Hey how do you keep sweeps clean under high gain? Is it necessary to palm mute the strings?

@Devonsasdw Yeah when your sweeping with high gain I find it necessary to mute with both hands. Picking hand I usually mute with my thumb and fretting hand wise let your hand off the note the to keep it from ringing out unnecessarily. Good luck man! :)

How do you prevent the other strings from ringing in? Do you use you palm of the right hand or your index finger of your left hand?

@SlyCooper92 the best and most effective way of stoping the string from ringing is using another technique called thumb muting. in thumb muting you use you thumb (the back part of the thumb near where it connects to the hand) and you rest that over the string so as you go up the string it will mute them. it will feel very weird at frist but the best way is to just find way that make it easier. getting a bigger pick temporarily can help too you thumb mute. good luck

@crisDAwog i think your buddy frusciante is the one who lack diversity and versatility. that's obvious at least. you can say whatever you want, but malmsteen practically invented genre of neo-classical metal and he's one of the most influential players ever. and yeah, he has a great technique and unique phrasing. but hey, he lacks diversity and plays phrygian scales which every single person on earth plays the first time they pick up the instrument.
