Childbearing should be a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license. All potential parents should be required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing.”

@marrillion1100 I am still scratching my head over those two. The Afghan ppl do not even know why the US is there. The CIA trained the Taliban. Sadaam was a bastard but take the man out like they did Bin Laden.. Iraq is in worse shape now than before and it will take years before calm overtakes the country. The US sure screwed that one up. No need for a war, ever. Now Iran, I guess I will never stop scratching.
Oh please, our dopy cops could never compare to the ministry of love. What's a ruined tent and some pepper spray compared to getting your face ripped off by hungry rats. Let's have some perspective. The big tragedy was attending this movie as a kid and thinking where are all those cool Eurythmics songs that I heard on the album.
Good movie but Netflix sucks with out of USA movies. After watching this clip I realize how horrible and dark the quality is on netflix. Great movie and song though
Just saw the film adaptation last night. Seemed to stay true to the feeling of the book quite well but there is so much information about how the Oceania government and the world works, Winston's thoughts on life and the party, and his relationship with Julia, all missing or reduced in the film version. Suppose you can't fit so much into a couple of hours though.
Radford made a criminal mistake in not using this soundtrack, the juxtaposition of modernist electro pop and images of a run-down and war weary Oceania would have gone so perfectly together.
@juankenon The original release of this film actually did use the Eurythmics' music, albeit sporadically, at the insistence of the movie studio. Most of the score composer's work was dispensed with, except for the Oceania songs like the national anthem and other Party music. Only in the DVD releases was it restored to the original, moody orchestral soundtrack. I've seen both versions and they're both great in their own way.
This video was nicely edited, well done.

This was the scariest movie I have ever seen. The US government and these days the USA police departments are perpetrating such fascist acts.

Sometimes I feel like the John Hurt character, totally out of step with the "rational thought" offered by our society.

I supposed "the worst thing in the world" waiting for me in Room 101 would be a You Tube clip that said "adding comments has been disabled". lol
Great clip here and the track "Ministry of Love" is one of my favorites! Thanks!
