This Is The Shit ... DAW / Soundcard / Mixer / MASCHINE / Turntable / MIDI-Keyboard ... That's all you need ... The Newest Edition (newest updates) wich I own and you WILL take it to another level ... Go get it now ... If you know your way around a groovebox you will love it instantly ... if you don't you will fall in love with it soon ... sounds are insane (7GB Library) ... And if you wanna top it ... get NI Guitar Rig wich you can implement in MASCHINE easily ... Drums & Baseline Thas' Hip Hop
@ThatFliWhiteGuy to make the pads cut each other off, click on the modules tab, and you'll see something called 'CHOKE GRP' change it to '1' on the pads you want it choke group one, '2' for a different choke group etc. hope that helped.
@mab1ro It depends on what you're sampling - individual sounds such as bass and drum hits are best sampled in mono, orchestral sections can often sound more alive sampled in stereo, but it depends how your chopping suits the sample...
@rupertshean if your workflow is very hands on and especially if it revolves around sampling and slicing samples similarly to how I have in this video, I think Maschine is a little faster - it's down to the individual though, and using Maschine as a plugin in Live is a fantastic way to get the best of both worlds.
Reminds me a lot of Ableton live. Seems like you can get into a nice work flow if you invest the time into this software. No matter what we use, we all just want to make good music.
@flux302 version 1.5 did indeed completely rework the sample slicing options and improve MIDI editing, which are a lot easier to work with. I'm not sure about it making everything in this video 'obsolete' though!
Maschine is fairly transparent. Not totally, but it's pretty flat- general quality of its stepping and summing etc is very good as with all NI products. Of course, the output of the audio interface you use will have as much to do with the quality of audio you receive from it. That said, sample a 'real analog' (and beware what you class as 'analog' as you may be surprised as to how digital many classic boxes are) and you'll hear the quality of your interface more than Maschine...
Fucking amazing bro. im diggin the groove. I want one soooo bad. I saw it at last years NAMM in Cali. It seems so user friendly and intuitive. Im gonna get a new Mac Book, then the Machine will be my next purchase. thanks for posting the vid up homie.
Hi Hipnova, Maschine does have a fairly high system toll. I had no problems with a 2.4ghz c2duo w/2ghz ram (a MacBook, with 5400rpm hdd), but running particularly large and stressful projects stably required a 384 sample buffer for onboard sound. Your mileage will vary with a dedicated audio interface. Hope this helps!
This is what I've been looking for. There's plenty of videos of people playing techno tracks with Maschine, but I've been wondering how it handles the grit and grime.
Just curious if anyone knows if Maschine is very CPU intensive when you get into the higher track counts. Thanks.

@watchoutguy123 you can sample from inputs like turntable, ipod etc. and you can have a .wav file opened in it.

Sorry for the delayed response to some of these folks!
- You can layer samples on one pad, but you need to do it with the software mapping window otherwise you just switch samples.
- Guess the sample and I'll tell you if you're right! ; )
- This is on OS X 10.5, sorry I can't help there.
Thanks for the kind words too. I'm glad the video helps!
