So?? I assume you are talking about Macklin. Withdrawing his British license doesn't rewrite history. Doesn't change the fact that he was British Champion, was raised in England and learnt how to box in England, or the fact he speaks with an English accent. Once again, not that ANY of this matters. Whether he says he's Irish or British or Neptunian, whether he has a British boxing licence or a Commercial Pilot Licence, won't make him any better at boxing.
@iorekby which is why jamie moore held the irish title and matthew macklin goes into fights waving the tricolor before him, wearing green shorts and blasting rocky road to dublin. You might want to check out his recent interview for the paddy's day fight. He wants everybody to know he's irish, fights for ireland, and his blood is, according to him, very very green. He will fight martinez representing tipperary, not birmingham.
@DanIrish409 Macklin has Irish roots for sure, but he learnt to box in England in an English club. It's only fair to say he is English as well as Irish (again, not that that makes any difference). Jamie Moore also held the British title too, as did Macklin. Additionally, Macklin could say he is representing Jupiter in the boxing ring, it wouldn't make him a better or worse boxer. I think Martinez will have too much for him, but we will wait and see.
@DanIrish409 Matthew Macklin, born Birmingham, England. Learnt to box Small Heath Boxing Club, located in Birmingham England. Jamie Moore, born Salford, England. Learnt to box in Manchester, England. They are first and foremost English boxers IMO. It doesn't matter to me where they are from though, but facts are facts and if it's only fair to say these guys are first and foremost Englishmen.
