its because when Tohru was little there was a game called fruits basket and then when they were playing she got called the riceball and she didnt mind but didnt get to play for a really long time. then someone yelled riceball at the very end and she could play. so when she was saying she didnt belong at the Soma's house she said a riceball didnt belong in a fruits basket

It's the same as the manga's titlw, which is explained in the first book - it's named after the game "fruit basket" which Tohru played when she was little, but the boys teased her and told her she was a riceball, not a piece of fruit. It's all metaphoric, because she doesn't fit in the Sohma fruit basket, but there's still a place for her, because in the end the kids called out riceball along witht he rest of the fruit names. If that made any sense?

Someone asked about the rooster. Who remembers when Kureno showed up in manga? Anyway just read the manga. *Spoiler* His curse is broken so he never actually turns into the rooster which sucks because I love when they change. They are so cute.
