They didn't do a Rose spinoff because they thought it would be a crossover too far, since we'd be able to know what was happening whilst the Doctor didn't.
i wish they would stop having the companions fall madly in love with the doctor because it seriously cant go anywhere the doctor never openly reciprocates rose was the closest, and he didnt really act like he loved her romantically till she was gone. i love donna for being the one that isnt putty in his hands, and martha for wising up and choosing to break the cycle, and even amy for choosing rory when the chips were down. seriously though because i feel for mickey and rory

Excellent tune. I think this one in particular is more accessible to younger viewers, with the guitar line and drums sounding less like traditional orchestral stuff. And I think that suited Rose very well. She was something new.

I think Rose should've stayed in Doctor Who until the 10th Doctor Regenerated...but that would probly be a little unfair to the other actressess who wanted to be his companion....

Plus when she was returning in series 4 this song always played when she was arround. And she came back at the--> at The end of the world!!!
I may have watched the last episode of season 2 for a million times and I still can't stop crying when I hear this song. And I don't cry because of every sad scene I watch, it's really rare. Awesome music, can't even find the words to describe. 9th Doctor and Rose was my favourites, because they're the first I've ever wathced. I LOVE the other two doctors, I'm a big fan of Donna as well but I really miss the first ones, especially Rose. :(

I just think that to Billie and David their time with Doctor Who has ended and they're ok with that. RTD did originally want a Rose spin-off after Doomsday ("Rose Tyler: Earth Defense) but decided he wanted the fans to be able to lament the Doctor's loss of Rose. My opinion is that it would've been a waste of time and money because all it would be is Rose moping about the Doctor. The replacement of this spin-off became "The Sarah Jane Adventures" which, to me, was a better idea. They started with a well established character in the Who-verse and introduced her to a whole new generation.

the reason why they probably didnt was because the actress Billie Piper did the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl. It was like just over a year from when she was done on Doctor Who till her role on Diary. the BBC knew she was leaving at the start of her last year. Guess she just was getting tired of it.
@AuroraVampireGirl I agree about the bad job with the villains in Big Bang, but remember that Moffat was also the writer of Silence in the Library, Blink, and The Empty Child. Those episodes were masterpieces.
Every time I hear bits of this song, or think of Rose Tyler, I tear up. Sure she got A Doctor in the end, but it wasn't The Doctor, and he still lost her... ="(
i remember watching this episode for the first time i couldn't stop crying rose was my favourite companian. i remember waiting the whole seiries just to hear the doctor say that he loved rose and he never did. it made me very upset
I'll miss David Tennant SOO much when I've finished with all the episodes he was in. But I'll give Matt a shot. I just hope they never get someone like Eccleston again. I DID NOT like that guy.
@bobbeta30 I think Eccleston was a lot like the old series Doctors: Harsh and rash. But he did a good job bringing the series back to life, and the fact that Rose came in and made him better made for a good storyline. (:

moffat as the head writer just doesn't do it for me, the daleks turned into the power rangers and the cybermen came back no explanation given. The 2nd big bang was just horrible.
I think they're making the Doctor younger and younger so he can be better looking therefor more commercial (tho I think David is the most handsome Doctor xD) I just happen to think it's wrong cause a kid with 20 years old doesnt reflect the responsable image of the Doctor character... Being a Time Lord is a huge deal for a 20 year old looking guy... just doesnt fits right... But Im still getting used to it...

@TheDianaJC I thought the same when I first saw Matt Smith, but in the very last episode I really understood why they choose him. When he was sitting by Amy's bed you could see the old man in him. You could see the first Doctor. He looked ancient and weary and so sad. In my opinion he has really managed to incorporate bits off all of the past Doctors and really come across as an old soul, while being someone new. Even if the BBC has some marketing ploy behind it, Matt Smith is still great.

I find myself making Matt Smith fans out of many people. They do not seem to remember their apprehension when Tennant took the role, nor their irritation with Eccleston (my dad was pining for Tom Baker most of the first series!). But you sort of have to trust many of the people in charge. They were the ones that grew up with the classic show and really want to stay true to it.

@hayaterza I don't think that he has forgotten them. He was REALLY hurt when he lost both of them, and it's almost like an open wound. He doesn't want to put himself in that sort of situation again, but he realized in Waters of Mars that he CANNOT be alone. He needs grounding. Which is why he has Amy and why exactly why he let Rory come along.
i miss Rose even though she does come back in Partners in Crime and Journeys end and Doctor justs lets her go again i hate Doctor 4 doing that but not enough 2 stop watching it. I'm always going to miss Billie and David together on the show. They were just so great together. Loved Catherine Tate as well. Freema... well, she's my least favorite of the three, but she had some pretty good moments.

@EvanescenceNParamore Well, that's what's always happened to the Doctor's companions. They've come, they've gone, they've moved on. The new series has placed them in more romantic or personal roles for the doctor, but it's always been this way.

Has to be the best themes from the whole of DW, The new series can't compare, it has failed to hit the mark. The theme is not as good as series 4, Matt hasn't grabbed me in the way David did and although Billy is the best companion, David was able to make the best of the others. DW will never be the same with out him.
@beemer1200s I agree that the new Who doesn't have any music that has stuck with me yet. I like it though. The episodes are more solid but less epic. they need better music.

personally, -my- doctor was Jon Pertwee. closely followed by Tom Baker. David Tennant was fantastic. really really fantastic. but lets not forget Christopher Eccleston. who managed to pull off a darker more subdued time lord while still being a joy to watch. the rest were good, but those four are my favourites.
@raddxrika the new guy matt smith is annoying as is his Companion Amy (i dont care who flames me) but donna wasnt all that great either she was more litke a comic relief. Now Rose oh how i miss her... she has a good life now with the 10th/human doctor. u will be miss Rose Tyler :bows:

I think this music makes the scene so much sadder, whereas if they used sad music with violins and stuff it would seem really cheesy.

Every time I hear bits of this song, or think of Rose Tyler, I tear up. Sure she got A Doctor in the end, but it wasn't The Doctor, and he still lost her... ="(

i remember watching this episode for the first time i couldn't stop crying rose was my favourite companian. i remember waiting the whole seiries just to hear the doctor say that he loved rose and he never did. it made me very upset

I'll miss David Tennant SOO much when I've finished with all the episodes he was in. But I'll give Matt a shot. I just hope they never get someone like Eccleston again. I DID NOT like that guy.

@bobbeta30 I think Eccleston was a lot like the old series Doctors: Harsh and rash. But he did a good job bringing the series back to life, and the fact that Rose came in and made him better made for a good storyline. (:

moffat as the head writer just doesn't do it for me, the daleks turned into the power rangers and the cybermen came back no explanation given. The 2nd big bang was just horrible.

I think they're making the Doctor younger and younger so he can be better looking therefor more commercial (tho I think David is the most handsome Doctor xD) I just happen to think it's wrong cause a kid with 20 years old doesnt reflect the responsable image of the Doctor character... Being a Time Lord is a huge deal for a 20 year old looking guy... just doesnt fits right... But Im still getting used to it...
PS: I Loved Donna she was special! She was awesome already missing her too

@TheDianaJC I thought the same when I first saw Matt Smith, but in the very last episode I really understood why they choose him. When he was sitting by Amy's bed you could see the old man in him. You could see the first Doctor. He looked ancient and weary and so sad. In my opinion he has really managed to incorporate bits off all of the past Doctors and really come across as an old soul, while being someone new. Even if the BBC has some marketing ploy behind it, Matt Smith is still great.

@TheDianaJC I hope you do ^_^ In my opinion Matt Smith really became great in Vincent and the Doctor. I honestly cried.
I find myself making Matt Smith fans out of many people. They do not seem to remember their apprehension when Tennant took the role, nor their irritation with Eccleston (my dad was pining for Tom Baker most of the first series!). But you sort of have to trust many of the people in charge. They were the ones that grew up with the classic show and really want to stay true to it.

"This is a war against time itself and I'm gonna win!" He scarry me in "the water of mars", so I made my judgement again, I watch the season five again and Matt made such a nice Doctor, but it's looks like he forget the other: Rose, Donna...

@hayaterza I don't think that he has forgotten them. He was REALLY hurt when he lost both of them, and it's almost like an open wound. He doesn't want to put himself in that sort of situation again, but he realized in Waters of Mars that he CANNOT be alone. He needs grounding. Which is why he has Amy and why exactly why he let Rory come along.

I'm always going to miss Billie and David together on the show. They were just so great together. Loved Catherine Tate as well. Freema... well, she's my least favorite of the three, but she had some pretty good moments.
And I know it's pathetic, but even listening to this song can bring me to tears. That damn ending was just so...gah! -shuffles off to go pretend I'm not completely pathetic-

@EvanescenceNParamore Well, that's what's always happened to the Doctor's companions. They've come, they've gone, they've moved on. The new series has placed them in more romantic or personal roles for the doctor, but it's always been this way.

I LOVE this song, it always makes me cry at the end when they get sepparated T.T Rose is still my fave...though Amy is starting to grow on me, and this ep today was AMAZING I loved it!!! Made me cry and laugh, which I haven't done on an eo in a while :)

Has to be the best themes from the whole of DW, The new series can't compare, it has failed to hit the mark. The theme is not as good as series 4, Matt hasn't grabbed me in the way David did and although Billy is the best companion, David was able to make the best of the others. DW will never be the same with out him.

personally, -my- doctor was Jon Pertwee. closely followed by Tom Baker. David Tennant was fantastic. really really fantastic. but lets not forget Christopher Eccleston. who managed to pull off a darker more subdued time lord while still being a joy to watch. the rest were good, but those four are my favourites.

@raddxrika the new guy matt smith is annoying as is his Companion Amy (i dont care who flames me) but donna wasnt all that great either she was more litke a comic relief. Now Rose oh how i miss her... she has a good life now with the 10th/human doctor. u will be miss Rose Tyler :bows:
