  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh the memories!!!! I was Kim in my school's musical back in 1996!

  • They have awesome voices. This harmony isn't easy.

  • I'm Alice in this play so I get to sing this song and I absolutely love this song.

  • NICE-EVERYONE!

  • i need tto learn the middle harmony for my high school performance, the play itself is this week for us... :)

  • ONE BOY TO BE WITH FOREVER AND EVER :D

  • @MsSmithers13 what part...?!!?!!?!?

  • Very nicely done. Hugo is adorable

  • Best Song in this play! Beautiful triple harmony :)

  • wow she's fantastic! how old were the performers during this show? do they still do theatre?? :)

  • The actress playing Kim is awesome! Great job!

  • i have to sing this on nov.20th uh oh I hope i can hit these notes :D

  • my school is doing this im goinig to try out . wish me luck

  • AWESOME! XD

  • Was this a university performance? These actors/singers are way too good to be highschool students

  • @popinfresh high school

  • @popinfresh nope they are high school students lol

  • im not gonna lie...

    harmonies sound great

  • I've been looking for an amazing Hugo and Kim for ages, and I've finally found them! I'm playing Hugo in Bye Bye Birdie in a few weeks and I hope it turns out as awesome as this one.

  • damn!! they're are soooooo good!!!! jeez im jealous

  • the boy who makes her dizzy and faint is the boy she loves... AND YOU HEARD HER, LADY!! THAT'S ME! xD

  • I've listened to all the other high school renditions of "Bye Bye Birdie's" "One Boy."and Jess is still the best. By this time, she should be out of high school and on her way to college or Broadway. How about an update for all who enjoy her talent?

  • wow, their singing is actually pretty good :)

  • @bleach1804

Thats cause its an actual theatre performance. Theyre trained.

  • @lizcmify this isn't an actual theatre performance, its a high school

  • One Boy is one of my favorite songs from Bye Bye Birdie.

  • what's with the mikes? can't these kids sing?

  • @BernardProfitendieu it could be a really big auditorium, with really bad acoustics. just a guess.

  • I dont think chita rivera would be happy with that white girl playing her role... I mean she was the first hispanic woman to win a Kennedy Center Honors award... haha im jk... good job..... :)

  • My school decided to change this completely to "One Girl." It's the most offensive thing I've seen since my little brother's elementary school did a musical version of American History X

  • were doing this musical for our school and we actually have 3 other girls then kim lol. i was disapoointed how different the movie was compared to the play.

  • The other characters are supposed to be kind of annoying.

  • i can't wait to see who gets casted in my schools production

  • ummm. the girl in the yellow is super short and has a look of disgust on her face lol. it's actually kind funny.

  • my school is doing BYE BYE BIRDIE!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THE SONG ONE BOY YALL DID A GREAT JOB!!

  • This suits Jessica's voice much better than Mozart!

  • the other two girls are annoying, kim is fine on her own.

  • its called harmony and it sounds nice don't be rude.

  • If I remember it right I think it was Alan's first year at South when we did the show.

  • And this was his last year. Supposedly it was no coincidence. Very poetic =)

I'm in contact with him through facebook as well, haha.

  • actually no, I was not available. I was working out of town at the time. I was sorry not to make it. Have been in touch with Alan thru Face book.

  • I was Albert when GNS did this in 1983

  • wow haha. were you at alan's "surprise" retirement party?

  • this is super cute!

I think kim's acting was superb.

Also, can anyone tell me the name of the two girls singing back-up (I mean their part names) I think one is Ursula...but who is the other?

  • =)

    Alice and Nancy

  • hmm, thats weird!

today I was told is was Deborah Sue and Alice....and I hope that is right, because Im Deborah Sue!

  • Ahh you're right it is Deborah Sue! sorry haha.

  • i liked the movie i hated the play, but they did it good

  • I'm sorry, but I don;t think she should have been chosen as a lead. Her acting is not good... at all. Her singing is better, however I'm sure that there are stronger singers in the troupe.

  • Hey GWONGGG, I love it if you could give me some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on my page in a private message. Granted this was 3 years ago, I'd still like to hear your opinion.

    Thanks,

    Jess (Kim)

  • I am actually impressed with her acting. Much more like a real teenager than Ann-Margret's character in the movie. Her voice is lovely and crystal clear. And I am very hard to impress. I love the 63 film version.

  • this is actually really good. Most singers on youtube are...bad..but this is really good =)

  • wow this actually really good singing! the acting is OK...but good job on the harmonies! [=

  • singing great, acting..well..needs work. but overall very good.

  • Im in a childrens theatre thing and we are doing this play and i am the lead, Kim MacAfee, lol they did good

  • they did well*

  • ya... we actually just blocked this scene of the play in our little childrens theatre... the only funny yet okward part is tht the boy tht is Hugo is SOOOO much taller than me... and i have to poke his nose in one scene (just to be cute) and i have to kiss him on the cheeck!!! lolz

  • what theater are you doing it through?

  • i did it through a theatre called prarie playhouse!!! we all did amazing!!!

  • Kim, the lead? Do you mean in this part?

  • yes kim the lead the one that sings most of this song! ya i was the lead!

  • YESS Kim the lead! we all did amazing! and now with the same theatre im doing 101 domations and i am one of the leads in that to! I am Anita! Im very excited!

  • This is quite good.

  • Thank you for - so eloquently - allowing me to realize that my voice actually has a sexual preference, aaaaaadannayyyy. I was completely unaware!

  • 'aaaaaadannayyyy' (yes, haha, i did do exactly the same amount of letter :/ ) regardless, Jessica (?) I think you guys did a really great job in this, it sounds really nice, and resonant. really like the doo-wop sound :D

  • when i said aaadanayyy i meant to add that there was really no reason to say something like that, and regardless if you didnt like her, you could have put it a little less rude.

  • her voice is so good, she can really sing

  • I loved it, but I hate that everyone seems to lower the key!

We made our Alice hit the high As because she was the only soprano. Our Kim was a mezzo, so she did Deborah Sue's part and D.S. did the bottom.

I think it sounds better up high, but you guys did great.

  • She's absolutely amazing!!

    Great Job!!

  • amazingg

  • wow, this is really good.

    great harmonizing.

  • Comment removed

  • in this musical are there like 3 main singers like "the supremes"? coz id like to be one of them in my school play.

little shop of horrors had one.

  • No there's not. But there are 3 or 4 small trio/quartet parts.

Kim and Rosie have 3 songs each, I believe.

  • verrrrrry good acting and singing!!

  • this is so good!

  • this is absolutly amazing! great job!

  • I watched this video to get familiar with the middle part since I am singing it, and this helped alot! Thank you very much!

  • OMG is are you from BHS? It's Ashley, if you are!

  • its good.! hella good.!

    =]]

  • wow, a orchestra, nice!

  • very nice=) very hard harmoneys well done!

  • That was really good!

    I absolutely love this movie.

    =]

  • Ok.. that's your oppinion..

  • This is the best video I ever seen.

  • AMAZING HARMONIES!! These kids are fabulous!

  • i love this song sooo much!

my summer theater is doing this show this summer

and im singing this as my audition song

    luv it!

    good job

  • luv the harmony..................

  • i love the harmonies!

  • i just saw this play at my school and fell in love with it.

    YOu did a great job!!!!!

  • Im trying out for my school play which is Bybe Bye Birdie. Does Kim get to sing the beginging part in front of the blue screen like Ann Margret does in the 1965 movie version??

  • The beginning part of what?

  • the lyrics for it are "bye bye birdie. im gonna miss you so. bye bye birdie! whydcha have ta go!" etc. Ann Margret is in that yellow dress in front of the big blue screen.

  • its within the first 3:28 mins of the 1965 movie with Ann Margret

  • No, that's not written in the show version. I didn't even get to sing in the song at all - only Kim's friends sing it, not Kim :-\

    The harmonies are awesome, though.

  • i can't stop watchin this it's sooooo goood!!! :) u did an awsome job!!

  • Hello, I am doing this play and my best friend is playing the part of Kim Macafee. I have to make her watch this video, so she can get some pointers. You did quite an amazing job. Do you think having a piano would be different than having an orchestra?

  • Thank you so much :)

Well, I mean, yes, a full orchestra is different from just a piano, but that doesn't mean having only piano would sound bad.

  • I think your friend did a wonderful job. She has a very beautiful voice and so do the other two girls who are singing with her.

  • beautiful voice

  • hey! i am in the production of Bye Bye Birdie, and i play kim macafee as well...you did great!

  • ya my school did bye bye birdie last pla. i didnt get a part, i was only in the chorus, but thats ok. it wuz still really fun. and now we're doing GREASE :-) (and i did get a part this time!!!!)

  • Hi! I play Kim in a production of Bye Bye Birdie. You are by far the best I've heard this song sang by ANYONE! You are much better than either of the movies! You were AMAZING! Did I mention you were AMAZING!? LOL!

  • Thank you so much - I really appreciate that.

    We worked very hard :)

  • as benny hill would say, anybody can be the peeinist.

  • Wow, that must be nice to have an orchestra. We've been struggling just to get a pianist. :-/

  • Our orchestra is made entirely of students, so it was cheap ;-)

  • Ah yes, that's the thing. We barely have enough dedicated music students for a band, let alone an orchestra. We do the best with what we have, and our chorus has been doing great this year, so I think we'll be able to pull the show off.

Although I'm insanely jealous, I must say that you all did an amazing job. :-)

  • Haha, well thank you very much. I'm sure you show will be wonderful. Let me know if you post any videos of it :)

  • This is really awesome. Our school is doing bye bye birdie, and our director has the entire fanclub singing this song! It's really terrible cause a lot of them have trouble with the harmony. I wish we could sound like this!

  • Yeah im the Kim of our schools musical & i just wanted to tell you that you did great. [= When you hit the high A flat at the end [the three] just dont be afraid of the notes but otherwise it was absolutely fantastic! well done.

  • I'm not exactly sure what you mean by being "afraid of the notes" - I was just blending. I was instructed specifically not to overpower the other two harmonies.

But I appreciate your comment :)

  • this is amazing!! i just tried out for bye bye birdie yesterday and got kim =]

  • OMG this is so pretty

  • Hugo is a babe. ;]

  • aww, she is cute. =)

  • omg, i played cinderella in into the woods too!

  • u r really pretty! I tried out and got Deborah Sue!!! U R really talented

  • so did i

  • way good job! i just tried out for my school's production of bye bye birdie and i got the part of gloria rasputin! i hope it will be fun!

  • Ok, ero87, I know I'm not the only one who is curious about what Jess has done with her talent since leaving high school. How about an update?

  • Jess is currently a junior in high school, still showcasing her talent in school productions (most recently, she played Cinderella in our production of Into the Woods).

  • Haha, I'll take that as a compliment, tvviewer46 :)

There's actually a video posted by ero87 of his brother and me singing "No One is Alone" in Into the Woods, if you're interested.

    -Jess

  • theyre trying, but they need to sing down a fifth or so this key is too high for the girls singing harmony

  • In the Disney world, where Soprano7792 lives, all is perfect, I guess.

As real-world (I assume high-school) presentation of Bye Bye Birdie this production is one of the best I've heard... including the harmonies!

  • wow. umm....yeah, I think kim would have been a lot better off to sing this one her own...the harmony is out of tune.

and I was wondering what that thing was on the back of her head too...I'm assuming it's supposed to be a hair thing...

  • It's a fluffy blue hairclip. I didn't get to choose my costumes lol.

Those lower harmonies were very difficult to learn. I lucked out in having the melody. There have been a few notes that were a tad off due to the tight harmonies, but I wouldn't say it was generally "out of tune."

  • *may have been

  • Kim is sooooo pretty

  • ADORABLE!!! I loved it!

  • you are amazing! I love the harmonies........i am trying to get the part of Kim in my school play..i hope I do............

  • Broadway watch out. There's some budding talent coming your way.

  • aww that was cute..

no wonder nikki blonsky rocks. you're high school has an awesome drama team!

  • the best one out there. great harmony.

  • she is cute!

  • good job

  • hehe i remember some of u guys trying to sell tickets to me and my sister at Park royal. lol . GOod joB

  • that was really good!

  • gns as in great neck?

  • Yeah, great neck south high.

  • this was wonderful to watch and listen to :)

  • Great Job!!

  • oooooooooooooo...the harmony is in tune (for the most part)! do you know how rare that is??? Great job.

  • Well done.

  • I absolutely love the Harmony!!! X3 I just got cast as Alice so I'm lookin' up all the songs I'll be singing. Heh. XD

  • the actress that plays kim has a great voice- i love this song!!

  • kim was amazing, the harmony was perfect.

  • great voices and great harmony!!!! p.s. cool backdrop

  • Thanks, Ellis :)
