  • Just wanna say. I <3 your car. Also, your responses to the hecklers is the exact reason I like the Focus community (I haz a Red '03 SVT) . P.S. (I think they must've been wearing their V-Tec FTW t-shirts and decided, "Hey, since I can't make torque, I'll just pester a four banger who can" :).

  • maybe those are just really short gears or something but the car was going maybe 40, i can leave a patch at 40

  • ah i see where the confusion is. the point is that because the car is making so much power, i can burn out all the way to 4th gear.

    any car can burn out in 1st.

    2nd is a little tougher

    3rd requires a lot of power

    and of course to burn out in 4th requires nearly 400 flywheel hp.

    it's a pretty fun fast car. my stage 3 s4 is faster though :)

  • is a tur bo better than an intake???

    wich one boosts your acceleration and wich one boosts your top speed, or they do both

  • turbo is waaay better in all aspects except for reliability in some cases

  • I also own an SVT. The most beneficial/ low buck mods have been a Borla 3" header back cat delete exhaust, K&N intake an ECU reflash from Hypnotic Illusions (rev/ speed limiter delete) and a Steeda short throw shifter. Never dynoed, but its good for an honest 145 MPH and absolutely screams past 3,500 RPM. I also have an Eibach Pro Damper system and its frankly a piece of shit; the ride height LOOKS GREAT n handles okay, but it has settled too much and is biting the fenders during compression.

  • Hey, Chill on the bad grammer remarks. Sorry I suck at typing. I was just making a comment. So you can spin your tires through 4th gear. That's great, but when you are racing are you still going to be spinning? (better) I mean power is nothing without traction..

  • i like your reply better then your original post. i posted this because i've never owned a vehicle that could do that before . nearly 400 flywheel hp on the most current engine is surely frightening, and useless, but it's rewarding at the same time.

    i haven't launched the car very often because i get too eager and too much throttle spins the tire . so if i do race, its usually from a roll .

    i know power isn't everything, but it was my goal to see what i could do. to each is own, right?

  • There are people that had v8 swap conversion on the focus and converting the drivetrain to a rwd system. Search for zx351 videos

  • i had to go back to the original mounts because they are softer and absorbed more torque. stiffer mounts break the bolts. I have broken many bolts and i baby the car. i never drop the clutch because it's too much power and would just burn the tires away :P

  • mtx 75 is a stronger tranny. which turbo kit do u have?

  • mtx can be if it's rebuilt . the getrag is a stronger tranny .

    I don't have a kit . i built my own . it's a gt25r-450 .

    the getrag in the svt shifts great...I wish I had one in my gti vr6 turbo.(just built).

  • Thanx :) :) .. I'm on my second getrag . The first broke because my old build was super charged, we made 240 @ wheels . But that supercharger kicked in so quick that the tranny didn't like it much .

    With the turbo, i find the little bit of lag to be softer on the tranny
