Good sailplan & teamwork gets the job done. Great vid. {From aboard the 48' cutter-rigged sloop Mariane, home port Vienna Austria, now in Mazatlan, Mexico -- Pacific Islands next stop.}
Two or three reefs and a well furled jib? Looks like fun (although it's a fine line at that end between fun and "oh God make it stop" - espcially with the waves on your Star quater. Great video - thanks for posting - I'm hugely envious :) Best I've done is a few Channel runs, and a trip to St Kilda.
hey mcarreras great video, wouldn't worry about justiving your self to ZeDo.. don't see his vid up here.. all blaka-blaka.. sure he'd shit his pants in 30 ft swells... the Island looks like a great reward to a hard voyage
You know, people bragging about the severe storms that they were in, usually haven´t experienced one real storm. Someone who actually has been in one, has enormous respect of the weather and does not need to tell all the world about it. Just let mcarreras2000 show his/her video - there are people out there enjoying it.
I really didn't mean to brag about. I must confess I was a litle surprised to see this was considered "heavy weather", because one can see the wind is high but the waves are not so deep. And if the course was more against the wind, they would have suffered a lot more!
You are right ZedoColmeal... The weather can get much heavier than that, thankfully it didn't turn much worse that day. All the same it was quiet bumpy... we were sailing against the current, and of course I could only grab my camera on the calmer moments during the 10+ hour crossing. I'm thinking of changing the title to a more realistic and less catchier: Sailing in "not so heavy" weather. Golfo de Penas. :)
Awesome video!

How do you get to Golfo de Penas?
What`s the nearest point where you can stay safe and plan a trip to that region?
thanks

We started the trip in Puerto Montt (Marina de Oxxian). Good starting point.

You are quite right!
It's really nice to see it going so fast.

Haa, but I am used to warmer seas... Brrrr.
