Most dummies in america think that racing is going around a circular speedway with no turns, or drag racing, which is far from real racing. When it comes to a real racetrack, its about handling and acceleration most importantly. Not how fast a car can go on a 5 mile long straight (last time I checked, no racetrack in the world has such a long stretch).

Racing in its broken down version is who can get from point A to point B first. All it is. NASCAR, point A is lap 1 point B is lap 500. Drag racing, starting line is point A, finish line is point B. NASCAR is an endurance race, and drag racing is just a sprint. Grand Am and European circuits are essentially a more challenging endurance race.
