  • Great and helpful videos, thanks a lot...

  • this is not a Clone to recover a entier HDD if it crashed, this is only a backup for files.

no info about to recover the system from these files this program create´s.

use a proper Clone program, i use Norton Ghost with Norton Ghost boot CD to recover my system after a HDD failure or software failure.

  • Dude, your video title says HOW TO CLONE, then your actual video you calling it BACK UP!. Dude is it a clone or backup? what the heck?

  • Hey gigafide, you keep saying BACK UP DATA, not sure what data this software backups. I want an exact image (copy with software, everything the way it is in my windows xp). Im going to put an identical drive (new harddrive) into my labtop. So then i want to use the clone and copy back into a new drive. Is this what this software does?

  • its not cloning and the information your telling to us is insifficient

  • Worked for me Excellent software super tutorial Thankyou!!!

  • Just to thank you for one fine tutorial i used this software and it did the job perfectly. Thankyou for this brilliant! Just one thing to mention to anyone though. When opened click on drive to drive then click text left side in blue READ MORE. Read It!

when in disc manager make sure you make your new partition Active by right clicking on the drive you have partitioned. It will still format so go quick format tick the box. This application will still format anyway..

  • good video but he didnt even talk about creating a clone and thats WHAT I WANT T0 KNOW!!!

  • This is what I want to do. Currently I have a 250GB hard drive in my laptop, and a 500GB hard drive which is not in use (I also have an enclosure to use with that)..

So I want to clone everything from my current 250GB hard drive, and stick it all in my 500GB hard drive which I can do with the enclosure I think.

Then I want to simply stick that 500GB in to my laptop so it runs like normal because all the files from the 250GB have now gone in to the 500GB. but now I have more space. Can I do that?

  • This isnt' cloning this is backup

  • dose it turn the backup into a iso image so i can burn it to a dvd and dose this work on linux through wine

  • If I want to upgrade to a Larger and farster Harddrive....will this copy all my software and EVERYTHING to New harddrive? I do not want to have to reload all my softwares again if I do not have to.

  • @lordphilip Yes it will if you follow the instructions to the rule! I can definitely vouch this software works and nothing is missing on my system its as though the old drive is still there!

  • So can I use this, put it on a different hard drive, restore the image, and ill have everything ready to use on that hard drive?

  • Hi, I'm trying to Clone my Seagate Barricuda 120gb to my new Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB HD, the first is an IDE and the second is SATA. would I be able to follow your instructions or would I have to do something special?

  • So how does this differ to the one that windows has?

  • What about coping a drive partition where the partition size space is larger than the destination drive but the used space is less than the free space on the destination. What other program would you suggest?

  • Ok will this software work for me can anyone help. I have a older compaq pc that had winxp on it I installed win7 and have used it for a year now and it is running out of space on the hard drive I would like to add a 2tb as the main drive in the pc, I want to clone the hard drive to the new hard drive and not use the old hard drive will this clone and copy my old hard drive to the new one? thanks

  • @Kholmesii just copy every file over to the new hard drive

  • what do u mean "blank space"

  • @naher1 When a hard drive is formatted blank pace is created. when you "delete" something, that data is just overwritten with blank data.

I am not sure if what I just said is entirely true, but it's what i've heard. someone correct me if I am wrong.

  • @thrash0cycle While damaging, neither formatting nor deleting destroys data by design. Formatting is merely a preparation necessary for data writing; deleting is merely a marking of data as available for overwriting. The only way to truly erase data is to write meaningless data over top of it. Otherwise, data is only destroyed incidentally as it is gradually replaced with new data. This is not a bad thing, because unnecessary wear and energy should be required to always destroy data.

  • This is not disk cloning!!!!!!

  • nice music

    where can i find it

  • i got two hard drives n i did what you said but when i go to choose what hard drive to back up there nothing what i do on this step to fix this cause i dnt see any hard drives but when i go to computer i see my new n old hard drive but i want to use my newer one n lev the other in the computer as back up

  • which one is better sysprep or this freaking driveimagexml, hm.

  • STOP. This is not CLONING. This is BACKING UP. Please amend title.

  • im so fuckin scared right now

  • @Fyeagass16 sound like will ferell

  • By cloning a hard drive as you describe, will it make an exact image of one hard drive onto another separate hard drive? I have two separate hard drives (both 150gb) I'm running XP on the first drive, and I would like to make an exact copy onto the second drive. So in the next event of a blue screen or serious virus, I can boot to the second drive. Then fix the first one, and then clone the working second drive back again onto the first drive. Will this clone a drive process allow me to do this?

  • Acronis is still better

  • it seems much more easier than i've imagined, was wastin my time with norton ghost

    thnx

  • can i put it on several disks and install (or whatever) on a sata hard drive from a ide hard drive? (w/o having a connector for a sata to a ide motherboard)..trying to get my parrents pc to have windows since the old hard drive had a virus and no recovery disk to it)

  • My hard drive lost all of it's data, including operating systems, will cloning a functional HD onto the recently erased HD allow me to use it like this never happened? Answerers beware, I'm not a computer person. Thanks in advance.

  • So... It'll still boot, right? If I put the image onto another drive I can use that second drive to run my computer (I know it sounds like a stupid question, but help)

  • This is not cloning a hard drive, this is cloning a PARTITION.

  • does this make a bootable disc so u can restore all the data to a completely blank drive cus iv got a new bigger blank drive but no installation cd so it would be great if i can make a bootable disk 2 restore all the data to a new drive

  • @DOTNSF1 If you have two cd drives, make a bart pe disk with this porgram and spread the disk immage out on the dvd's

  • hey guys i just wanna clone my os is there any way to do that cause like i want to reformat the pc but dont have the money to buy a new os and the programs i had i dont want idk but the make my computer slow so i just wanna start over can any one help

  • HELP.

I am running RAID10 on a Promise EX8300 RAID Card

I want to swap between two different images:

    = Windows XP 32bit;

    = Windows 7 64bit;

    And change between them regularly.

Any ideas which cloning software will let me do that?

FYI: I also know about and run virtuals - but I need to change my native OS.

I would be grateful to anyone who ACTUALLY knows

    Cheers

  • whew -_-

  • does this backup .sys files cuz i wanna backup my windows

  • For now he can't answer becuase he's hacked but yea good question

  • that's a good program, i use it

  • U GUYS KNOW how to format wid a recovery cd after back up???

  • I use Acronis

  • can you do internal to internal??

  • I have a question..I want to backup my hard drive then install windows 7 and load my info back on. When I open up the image will I still have the program files for the games I downloaded. Also will I have utorrent and stuff like that installed not just the setup.exe

  • i got a 1tb one and a 232gb one i want to clone the 232 one to the 1tb one and then use the 1tb one as primery

  • i prefer clonezilla but that's just me :p

  • This should be titled "Image a Hard Drive" so as not to give the false impression that this demonstration will clone one hard drive to another in one step like some software can do

  • @fullscreenahead the 4th line down it allows you to actually clone it.

  • Hi "Tinkernut"

    U are number "1"........"

I see all your videos u are on top...

and if u can help me ??? I have got 1 hard driver (external)

when i instal windows 7 i see BitLocker and i lock my hard drive.

I have the password but no recovery password 0000.0000.0000.0000....

if u can help me plase....thx

  • does this work on vista? and can you burn a back up on a cd/dvd?

  • Comment removed

  • If I want a back up of non system (containing windows) drive, why not just use Winrar to preserve all original file attributes like time and dates and unrar all on the new drive?

  • I might misunderstand your questions, but unraring everything on a blank hardrive wouldnt make your operating system bootable. There are other things like the MBR that effect that.

  • There's no operating system on the drive I want to back up. It is 250gb of pictures and documents I need to move to a new 1TB drive. Keeping the exact file date and time is extremely important to me. Winrar preserves the file info really great for what I know.

  • O well for that you can use winrar to store and move it, but it might be easier for you to just drag-and-drop it over with both hard drives connected at the same time. If you do use winrar, then make sure you split the file if needed (for instance, if your 1TB is formatted FAT32, then the rar'ed file needs to be split in parts smaller than 4GB each.

  • how do you make a external hard drive for free?

  • No way.

You can buy a normal 3.5"/2.5" hard drive and put it in an enclosure, though. Sometimes cheaper

  • If you backup your C: drive to an external drive can you restore it back to the C: drive? If so could you make a video on it?

  • thanks, great video

  • Ok Emino Meneko

Thanks for your time and advice. but what is the suggested alternate to that?

  • by using this soft ware, if source partition is FAT32 and Destination is NTFS,will there be any problems?

  • I do not recommand DriveImage XML for having tested it on a hard drive.

The result was a BSOD on next launch and impossibility to use the corrupted image file. :/

To me, it is not reliable at all. Fortunately I have backed up important files before the test and I had an Image made with another application.

  • great video, but bad title. it only shows how to make an image of an HDD not how to "clone" it to another hard drive :( this is not helpful to me

  • I did this to clone with a old maxtor 6,4 gb to the second maxtor the same harddrive space and says Could not find partion 1 but i cloned xp to that drive what do i wrong but i don't have the hdd

  • Does this work for a Mac?

  • this is the many of the thousands of reasons that macs are bad.

they only look good. thats it

  • No, they're also good for making you spend triple the money you would for a comparable PC. haha (j/k) There are advantages to both.

  • lol

  • @alexander255110 not anymore, pc's are getting some real eye candy lately like acer and asus :)

  • @alexander255110 they can dual boot with windows, dont get viruses, dont have hardware problems, and they last a long time. oh and im a pc user jus sayin

  • @alexander255110 LOL! You think we can't both back up or use a raid 1? Enjoy your PC lala land thinking Windows is the only good OS on earth.

  • Well contrary to what these retards say, there is an app called superduper. Does the same thing, except easier of course

  • after u back up your hardrive to another hardrive, can u boot your OS from the back updrive?

  • This is Great easy to use software

  • There was a video with a program that lets you make ISOs from disk. can anyone link it?

  • I have an IDE drive, will this work too?

  • HELP ME

  • plz reply!...nice vid...

but...i want to copy everything from my coputer to a new one (includeing sofware)...if i did this and then took the files onto the c drive of the new pc...would it work?

  • thanks again, next time my girl frineds pc goes down I just need to restore rather than the time consuming reinstall of everything one by one!

  • Hey? Does this give like more Memory? To save files?

  • when i cloned my hard drive my user had password

  • Thanks Bro

  • Very clearly explained.

    Cheers.

    5/5

  • Hi, If I wanted to make a backup of my C: Drive, in case i get a virus (or similar)would you recommend using Driveimage or the Backup Program that comes with Vista Home Premium? I dont care about how long it takes to make a backup, and I dont care how much it gets compressed. I want to know which gives the best quality Backups. Thanks.

  • comment below >>> help wuld b much appreciated...

  • I hav a Q., i am starting to play more games on my pc but the graphics card can't handle them, ive tried replacing the graphics card but as it is an old pc, nun of the new types fit, insted i bought a new pc and wuld like to get all of my files (music, games, software etc.) on to my new pc, if i do it this way by cloning my hard drive, will the software/files that i hav paid for stil work even though they r a copy? i hav considered moving th hrd dryv 2 th new pc but am not sure if it wil work.

  • could i but my hard drive on my usb key? 8gm

  • so this backs up a partition, not a physical drive?

if i have a dual boot system each OS on separate partition would that work?

is there any way to back up the physical drive?

  • yeah, this only backs up the partition. the best way to effectively back up a physical drive would be to set up a raid 1 system. in raid 1 you have two drives that are exactly the same size, and they mirror each other. so if you were to partition one drive, the other drive would mirror that partition and create an exact duplicate.

  • @gigafide so now i have 2 hard drives then i could delete everything on one hard drive and and still have the other to download on?.

  • how good is the compression, say a 60 GB on good compression, what would compress down too?

  • I believe the software site said it could compress up to 40% (depending on the data). So that would put it somewhere between 35-40 GB.

  • Thanks

  • gigafide is awesome!

  • n1 gigafide!

  • Great Five Stars!

  • So wait, does this mean if I were to do this- okay ot start off, I've got a 184GB hard drive in my laptop. If I clone it, I have another 184 GB of space?

  • No, this is a backup application that clones an existing HDD onto a new one.

  • not if you clone it onto an external hard drive which would make more sence

  • wow, cool. Was messing with norton ghost. It's seems much easier

  • it isn't free though.

  • cool

  • awesome video as always. thanks again

  • can you use both so you can have a bigger HD

  • thanks!!

  • Nice rice

    #9
