After listening to this song a couple of times, my thoughts went to it being about the Blessed Virgin as well and I had been trying to find out who Matt meant it to be about. It could very easily be about both. The first time I heard 'My Only Love" was at one of his live shows and he talked about how he wrote it one night when he was worrying about his vocation. Then he played it again but this time to imagine that it was from the perspective of the Lord talking about us, his Church.
