i saw here do don q in sweden when i was in ballet school over there and she guested royal swedish ballet and her fouettes in the end were amazing. she just went like a steam train :) brava!!!

Nino is so strong and dynamic. After 32 fouettes, she circumnavigates the stage on her final pique tour. This is the full version of Don Quixote and most ballerinas are only capable of of a diagonal across the stage by this late in the show. Nino is still fresh, she could go on, what a woman. Bravo Nino.

Maria Alexandrova gets my vote. Her technique is strong and she travels very little. Nina's ability is comparable and I especially like the enthusiasm Nina brings to the stage. She has a Vishneva quality and I enjoy all of her performances.

In my opinion, fouettés need strenght, technique, control and coordination.

You can see Maximova (RIP) or Tamara Rojo, both short and great fouettes, but also others who are taller like Makhalina also did beautiful and very speedy fouettes...

I'm not an expert but judging from Nina Ananiashvili the theory you refer to is incorrect. I met Nina after a performance of don Q., she is no more than 5.4 inches, and I think her fouttes are fantastic!  Magnolia

When today my dad watched this video, he remembered Vakhtang Chabukiani a legendary dancer indeed who used to do this part. It is a pity there are no videos memorising him :(
