Your auto is about as fast as my 5 speed 96 is,.. i have...

Catback pacesetter monza exhaust
and that's it.. Check out my vid to look at 0-60 and what not.. I'm sure that dr mod helped ALOT.. but i have a question, what inch piping are you running from your y-pipe back? I havnt even put on a y-pipe yet so i should be gaining about what.. 30hp w/ headers and y-pipe...
Don't listen to gopedrida I have SS AC headers and ypipe gained 24whp with out a tune... going back to the dyno soon to get it tuned after I install my udp and cams :P
Oh i know, i just put my obx y-pipe/header combo on and it was such a HUGE difference in torque and midrange power... instead of a solid chirp in 2nd gear i find myself totally burning second and chirping third.. Time for some new tires probably, but what kind of cams are you going with? My next step is going to most definatly be 00vi - i wont to mevi untill i boost... but we'll see - post more vids!!!
Definatley get 00vi my car had it from the factory because I have a 2k1.. But I drove a 4th gen and I gota say 00vi is worth it way more high end power. I was gona go with ebay "JDM" vq35 cams but the head has to be modified by a machinist for them to fit, so I'm just gona spend a bit more cash and get the drop in JWT cams they're pricey but it'll be worth it.
Just always like that. I do about 95% of my driving in the city and light to light the OD basically just fishes in and out, not really the cars fault, just the way I drive so I tend to leave it off.
Fred I have a quesiton. Can you pull second gear scratch with DR mod? And is your tranny gone to shit or do you only have it set to do it at WOT (which I hope you do or else your a fucking dumb ass idiot) :]
having the trans shift fast is actually better for the transmission, the stock programmed long shifts are only there so there isnt any 'shift shock' but comon, theres nothing with a little shift shock
negative. Ive been a memberof the org. for years and never has anyone blown a tranny because of the DR mod....only the idiots who removed it all together and would have their car shifting at full line pressure all the time....anything but WOT is a big fat NO-NO.
Nah tranny is fine to this day. I dont have it set to WOT cause I always heard it was a PITA. I use a toggle in the cabin so I just switch it on or off. Only use it when going WOT obviously though lol/ PLus I am running a tranny cooler which is cool in the summer but in the winter here in Philly it takes a minute to warm the tranny up.
Tranny cooler okay. I'd rather have it set to WOT but I guess a switch would be better if you only wanted it to come on certain times. Any way you can send me pictures of how you wired it to a switch?
Yea the WOT switch can be a PITA, the switch hardwired in the cab makes it obvious, on or off. Only turn it off when Im goin WOT, kinda the same but different. Yea, you need an always open switch, not an always closed switch....the circuit must be open as per normal then you are closing the loop hence bypassing the resistor. Yea I can take some pics, how can I send them to you?
Just because it's auto does not mean it's slow to test this I raced 2 stock maximas (4th gen) one was stock one had cai (my car which is auto/stock) they both are mt, i kept up with both of them nearly side by side both ways.
Unfortunately this does not show me anything, being that there is no before video. I actually just finished this mod a few mins ago, myself. I went with the Under The Pedal approach -- Completely inconspicuous & reliable.
I haven't tested it out yet, but watching your video and seeing how quick the tach drops back from 6k to 4k is DRASTICALLY faster than what mine currently is doing.
That'd be awesome if I saw such an improvement on my 97 too.
My bad...I just figured anyone watching would know how a stock Maxima tranny shifted. But yea a before after segment woulda been better. Either way you'll certainly notice the difference, its a full line pressure shift...with the DR inact it will never do it,its meant to make the shifts smooth even at the expense of both performance and wear on the tranny.
wut is the dr mod. my friend has a 97 maxima and doesnt want to do any work on it because it is older. i might just show her its still got sum life to it.
Yea its stock. Tried a Fidenza but honestly no gain to be seen in my setup atleast. Dynoed before and after install and bupkis. The drop resistor circuit being cut allows full pressure shifts....currently Im installing a rear exhaust mount turbo that one of the guys from the org is running...his best times so far is 13.90 and he's auto.
whats the yellow light all the way to the right. whats it on for?

how much are the JWT cams? I've heard them before they sound great - and would you get a rough idle cam or a more conservative cam?

It's not better... That's why alot of people that do this mod end up buying a new tranny within a year or so.

dude...are you running anything over stock rims??it took your car over 10 seconds to get to 60mph.

Wow. Your observation skills are supreme. Read the comments retard,I didnt go WOT till almost second gear.

And even after the shift the only point was to show the DR shifts...not going fast.

Is the flywheel stock? I don't think I've ever seen my tach go down that fast in between shifts ... I'll have to take a look later after work

The drop resistor mod is the reason for the quick shifts.
