i dont think its really a rip off of aeriths theme. final fantasy 6 is actualy final fantasy 3, it was only released in japan for the snes. so there is 3 games inbetween final fantasy 3 and 7 (seeing as how 6 and 3 are the same) so in my opinion its more like a song in hounor or memory or something....anyway both songs rock.

If you wanted to be proper, it is actually FF6. It was only released as FF3 here in the US because the actual 2nd & 3rd games for the NES as well as the 5th for SNES weren't originally released here. Thus they had to keep them numbered as they were released here.. so it got stuck with the number 3.

In any case, there aren't any games between this one and FF7. This song is older, came out before Aerith's theme. If anything, her theme takes elements from this song. Not vise versa. :)

This is taken from the Opera Maria and Draco which I've seen versions out there around 25 minutes long with Uematsu composing an 11 minute version for the Distant Worlds concert.

Basically he took the part he liked the most and made it into a guitar piece. It just so happens that the key and octive he did it in is the same as Aeris theme. Also the guitar part that resembles aeris' theme is actually sung in the opera, but he chose not to leave it out in the guitar version.

A "rip off" is when you take an idea or concept from something else. It is usually a negative term. I felt that Aeris song had a lot of similarities to Celes but now that I think about it the musician (Nobou) probably was being original and not trying to copy his own old work.
