i have lived in shanghai for over 20 years. i know it's true. and now there are more and more people coming to shanghai. i think the traffic will not be better. i think that cars are not good choice in shanghai, but the subway(metro) is really good, 400 km for over 10 lines in shanghai though they are sometimes very crowd as well

I agree child labour is bad. But to these children, they can't afford education, and they need money. They've no choice. It's despicable to city-dwellers like us. But it's a "hopeless" situation, and a desperate choice.

It's efficient. You could take 1 minute and count all the vehicles + people passing the intersection. Then you can count the amount of vehicles + people passing a similar busy intersection in a Western country with expensive traffic lights in 1 minute. Then you realize, that Asian style a lot more vehicles + people pass per minute. And instead of wasting a lot of money(taxes) for traffic lights, in Asia people keep the money to themselves and for their family. It's common sense and smart!

The casualty rate, relative to the number of cars is not well known, but it is at least at the level of the worst Western countries, probably higher. However, chaotic as it may seem, it somehow works reasonably..
