I found myself gaining much faster speeds up at the top of the track. It was my first time on track and at Daytona as well and plan on coming back! according to Nate the s1000RR is the best bike he has ever ridden!
Hey there! I agree with you. I didn't start using the dotted line 3 feet from the banking wall until Chris Ulrich showed me the fast way around, and it was indeed much faster as well as slightly less bumpy. He then showed me an ultra fast lap and after the west horseshoe he started spinning the rear tire at the apex of the left all the way up the banking just 3 feet off the wall - it was the most incredible thing I have ever seen on a track!
I was the solid gray sv1000 you jet past at 5:39. My first time sitting on the bike was driving it out to the grid. 3rd session felt great, the first horseshoe was brutal! How about the pro's looking back at you at 160 on the banks tapping their tails telling you to follow, kinda unreal!
The other part of the Chris Ulrich story was that when he came around me to show me the fast way around the track, he did so while wheelying by me coming out of the west horseshoe on the inside, while I still had my knee down - the 2nd most incredible thing I have ever seen on a track! Those pro's are just plain sick!
I WAS using the clutch, just not very well :) I needed to adjust my lever as the travel is much more than the engagement point. The MV transmission is butter smooth, but because it costs so much I don't like to do clutchless shifts even though it does those perfectly.
Thanks Russ! See, you need to pre-order that S1000RR after all, he he. After watching Nate Kern rail around Daytona on the prototype, I'm seriously itching to get one!
It was a track riding school, so for many of the riders it was their first time at the track. Also, it is Daytona! It is a very intimidating track. The G-forces on the banking at 150+ are incredible and is is very bumpy. It is unlike any track you have ever ridden.
Hey Man! Wasn't that some serious fun? I wish they had more open track days at Daytona. Sorry we didn't get to connect. With the school and track schedule it was hard to get to meet people unless you were pitted right next to them. I'll be there again for sure, hope to see you there!
