@SuperCartiel Actually, yes one of the singers is Cheryl Ladd but the other specifically is Patrice Holloway sister of Motown singer Brenda Holloway who sang "Every Little Bit Hurts" . Patrice has passed away. I've never heard that they were Cissy Houston's daughters. You mean the Cissy Houston - Whitney Houston's mother?
I know im in the minority here, but I liked Josie and The pussycats better than Scooby Doo.It had great music and the sister of the group was intelligent.A rarity amongst cartoons of that time and now.
If you're a fan of Josie and the Pussycats, you'll probably like the fun and free weekly podcast, Echo Valley, which celebrates the great bubblegum music from the 1960's and 1970's! There's Josie and the Pussycats music almost every week! Give it a try!
Considering it was based off a comic book and produced by the same people as Scooby-Doo.. I doubt it. It's hard to rip off your own show. =P Similarities true, probably due to the same creators of both series. It also aired just one day less than a year after Scooby Doo first aired.
Didn't the Alexandra character start out as a student of magic alongside Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, in the comic books? She was Sabrina's evil rival, IIRC, and I believe that's how she got that streak in her hair. They crossed her over to the Josie show to have a ready-made, jealous foil to the Pussycats, altho she doesn't have any powers.
Josie and the Pussycats Long tails and and ears for hats Guitars and sharps and flats Neat, sweet, a groovy song You're invited, come along. Hurry, Hurry See ya all in Persia Or maybe France We could be India Or perchance Be with us in Bangkok Make no difference Everywhere the actions at We're involved with this or that Cone along now...
I don't understand why the hottest girl in town in all '70 cartoons is always a percussionist (drummer , tambourine). Nothing bad with it of course.
Maybe I'll start taking some lessons LOL"
Cause she likes to hit it, that's why, proof in the pudding, I had an high school sweetheart who learned to play drums cause I p!ssed her off & boy could she HIT those drums, then when we got older, she LOVE to hit it, taught this brother how to scream, oh YEAH!
this is driving me nuts have you ever tried to remember a tv show but just can't? well i'm trying to remember this tv show which i'm sure is a hanna barbera cartoon its very similar to scooby-doo all i can remember is it involved a group of mystery solving teens and a green dog with a hat who could turn invisible! someone help me out what was it called??
hanna-barbera-productions they produced the best cartoons. Cartoon network was they place to watch cartoons they should have left cartoon network the way it was the old one the classic cartoons
@neiji412 Something that a lot of people don't know, all of the Cartoon Cartoons (Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Ed Edd n' Eddy, Grim and Evil) Hanna-Barbera had a hand in producing ALL OF THEM.
And the one they chose was a comic series called "Josie". Dan DeCarlo, John Goldwater, and the rest of the Archie comics happily rewrote new material to fit their series as well as matching the new TV series.
The end result was a hit and was on reruns until 1973 when the sequel "Josie & The Pussycats In Outer Space" took over. The series went in syndication around the world.
Now, the series is available in DVD. I'm proud to have it in my collection!
Ahh...brings back memories...good ones as this was one of the fave cartoons to watch during the early '70's. They were the 2nd series to follow the SD formula: Musical Mysteries. However, every other series slowly degraded after Josie. The last of the formula, at least I think was "Jabberjaw".
H-B wanted a hit series after seeing what was happening with Filmation's "The Archie Show", so they contacted Archie Comics to do a series with one of their titles.
I always wondered that if she's such a ditz how she is capable of playing the drums. Seems like she should be playing the tambourines...more her speed.
@spiderdragon1969 Hell yeah, especially the drummer. I just told a friend of mine at work the other day, my first TV-induced boner as a kid had to be either this or seeing Debbie Harry sing for Blondie on TV in the late 70's
"Were in envolved with this and that.". is that part of the song.....
I know what you mean lot of times you hear any song no matter what it is and they say certain lines so fast and not clear you not sure what they said or it sounds like something else.
it makes you wonder how they would have really sounded with just guitar, drums and valerie banging two tambourines together. maybe like The White Stripes?
I miss seeing that show. I wasnt even 5 yet and I knew the show. as soon as we had cartoon network made and available to us in Tacoma Park, I saw it. Chances are I watched creature feature too.
I was commenting on this show to a waitress the other day and she says "This was a cartoon?" Figures, she probably only saw the movie version and was born in like 1985.
just a candy performance. The girls are so talented and this is the cake. The icing is the fact that they wear sexy costumes that they know will drive men and boys to lose it and run wild in their imaginations. One really cannot blame them for using their wits and their assets to sell show tickets and records. I hope they don't easily get offended. the live action movie was not made to mirror the cartoon. Too Bad. I was looking forward to see a professional model/actress in an authentic costume
Josie and her group was a comic before It was a toon. It came from the old "Archie comics" (The Archies), a spinoff from those guys. They tooned it in the very early 70s, around 71 or 72.
