  • Anyone who think the big lick looks impressive must think people on crutches are really attractive.

  • I LOVE the Big Lick I think it's magnificent display or power beauty and awesomeness.... You all are just jealous that your horses are sorry that they CAN'T do what these athletes are doing!! Not every horse can do the Big Lick and it makes those who can and do it well worth Hundreds of Thousands to over a Million dollars! How much can you sell your back yard pleasure horse for? maybe $5,000 HA! THE PEOPLE that go PAY MONEY to go to the shows WANT TO SEE THE BIG LICK, hundreds of thousands!

  • WE ALL KNOW THE OFFICALS USDA INCLUEDED ARE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR -- IF NOT, WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE ME HAVE TO GATHER THE EVIDENCE AND SHOVE IT IN THE USDA'S FACE TO MAKE THEM DO THEIR JOB--- YES IT IS CRIMINAL- OUT OF THIS GROUP OF HORSES HOW MANY DO YOU THINK ARE LAME NOW? I BET YOU MY DIME TO YOUR DOLLAR THE ANSWER IS ALL OF THEM .. SO SAD AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 5 ...... SORING IS A CANCER IN THE TWH COMMUNITY THAT MANY IGNORE... CAMERAS ARE GREAT - FILM MAKES USDA DO THEIR JOB-NOTHING LESS.

  • Discusting that in this age, this has to go on. These horses dont need enhancements, they are more beautiful without. Criminal.

  • I really hate the big lick

  • I show flat shod walking horses, simply because the upkeep is not as intensive and expensive. Every breed of horse has issues with their show horses being exaggerated. How many race horses have we watched break legs? Or jumpers take spills over weird obstacles? Walking horse foals are born with this gait, you can't take a quarter type and pad him up and expect him to walk. wont happen. Are some sore? Maybe, but there are safeguards in place to keep the field level as possible. WALK ON!!

  • yes, It show cases the world most abused tennessee walking horse. the humane society has named this show the cruelest horse show on earth. These padded horses endure a life of torture. By allowing this video you are allowing these people to advertise these poor animals.

  • for more information you can visit the United States Humane Society Web site and view a video called the cruelest horse show on earth. There was over 400 horse protection act violations at the 2009 Celebration

  • Introducing the Cruelest horse show on earth where shelbyville Tennessee show cases some of the most world famous Horse protection act violators.

  • I love this horse :) Keep watching this video :) Own his full sister, his daughter and have another baby by him coming out of our good RWC producing Skywatch mare. Did I mention that I love him? ;)

  • I love the crazy lady in the background screaming "boooo". Classy.

  • Yeah. Don't you love it when people are more of sore losers than the horses and their owners? So your "fave" didn't win, tough luck. Don't take away from the winner's once in a lifetime experience.

  • I love this horse. We're anticipating a baby by him due in Sep. out of our Generator mare :)) I'm excited!

  • This gait is not unatural or cruel in any way, these horses have this gait bred into them, you can see young foals performing the famous run-walk alongside there mothers at only a few weeks old... continued below.....

  • Umm yeah it is when you put those horrible shoes on them to make them do that! I have a tennessee walking horse & he continues to have problems with his feet because that was done to him when he was younger!!!

  • If your horse has foot problems it is YOUR fault and not that he was on pads when younger.

  • Uh NO, Idoit! His hoof was cracked because of what was done to him & now even when the crack grows out it still recracks constantly!!! & I have had many many Blacksmiths look at him! & they all say the same thing!!! What kind of a moron are you?!?!?! How in the world could it be my fault because he has hoof problems?!?!

  • Hey Moron. I have been shoeing horses for over 30 years. Your horse has a quarter crack. if the hoof keeps cracking it is because. 1. You are shoeing him wrong and stressing that area of the hoof, or 2. You aren't giving him the nutrients he needs for strong hoof walls.

Cracked hooves happen in ALL breeds and all manners of shoeing.

Educate yourself. idiots like you are the ones who own horses and neglect them out of ignorance.

  • Are you kidding me!!! No DUH! it's a quarter crack!!! You don't know me or my horse! AND you haven't even seen his feet... Mister 30 years of Shoeing! The crack comes from up inside of the hoof!!! Yeah no shit sherlock, that cracks happen to horses all the time! I'm just saying that the crack originated from what was done to him when he was younger!!! I in no way shape or form neglect my horses!!! You are probably one of the many MORONS that do things like that to horses! & God knows why...

  • Quarter cracks are caused by inadequate nutrients and minerals in the horses diet.

Something done to a horse years ago would not cause a quarter crack on the OUTSIDE of the hoof. Quarter cracks do not originate from INSIDE the hoof. Good grief. Your an idiot.

Feel free to accuse me of doing something illegal. More than one person on here has made that allegation against a TWH owner and taken to court for slander. Got a good lawyer? You may need to get one if yo cant control your mouth

  • Dude you really need to get a life...If you really find the need to argue with & threaten someone, you don't even know! This is YOUTUBE! If you don't like what I have to say, then don't read what I write!!!! And why would I need to "control my mouth"??? It's called "freedom of speech" Moron!

  • Hi I had a horse with "soft feet'. I put her on a biotin supplement and ShoGlo (vitamin). It helped her feet and reduced the number of colds she got in the winter. I also dont know if this is a good idea but could your farrier put a small metal strip around her hoof and screw it in with SHALLOW screws or epoxy to provide extra support? This would only work if the crack is on the outside of the hoof to prevent interfering.

I would keep her trimmed short & roll her toes to reduce hoof stress.

  • same with other breeds. and i hate the way the look b/c they are ugly and they dont look natrual. if they took off the shoes and if the rider didnt ride like that and bought nice show clothes then i would like them more.

  • then watch some light shod vids! just type in light shod.

  • I know this horse he was 100% sound the night he won, So was ElNino this year, you can pick up their feet and guess what, you'll see all their hair, and absolutely no scars/callouses, these horses are USDA inspected and certified SOUND when they go into the show ring.

  • i still dont like this bred because it doesnt look natural at all. im not a huge fan of saddlebreds but they look more natural than the walking horse.(just my opinion)

  • You don't like TWH's because you don't like the way they look when they move. For WALKING horses WALKING at high rate of speed is natural and is the way they should move. TWHs are not supposed to trot. Even lite/flat shod TWHs move in this exact same way, it's normal for this breed, thus the name Tennessee WALKING Horses.

  • And your ignorance proves your opinion is biased and wrought from ignorance and being uneducated about this breed.

  • you could train them to do that.

  • LOL @ train them. Go watch newborn WalkingHorse Colts out in the field they're doing this exact gate. The FlatWalk and RunningWalk, are a exaggerative locomotions similar to the rack of the American Saddle bred. The main point's of difference between the two breeds is that the Walking horse reaches out with it's front legs instead of folding them high like a saddle bred, Another key difference is that at the same time the front legs are moving the head is shaking at perfect timing with the legs.

  • The final & greatest difference is the BackEnd, it should come upto the planted FrontFoot in timing with the parallel frontfoot in a 4 beat gate, this striding movement gives the TWH it's gliding and smooth ride because of the longer steps of the back feet, The TWH has been bred for this motion for 50 years, and with every generation the horses become more and more talented on their own. The Gate has been bred since the first of 1900 with Allen F-1(black Allen) being the foundation of the breed.

  • who ever thinks it's cruel. well it's not. some people can be cruel but not the people i know so dont go off saying that if you dont know them. so your cruel to your horse hahaha!

  • this is so wrong to do to a horse...u dont see a horse in its pasture doing that!!! i dont really care for saddlebreds but they actually have a natural high stepping gait, most of them...this is the only breed of horse that doenst have a natrual gait :C so sad...CREUL!!! thats all i have to say

  • if they all do this gate, then wouldn't it be safe to say it's natural for them?

  • I sure wish I was there. What an amazing night...LOVE THOSE WALKERS...

  • CRUEL!

  • Here we go again with the poor horse crud. I hope you all ride and train these horses to have some credit to back up those horrid accusations. I come from the Saddlebred world and dabble in the TWH industry on occasion. I have yet to see these horses get injured and hurt. True, there might be some cruel trainers out there who still sore horses feet, but in most show today it is FORBIBBEN. Heavy shoes dont hurt the horses and most are treated better than their owners. get some brain cells

  • OMG I cant believe they were booing Master Of Jazz he is such a great horse with wonderful gait!!!

  • Sick .. no sorry .. it is amazing that a horse has such talent !

  • My mistake, I misinterpreted your comment thinking you believed that the breed was a freak show. I apologize. Not all padded horses wear chains or have labored breathing. The caustic solutions is something done by the trainer to make them pick their feet up higher. I am disgusted by soring, but padded Walkers are beautiful, just like flat shod ones.

  • Get your facts straight. The USDA DID NOT close down the Celebration. I am amazed at the lack of ignorance that mental midgets like yourself like to claim to know about this breed.

  • Shawnbloom, quit lying. The uSDA dd not shut the celebration down.

  • I have a simple question. If the TWH is so naturally gaited why have the people involved in training them made the breed into such a 'freak show'? Gait can be bred for and achieved naturally. Just look at the Peruvian Pasos, Paso Finos, Icelandics and many other gaited breeds. They are every bit as animated as the TWH but they are that way through selective breeding and patient training. Their gaits are not achieved through cruelty and freakish training methods. This is not natural. Poor Horse.

  • Walking Horses achieve their gait through selective breeding as well. If Walking Horse gaits aren't natural, then neither is a Fox Trotter, Paso Fino, Peruvian Paso, or Icelandic gait. The gaits are bred into each of those breeds, and also the Walking Horse. All training does is to bring it out and pronounce it. TWH's are not 'freak shows'.

  • It makes me sick that people can't appreciate the Tennessee Walking Horse unless it's shod one way or another. Both flatshod and padded are amazing disciplines and they are both fun to watch. Why can't we stop being so biased and just appreciate everything the industry has to offer? The Tennessee Walking Horse is a truly amazing animal no matter how they are shod.

  • damn good horse and those who left rude comments are just upset that never in your life will you have a horse that is that great ! and well i hate to tell ya but that horse is amazing and well taken care off ..

  • disgusting.

  • so unfortunate.

  • I hope that horse (and most TWH performers) finds heaven, because he's living in hell on earth.

  • im sure hes not in hell very far from it .. but well im sure you know his owners and how they treat him right ...??

  • listen, all of you people who think heavy shod twh are disgusting, there not! it looks like their back ends are tucked under them becaouse the pads raise there front up higher. the pads just enhance the gait, they dont hurt them! all of you people need to shut up if you dont own a twh. I have several baby's out of this stallion! twh rule!

  • OMG finnally somebody who agrees with me...i love you now like omg people are stupid and need to learn about the breed before they judge them!

  • Excuse me,she is a Generator filly,has his coloration/looks.What a head shaker!

  • Look at the video of Powerstroke,a Pusher offspring,if you want to see a beauty that is flat shod.

The poor things have their backends tucked under them so much because all the power is up front, trying to pick up their feet.

  • Yep.Nothing graceful about throwing their feet up nearly over their head is there??

  • um not all riders hunch over...i dont...its just all the old guys who ride them[like my trainer]*starts to giggle*flat shod horses are boring...dont get me wrong i love my flat shod horse but stack horses are wayyy funner

  • cool... but im sorry i have neverrr liked this type of riding. i know alottt of cruelty can go in it, and i just think it looks so ungraceful, a horse shouldnt look like that. its pretty ugly looking to tell you the truth. horses are supposed to be graceful.

  • Whn USDA VMOs inspect all horse, they disqualify less than 5% of horses, and not all for soring, but also include improper equipment/technical violations. Look how many horses are lined up in this class. They were all inspected by USDA pursuant to the Horse Protection Act, AND THEY ALL PASSED!!! Palpations, chemical/foreign substance swipes, visual inspections, pulling shoes randomly and and other types of electronic analysis. Some people will never be happy until all paddeds are banned.

  • What is the point of padding anyways? Is natural not enough? The naturally moving TWH is beautiful just as is.

  • TWH's are beautiful without pads, but "What is the point of padding anyways?" What's the point in any shoe other than a keg, or a shoe at all. "Is natural not enough?" There is nothing natural about shoeing a horse, period. Or for that matter, riding a horse. I have still yet to see a TWH get hurt in the ring like I have seen hunter jumpers breaking legs on these jumps they do. Making a horse jump over water and through shrubs with a rider on top of them, that is not natural. Niether is dressage

  • If a padded horse is in the ring it has been inspected and found to be 100% sound in every way.

  • @utlaw97 bullshit

  • Personally I prefer flat shod horses to padded, BUT, don't think some of those flat shod people aren't doing stuff to their horses. I have seen bolts in feet, purposeful quick cutting, and foreign objects in the frog to creat a bruise, and just as much soring as the paddeds are supposedly doing. I don't know what other breeds do, but soring, while I don't condone it, is not limited to Tennessee Walking Horses.

  • The industry is enforcing rules on soring, etc., maybe not to the liking of some groups, but better than it was. One top trainer was just suspended by the Walking Horse Trainers Assocaiation, not the USDA or National Horse Show Commission, for alleged pressure shoeing AT HIS BARN. Another top trainer was suspended for 5 years for soreing. There are some serious penalties coming down now, which WILL have a chilling effect on soreing.

  • i was there and this is abuse.. i had to leave after 5 min because i couldnt handle it.. i was in tears.. these beautiful animals dont deserve this.. grow up please

  • mashleyfrhs - Nice comment to end with. It only reinforces who here is misinformed and needs to grow up.

  • amazing .. way to go !!! great horse .

  • Grand Champion of the World...Jazz looks great =]

  • Rumble young man Rumble. Good looking horse

  • zowey, that horse LOVES what he does and proves it everytime he shows. Get a brain and a clue.

  • poor things, shame on you people for degrading such a normally beautiful and happy relationship between horse and rider

  • No, shame on you for being misinformed. You shouldn't rely on biased opinions of people on the web who aren't fully informed themselves.

  • It's just plain freaky-looking. It just ain't how God meant horses to be, iffin ya ask me. But there's abuse in all the disciplines, from dressage to eventing (especially at the higher levels - those jumps are killers, literally) to Western and its daisy cutters.

  • And,due to your age,you completely missed my point about Midnight Sun.Waste of time.

  • No,thanks anyway.I'll stick to a more natural gaited breed that doesn't use pads.I know all about it that I care to.BTW,I'm 54,and no one 32 is going to tell me when to post and how, incidentally.

  • Tennessee Walking Horses are as naturally gaited as they come. Except for the Racking Horse or Paso Fino. They are the main breeds that are naturally gaited. To say that Tennessee Walking Horses aren't naturally gaited is an ignorant thing to say.

  • FYI my Missouri Foxtrotters are one of those main breeds that are naturally gaited also. What I mean is not that the TWH isn't naturally gaited.I mean I'll stick to a naturally gaited breed THAT DOESN"T USE PADS.You didn't take my comment as I meant it.

  • I'm sorry. I did take your comment wrong. I agree that Missouri Foxtrotters are a naturally gaited breed and not all TWH's use pads. There are a great number of people out there that prefer liteshod over heavy shod and the use of pads.

  • Do you see the extreme action on this horse's front end?? Did the plantation horses of yesteryear travel like THIS? Look at old pics of Midnight Sun in his NATURAL gait.

  • You cannot compare the padded horse of today with horses like Midnight Sun, Merry Go boy , etc...WHO, by the way, were known for their huge animated action compared to his ancestors. Walking horse traioners were shoeing horses with larger heavier shoes in the late 40's. This isnt new.I suggest you get educated before you post.

  • I really hate to be a downer i just dont think that Master of Jazz earned that 1st place I really think that Rody Rev earned that blue ribbon. U might agree or you might not i dont care

My 3 year colt stepped higher than that hot shot horse

  • Rowdy Rev doesnt have the head set or the front end that MOJ does. He ,like many other GREAT horses ,just didnt have enough of the total package to win that night. Who knows, his night might come. But he didnt deserve to win the night MOJ won.

  • I love this video!! I was there watchin' when he got crowned!! We finally have a World Grand Champion!!

  • The Gov. needs to find someone else to pick on and make examples out.........People(who are not involved in the industry) need to understand this is the work of alot of people. IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO MAKE A CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A RIDE MASTER OF JAZZ!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  • And Master of Jazz was inspected 4x that night, before entering the ring, he went through DQP and the USDA VMOs, and then again after he won. The industry must be monitored but no more VMOs with agendas other than to enforce the HPA in accordance with the HPA.

  • WE HAVE WAITED A YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This a true commitment of hard work

  • Looking foward to the time that the WGC is not gimmicked in ANY way! It's coming.......!

  • Gemnini, I dont doubt it a bit. When the Humane society nuts and the animal rights wacko's get rid of the Padded walking horse then they will come for YOUR saddles, bits, and keg shoes. Your skewed ideology is just what they want.

  • Skewed ideology? People who care about the well-being of horses are hardly wackos and nuts.

  • Yes, People who worry about the welfare of an animal while there is still ONE SINGLE CHILD abused, neglected and facing being aborted by it's "mother" should hide their face in shame.

  • True. But if I couldn't ride a horse without all that heavy "crap" on its' feet I wouldn't ride it period.

  • First off...their not heavy. Secondly. I could say the same thing about the "blinged" out western horses in shows, or any other facet of performance horses. Toeach his own. if you dont like it dont watch the videos and cut down someone who loves and reveres this great breed and type of show horse.

  • I have foxtrotters, and am not blind to the show ring methods there, either. And I do love and revere that great breed of horse, the TWH.I just think they can perform as well w/out being stood up 6" or more to make them throw their feet up in their faces.

  • I'd have to disagree with that. A nation is judged on how it treats its animals, who in my opinion should be treated just fairly as children and the elderly. One that cannot speak for itself so to speak.

  • I got there, meaning at the show, while this class was going on. I have shot in the past from the box seats, the gate, on the infield, and I felt this was the best spot to video. You can see everything. I started videoing when they lined up on each side. I've got more footage I'll be putting on soon of the WGC class.

  • I was sitting just to left of where this was shot, until it started raining and we moved to the covered seats.
