lol so thelastinkling you think the Federal Government should make Laws to rule over a whole nation on how we choose. Why can't local government or States do this? Then atleast everyone wouldn't be dictated as a whole and choose what state they like that fits there needs! I believe in individual rights. I believe in letting states have control and having a small federal government. But ending something that I consider to be genocide, needs to be handled nationally. Just like slavery. Allowing abortion is much closer to a dictatorship than outlawing it. It is a complete usurpation of someone's right to live (14th amendment). As a libertarian you would agree that the government should intervene only to protect rights, this is exactly what I am advocating.

If that's all that blowback means, than of course I agree with it. But most who support the blowback theory, as I've seen, have a very unrealistic understanding of idealism and propaganda. Many KGB defectors told us that was our big problem. We totally misinterpreted what the USSR felt and thought. The same with Islam...many terrorist groups were created and affected by the KGB actually. I will look up the video and do more research. Thanks for the tip.

I basically agree with that much. We have intervened a lot of places we shouldn't have, but I disagree somewhat with the blowback theory (yes, I know the CIA supports it, but I haven't trusted the CIA on foreign policy since the cold war. There were a lot of things they didn't understand). IMHO, blowback theory does not understand idealism, and it does not properly interpret propaganda. It takes it too trustfully. ..

What gives us justification to occupy another country? What gives us justification to economically manipulate other countries or remove their leadership like we did in Iran? NOTHING. I'm not really arguing with your first thesis at all. I just don't think it's the full picture. I think there are times when a CIA operation like that is warranted, and I don't know enough about the Iranian situation to give a judgement.

Your argument about the CIA doesn't make much sense to me. Just because they're hurting themselves that makes it right? The CIA has beend dead wrong about understanding the enemy even during the cold war. We were very gullible then and now.

To say that they are wrong about blowback is ridiculous. Blow back means that our actions sometimes have unintended consequences. The #1 example of this was what happened with Iran when we tried to setup a puppet government. Don't you think the iranian people have a right to be pissed off about us deposing their leadership? After all that is what caused the iran contra situation.

Look up "Iran hostage" on youtube and get a brief history of why they dislike the United States.
