  • Sorry pal but when you put a video on to show how to prep fiber and it is wrong in so many aspects you are the dumbass. Owning a business does not mean you know what your are doing in fiber. This is horrible and you should be ashamed that people can see you failing so hard. If you have fiber splicers working for you please show them this video and watch there reactions. Also 300k a year in a communications industry would also be a fail, you should be making 300k in a month. Nice try. Go back to

  • @grabsalgodon I dont work in communications any more I work in SEO. Its a totally different industry. 300K a year is what I pay myself in take home. The rest I reinvest in the company.. thats how you grow a company dude. Once again its a video I made for a chick 3-4 years ago. I am not even remotely embarrassed. Sorry you take the internet so seriously bro.

  • @grabsalgodon this video was made 3 years ago for my girlfriend to show her some of what I did at my job. I wasnt a fiber tech I was a network admin who sometimes did fiber in the course of my job. Congrats for being a super special splicer dude. I now run my own company and make about 300k a year.. but hey you can splice fiber faster than I can and felt necessary to tell me over the interwebs. Congrats dumbass.

  • Ok I don't mean to be an ass but....

I have only been splicing for two months now. First off this must be a fiber to the home (FTTH) location that you are working on. I can pretty much guarantee you are a in-house tech. It's not armored cable. You really need to know you terminology before you try to teach someone this. I saw you prepping all wrong, there is a faster way of doing this. The buffer tubes can be cut and pulled off at any length. I prep six and eight feet at a time. And multiple bu

  • @grabsalgodon Haha you fail

  • I like how he is all apathetic

  • Fusion splicing looks easy.

  • What brand of equipment do you use?

  • Wow what would happen to him in MN where I live. Try splicing a Charles at -5 with a crappy sunflower heater and a tend that you need 4 guys to hold it down now thats fun. stripper thingy is a set of millers , plastic coating is clading . Nice tip for you get in the habit of closing the door when nothings going on in the machine dust is a pain . Ill be showing this video to some people haha I have 4 splicers in my family.

  • Find a new job, this one isn't working for you...

  • Have to agree with hexik, this guy is no fiber technician.

  • Worst fiber optic technician...

  • thats nice weather conditions. try doing it 22 degrees out with 20 mph wind in a tent.

  • Please use a HD cam next time :P

  • Man, I like what you are doing. Even if there are shortcuts, people shouldn't do it that way. The industry standard is just a thing that everyone should follow. If some people do not have patience, this job is not for them, in any sense. Cause patience and passion for what you are doing is perfection and with it comes the durability. I apologize if I did some mistakes in writing this comment. I'm still learning English ;). Keep the great job.

  • the best explanatory video...helped me a lot to clear my concepts....

  • I appreciate the videos.. I've been waiting for a breakdown like that. Im in school learning how to connect connectors..Thanks..

  • nice and informative video! these are single mode fibers right, any different method for multimode cables?

  • great video i learn a lot bro..

  • hi, i argue with my work mate who prefers medi swabs, whereas i like using a dispenser bottle with gauze pads( sick of ripping the medi wipe packets every 5 mins or so). I suppose its ok for a small fiber count cable but when you're doing 312f cables , its gets annoying ..lol

  • Very very informative, and cool video! Thank you sir!

  • lol i cut the tube 1.5 m from the top and pull it out from the fibres, you can not snap the fibre thatway.

for cleaning i recommend: Valvoline brake cleaner spray ;)

how much time does it take for you to fuse 72 fibres?

  • You may be able to pull 1.5m off at a time but with the thick gel we had in our tubes it was just not practical. The way I showed is the industry standard way of doing it. I'm sure there are many shortcuts.

  • @dimorphios

every outdoor cable has a gel in their tubes, as i know...? try it, cut it 1 m from the top and pull it out, it should go.

  • please write them subtitles to your videos so that what we are too slow to understand what we say I do not speak very well and I can hardly understand you inlges thanks for sharing your knowledge with us and after subirtus Mitire videos grasias by your knowledge with all world from Nicaragua

  • @siwof Brake spray? Are you kidding me.....that stuff is toxic and will eat through!

  • @cazadorez its not that bad, it won`t eat anything but gel .

  • @siwof ,khnnhnn hn n n jmn jmnm jnjm m jmn jmnjnj njhjhnnhjnjnnjhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnjnnnnnnn

  • just the fuseing should not take more than 90 minutes in my opinion

  • Dude that's a really good video right there, very professional and you showed the right way to do it, i give you a 10.

    Congrats my friend.

  • Yeah the blue cable seems to have 6 cores & the orange has 12 cores.

  • nope both tubes had 12 cores each. You can order up to 24 cores per tube before you get into ribbon fiber which is a whole other animal.

  • Ok XD i see you were obviously doing singlemode yeah?

  • We only use the alcohol.. :p

  • Thanks for sharing! That was great. I didn't know the fiber was that rugged. I thought you had to be more delicate. Great training vid. What state are you in?

  • great video and informative. curious, where was this video taking?

  • Place called lost lake resort in Lacey, wa

  • hey man i have been looking for jobs as a tech but can not find in my area,, i just repaired TFOCAS 1AND 2 (military grade)fiber,, any tips on what companys hire repair tech other than verizon??

  • Got any jobs

  • Awesome video! You made that look really easy! So what happens if it's rainy or windy?

  • we actually have a small fiber slicing tent for such occasions. It big enough to fit the tool table and a chair in it. The sell these for about 400 dollars the are pop-up style and take only about 40 seconds to get set into place. If you'd like I can look up the brand that we use and link you to it.

  • Haha.. No but thanks! Very interesting Profession though. Do companies offer on the job training or is this something that you usually have to take classes for? Maybe I'll try do some fiber in my house first and see its something I enjoy. Nice video though!

  • So what happens if it's rainy or windy?

I always work in special vehicle

  • We had a fiber tent for that sort of thing

  • cool vid!
