHAME, because we produce good music, but the good music is not popular in our country. So, we send to ESC bad music.

For example: Chikilicuatre (2008) was only a stupid joke from a popular TV program called "Buenafuente". People wanted Chikilicuatre to go to ESC because it appeared in TV and made them laugh. That's the rule of the music business in Spain: if it appears in TV, people follows it, no matter if it's stupid. They don't look at the music, they look at the TV, while TV companies look at the money. Meanwhile, the good music is ignored.

I can't stop listening to it! It is a happy song with a pleasant rhythm. If you think about it, it's a diffult song to perform on stage because the artists have to be both singers and actors (they present themselves as pirates so they have to display it with movement as well).
