I just can't get my head around WHY all those bottles were there? About how old was the age of the land? I ran into a "bottle" dump here in up-state NY on rail road tracks... Found some nice coke bottle BUT again... why were they there ya know what I mean..... We as humans I guess have been trashing the earth forever seems like! AWSOME finds... Luckily they wer saved by you guys!

maybe late throws. cool stuff, in 7 years of digging, ive just got into one precivil war dump. we gotta dig privys for the old stuff, we just dug a privy in Baltimore that had a 1740-50 context in the bottom.

yep - some really nice pre-civil war bottles were mixed in - although they did not represent the main use time for the dump

this is amazing it's hard to find anything prior to the late victorian period in most of nova scotia

USGS website - be sure to get permission wherever you go and look into local laws for detecting / digging / searching

that bottle dump was good to us for sure - we just finished filling it in - like all good things, we knew it would eventually come to an end.

i used to have a huge bottle dump behind my house. i pulled some nice bottles out of there, Listerine, Clorox, many more. i miss digging there
